This is definitely one of the best compressed and complete book on Islam - the beginning, ending, divine knowledge and teachings, arts and architecture
.
This guide is divided into two parts, part 1 being the history, philosophy, traditions and teaching of Islam; whilst part 2 describe the art and architecture of Islam
.
I enjoyed part 2 the most because of the beauty in following arts:
- pottery, lusterware n glassmaking in Baghdad
- wood and ivory carving in Sicily
- Seljuk stoneworks
- enamelled glassware n inlaid metalworks in Mosul
- the Mamluk's Quran
- the Islamic garden in Spain
- ceramics of Safavid Iran
- Indian carpet, textile and jeweleries
- Ottoman's carpet; and many more.!
.
Another good read.
