These are really great books for teaching kids how to read. All of the kids have enjoyed reading these, especially Israel. These are older books but I found that the vocabulary in this book lined up nicely with the vocabulary that Israel is learning in 2nd grade now. The stories are nice and interesting and make Israel feel like he was a proficient reader.
