I have mixed feelings about this book. It was not a book that I had to read every free chance I had.
The story was interesting and has a lot of potential. I found the book refreshing in that it was a "clean" book. There was no swearing, or sex, or anything that would be considered inappropriate for younger readers. That was nice. With that being said however, some of the author's attempts at making it "clean" fell kind of on the corny side for me (an adult reader). Why say "back the heck off," wh ...more

This book in the second in a Young Adult series.
I haven't read the first but decided to jump in anyway. This book summarizes the important parts that you need to know about the first book in order to understand the world the second book is in. But you still don't know what exactly happened in the first book so there wasn't a whole lot of spoilers.

When I first started this book I was actually pretty excited about it. I knew it was going to be something that I could really get into. I think the first few chapters made me have high hopes for it, the characters seemed like they would be a lot of fun to get to know and for whatever reason, I love books set in schools, you know, the whole Harry Potter feel?

I have to say I had mixed feelings about this book. I usually enjoy YA novels. I don't mind the whiny teenage girls running into trouble, mostly. Now this wasn't your usual teen drama. The main character is a pretty strong, and is trying to come to grips with her new life as a warrior in trusted with keeping the world safe. A lot of pressure for a teenage girl.

This was a fun teen book that will catch most young adult’s attention.
There is a nice sense of pacing throughout the book. I’ve found that an issue with many YA books, the feeling that the author doesn’t know how much detail, how much atmosphere to build, but this one was handled nicely. There is a slight issue with some of the word choices. I know that for many adults, cursing and bad language in general bother them, but in this case I think it was the lack of the usual curse words that made th ...more

When Ms. Clark contacted me to read and review Blood Oath. I jumped on the chance. The blurb on this book captured my attention right away and I can gladly say I wasn't disappointed. While this is the second in the series it can definitely stand alone.
The characters were very likable. They instantly drew me into the plot. While I did like each and everyone of the main characters as well as some secondary characters I found it sometimes very hard to keep up with them all. Some of the characters j ...more

I got this book as a First Reads gift. I hadn't read the first book in the series (and still haven't) but I thought that this was a fairly good book even though I didn't have the first one for informational background. It's not my usual cup of tea... I've been leaning towards historical bios or dystopia novels lately, so I found it a little hard to get into. It was especially hard to get into since I was reading the Divergent series at the same time. I am excited to read more by the author as we

I won a copy of this book for honest review.
As I am a grandmother, you might be surprised to know I am also a YA reader. I started this book several times and finally finished it. I liked the strong lead character and the fact they left the three love rivals kept in suspense for so long. There was no sexual or swears and only mild violence.
