This book is a great book it is perfect for young children who like to practice their counting skills. It has a lot of great pictures that help kids remember what numbers look like. I suggest all mothers and fathers read this to their children at least once.

The Cheerios Counting Book is a book that introduces young children to counting, it starts with the number one and progresses to ten. Once children reach the number ten, the book focuses on recognizing groups of ten and then extending all the way to one hundred. There are illustrations of Cheerios as well as fruit that represent the quantities. When children look at the book, they can use the cereal Cheerios as a manipulative, allowing them to physically place the cereal on the illustrations. This allows for hands-on experience and reinforces their understanding of number quantities. This book is a creative use of supporting number sense in a way that provides a variety of strategies for learners.
The Cheerios Counting Book would be an excellent choice for reading to a variety of grade levels. You could introduce this book in early counting with Pre-K and Kindergarten for one-to-one correspondence or even first grade when teaching about groups of ten. This concept is foundational to understanding place value and addition and subtraction. In Kindergarten, students are introduced to counting by tens and grouping objects in tens to explore base 10 number system. Then in the first grade, they learn to group 10 more advanced with additional numbers and different group makeups.

11/20/2022 ~ I appreciated the varied ways that groups of tens were used to organize the Cheerios as the numbers got larger. In addition to counting to 100 by 1s, this would be useful for explaining skip counting by 10s.

The Cheerios Counting books starts out by counting to the number ten. Each page is a different number. Then it starts counting by tens after it gets to ten. The pages show the number of cheerios needed for that number, and the pages are outlined with different fruit. This would be fun to use in a classroom and actually bring in Cheerios and count along with the book. You could also talk about the different fruit on each page because the children may not be familiar with some of the fruits.

This is an awesome book to read to Kindergarten. This book helps the students count to ten, as well as allow the students to count by tens. The children can use the hundreds chart as a resource by counting by tens, and this book can reinforce counting by tens. In addition, this is a good book to show how groups of ten are formed. Therefore, children can implement a counting activity using cheerios or other small objects to count by tens.

This is a great book because it goes from 1 to 10, then goes from 10 to 100 counting by tens. There aren't many words but the kids will enjoy it because they know the cereal. It is also a good book to do a lesson with because you could actualy bring in the cereal and have them count it. After the 10, the book starts grouping the cheerios into tens and counting them that way.

I like this book because it helps children to visualize numbers. For instance, the number five has five objects on the page to show the number five. This book could be used for very young children to gain the basic concept of counting.

Great counting book! I like how it has the numbers displayed, written out, and provides a visual. My son enjoyed counting by tens and on the edges of the page counting by fives with the variety of fruits. Cute book.

March 3, 2018This counting book uses a household staple to learn to count! The Cheerios are organized from 1 to 10. Each group is then placed to make 100. Borders of fruit like blueberries and strawberries correspond to the large number shown on the the page. There is simple text along with some rhyming lines. Toddlers can place their Cheerios directly on this durable board book and practice counting. Each page has clear graphic representations with enough white space for a young child to stay focused. This book doesn’t need an adult for interaction and it’s a handy tool to bring to a restaurant to help keep the child engaged while mom and dad eat.
