This is the manual endorsed by professional guides, instructors, and recreational river runners everywhere. With comprehensive step-by-step coverage starting with the first run, it includes tips from top guides, outfitters, and instructors, plus the most complete guide to Class V rafting techniques ever assembled. This is the completely revised and updated successor to Bennett's best-selling manual, Rafting! .
I started reading this guidebook on my Yampa River trip last summer. I liked it so much that I eventually ordered upon my return to civilization. This is a pretty good guide on rafting covering topics as raft construction and materials, raft types, equipment, rowing and paddling, repair, reading a river, rescue, etc.
I found this book to be very useful for reminding me of past practices and getting ready for future adventures.
Good book, but not great. This book covers almost everything you need to know to get out on the river and raft with some confidence. In most sections, though, topics are only given a cursory treatment and I am left with a handful of questions.
Basically, the book sacrifices depth for range. There you go.
