What Chloe Wants

Rate this book
SHE'D FOUND THE MAN OF HER DREAMS.
UNFORTUNATELY, HE DIDN'T WANT THE ROLE . . .
It was well known that what Chloe Somersham wanted, Chloe got. She wasn't spoiled or odiously rude. She was simply a very willful and spirited sprite, no doubt due to those blazing curls atop that pixie face. Despite her large dowry and her father's apoplectic pleas to make a suitable match, she remained unwed, dreaming instead of travel and adventure.
But when she met Liam MacRaith, Lord Mountrath, whose Irish eyes spoke of magnificent emerald isles and far-off magic, she made her choice. She wanted Liam--despite her father's ranting (an Irishman!) or the fact that Liam had no intention of marrying this outrageous hellion. True, he desperately needed funds and her fey Celtic beauty was intriguing. But he made his own decisions, thank you.
The challenge was on. The bets were laid, and the Town eagerly watched with gleeful anticipation. Would Chloe get what she wanted, once again? None were more curious than Lord Mountrath himself!

3.5

This was lighthearted fun. Chloe is accustomed to getting whatever she wants. When her father demands she marry by the end of the season she sets her sites on the newly arrived Irish earl, Liam. Chloe was a fun character in a lot of ways. She is also quite the chatterbox and at times endearingly oblivious. Liam was likable; he was completely frustrated with Chloe and yet couldn’t help falling for her at the same time. As much as I liked Chloe, she also drove me batty. She was set on marrying Liam no matter what. I personally like to see the guy be the pursuer (in a non-stalker way), and in this case we never really get to see Liam pursue Chloe. It was still a fun read, pretty predictable and at times a little wordy, but overall cute and enjoyable.

Eh, more like 3.5. A bit much, but perhaps that's just Chloe. Still giving it a 4 instead of a 3 because I have an obscene love for Ireland and all things Irish, sooooo.... that made up for some of it.

Wonderful book

This is a wonderful book. It is humorous and witty with
amazing and endearing characters. I wish that writers like Jensen would be republished in ebook form. Authors like Cindy Holbrook, Elsie Lee, Judith Lansdown and Emma Jensen are some of the truly great Regency writers in the tradition of Georgette Heyer.
