A clear and concise overview of British history from earliest times to the height of her Empire under Edward VII. Kipling and Fletcher bring drama and excitement to the subject making English history come alive.
Charles Robert Leslie Fletcher was an English historian. He gained a first class degree in modern history from Magdalen College, Oxford in 1880 and was elected a Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford the following year. He was tutor of Magdalen from 1883 to 1906, becoming a Fellow in 1889.
This English history for young people is one of the best short histories I've seen. Entertaining, informative and laugh-out-loud funny at times. Kipling's poetic interludes are wonderful!
