The canonical text on how to weed library collections. It covers past weeding studies and their results as well as past methods and the author's own recommendations. Very readable and sometimes surprisingly frank or scathing with respect to previous investigations. This book is a vital part of my thesis research and a great reference to consult for any weeding project.
This was pretty technical and useful in the understanding of weeding.. I can see where someone would want to own a copy if weeding books is part of their life or culture. It did help me come up with some useful questions for myself and ideas about how information is recorded and tracked.
Even though it is a little old, it is one of the best books I have read regarding this subject matter. It is still relevant despite references to infotrak, CD-rom, and other obsolete tools.
i read this to help with my own humougness personal library. it did give me some ideas but largely I do not think that his stats for weeding libraries proved his theories.
