William Booth's Amazing Visions

William Booth's Amazing Visions will serve as a wakeup call all who profess allegiance to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For far too long the Body of Christ has been asleep on the job while the harvest rots in the fields. The enemy has blinded our eyes to the desperate needs around us and caused us to focus on temporal things rather than the eternal values we have been called to live by. These visions are riveting, challenging, and convicting. Unlike so many books about heaven that describe our heavenly home as incredible, wonderful, peaceful, and glorious, these visions reveal another seldom-considered side—the awesome longing on the part of God to see His lost creation redeemed and restored through the blood of jesus Christ. Few in the Church seem to understand that they will be held accountable for their complacency, apathy, and indifference to the call of Christ to take up their cross and Follow Him. The judgment that awaits us as believers will not determine our salvation, for that is solely by grace. What will be determined, however, will be our eternal rewards for service lovingly rendered or lost through trivial pursuits. General William Booth was driven by one passion, his love for God, and his love for the souls of men... This book concerns five powerful visions of which God imparted to William Booth.

“The chief danger that confronts the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, heaven without hell.”

The founder of the Salvation Army was a man of vision indeed, as a century later his prophetic words ring frightfully true. This book is compiled specifically of five individual visions of eternity that William Booth saw (a man who said he preferred not to be thought of as a visionary), which will capsize the heart of any quickened believer.

While Booth's visions of the glory of Heaven align with other "Heaven" books I've read, what distinguishes his is the chill notion that it is possible to be saved and yet severely disappointed. That is, there are some who will realize moments after they've left this life how little they surrendered of it to Christ, and in turn, how little is their eternal reward.

By contrast, the weight of glory that is possible with just one look of pleasure from the glorified Christ - what a picture! This book both humbles and inspires.

This book contains five visions from William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, and is compiled and updated by David Ravenhill. Each recorded vision is reasonably short in length, although vivid in description. This book will encourage any modern day believer to get out there and reach the lost. A good read overall.

This book opened my eyes to how little of my life has actually been spent for Jesus. It has challenged me greatly, and I believe it will challenge you too.
