There is something powerful about seeing a country through the eyes of someone whose job is to stop, look closer, and tell the stories that might otherwise be overlooked. On Assignment USA by Priit J. Vesilind offers readers that opportunity, taking us behind the scenes of a life spent traveling, observing, photographing, and documenting America.
What I enjoyed most about this book is that it isn't simply about the places Vesilind visited. It's about the people and stories behind those places. Through his experiences as a journalist and photographer, we get a glimpse of America that goes beyond famous landmarks and postcard destinations.
The book reminded me that there are countless stories happening around us every day. Some are dramatic, some are inspiring, and some may seem ordinary at first—but when someone takes the time to truly observe, those ordinary moments can become meaningful pieces of history.
