This is another good example of the formidable writing skills of Bob Hostetler. The story moves nicely and makes for a very compelling narrative, rivaling well the works of the better authors for young readers that are in the genre. I actually think that this is good enough that it should have been in the Newbery conversation, though the fact that it contains Christian instruction probably made that something that wouldn't happen.
This is a very good book with many good messages, and it also makes for excellent reading just for the story.

Truth Slayers, through the story of Brittney Marsh and a few other teens from her youth group, shows the human logic behind choosing right or wrong and justifying one's decisions. It also shows how evil forces often influence our thoughts and values. This is a good read for teens who are developing their values and who often learn by experience that their actions have consequences and how we live determines our character. The intermittent insights of Josh McDowell and Bob Hostetler concerning truth are must-reads for young people. If you're a teen or know a teen, this book's a good read.

I first heard of this book via a church I attended in the past. The youth there did a drama/musical of this on a mission trip and then performed it for the church when they returned home.

I found the format an interesting concept. There are two fictional stories: one of high school students in a youth group and one of demons that reminds me of Lewis's Screwtape Letters. The authors also insert practical discussions of the concepts found in the fictional stories--explaining the concepts in more depth and providing ways to use them in real life.
