This was a very informative book that posed a lot of thought provoking questions. What I love about this book is that it's 99% quotations from prophets and the scriptures. Brown takes a subject such as the Pre-existence and then gives you a whole chapter full of scriptures and quotes on that subject. It's great to use as a study guide.

One of the best books that overviews why we are here and what life is all about. I love even more that he has lots of footnotes and references everything that he cites. Great book!

Matthew Brown is probably my favorite Church author because of his documented research, and rich unique sources.

Some parts of this were beautiful and eye-opening, reminding me of the reality of the Plan of Salvation and our divinity as children of God. Other points were fascinating to think about but kind of felt a bit beyond the mark of the simple truths of the gospel.

This was an amazing book. I learned so much and my testimony was really strenghened. Matthew B. Brown does a great job of covering gospel principles. He uses quotes from prophets, apostles, and scholars which really gives credibility. He also has extensive notes on each chapter, expounding on certain points brought up in the chapter. It took me such a long time to read because the content is deep and thought provoking. It isn't a book that can be read with lots of background noise or frequent interruptions. It also took a while because I read a couple of chapters more than once so that I could really absorb the information. I will definitely be referencing this book often.

I found this book to be an interesting and engaging read. This is written for an LDS audience, who have a belief in modern, prophetic revelation. Much of the information is taken from quotes and personal experiences from modern prophets.
I have never read a book that I actually read the footnotes, but I did with this one. I realize after reading it, this is a reprint of an older book (2002?) with a little bit different title.
My husband and I had very interesting discussions with this book and I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Outstanding! Highly motivating! Urgently recommend to all LDS serious about obtaining exaltation. Only one word of caution: truth is a hard edged sword and sometimes hurts. The good news is that Christ ALWAYS compensates that with peace and comfort to overcome and prevail! Excellent, excellent reading!

Fascinating book! The author takes an in-depth look at many doctrinal points regarding the Plan of Salvation, using primarily quotes from the prophets to answer a variety of questions. Even though it is a well-studied subject, I still gained new insight from this book.

At first, I was kind of bored with this book--I already knew most of what Brown was teaching--but then the book got really interesting and explained every stage of our existence. I highly recommend this book.

I listened to this one on a set of CD's. It was okay, but the reader was quite dry. I learned a couple of things.
