When I went to the library looking for easy reads in Spanish, the children’s library aisles were filled with strollers, so I grabbed a lot of books without really figuring out what they were. This one isn't actually ideal for someone to practice reading in Spanish, as opposed to learning to read.

This book is part of a series “We both Read” translated from the English. It’s a cute concept, the grown up reads the rhyming text on the left page while the child reads one or two words that finish the verse on the right. For a child, because the words will rhyme and the picture gives you a pretty good idea of what the word will be it’s pretty easy to read their part.

The rhyming aspect of the book was more of a negative than a positive for me, but the pictures were cute, the story engaging enough, and I learned the names of a whole bunch of insects and critters. I can’t speak for how good the translation is, or whether the need for rhyme made for questionable grammar, but me gusta este libro!

What? This is a fiction story about Lulu, a ladybug, that is hurrying to get ready for school and leaves the house without her shoes. She begins to search everywhere for her shoes and cannot find them. Her mother asks the bus driver if she can wait for Lulu to find her shoes. When all the other insects on the bus hears that Lulu needs help, they fly out the windows of the bus and helps her look for her shoes. Mom finally has her look in her closet where Lulu ends up finding her shoes.

So What? This book portrays insects as hard and diligent workers.

Now What? I would perform a teacher read-aloud and allow the students to perform a choral reading on the second page. On the right page there are words in big, bold print that students can participate in the reading process.

Loved this!
This is a reader that the parent and child read together. The parent reads the left page and the child reads the right page. It was fun. I specifically bought this one because we call Kennedy Lulu. She loved the story, I'm definitely checking into getting some more.
I purchased it at Deseret Book and for some reason it was on sale for $1.99.

These are great books for beginning/shy readers. The left side is for adults to read and the right side is easier words for kids to read aloud. This is a cute story about a bug who has lost her shoes and has everyone help her only to find them in her closet. Not great literature. Great at helping build reading confidence.

A We Both Read book level k-1. Lulu has lost her shoes and look's everywhere to find them. They are where no one thinks to check, the closet. Cute illustrations with a fun story.

Mi hija ahora reconoce la palabra "pelota" y también el dibujo de la pelota en este libro. (Ella tiene 12 meses.) ¡Qué divertidos son estos libros! ¡Me encantan!
