If you have a small or local business, you can't go wrong with the marketing advice in "The Facebook Guide to Small Business Marketing."
Good introduction to Facebook marketing for novices (like me!). Yup, I know Facebook is ancient and it's not the go-to place for online marketing anymore but it can't help to also have a FB presence right?
The book is concise and includes many illustrations. It's easy to follow and gives newbies a starting point from which to experiment.
The only drawback is that the book is stale at times, having been published in 2013. Nonetheless, the book is as good a place as any to start a FB marketing journey.
“The Facebook Guide to Small Business Marketing” by Ramon Ray is an excellent place to start for anyone wanting to do more for their small business on facebook. It is well organized, well written, with plenty of pictures and examples to help anyone learn and use facebook better for marketing small businesses.
After the introduction, the book contains eleven informative and instruction packed chapters. These include: learning facebook basics, designing a business page, drawing more people to your page, making money on facebook, boosting your website with facebook, creating facebook events, using facebook to generate local store foot traffic, catching media attention using facebook, leveraging facebook as a platform, creating and using facebook apps, and learning lessons from real businesses. There is also an Appendix that contains some further resources.
This book is written so the beginner can understand and get started, but I'm sure those that know a bit about facebook will also learn a thing or two. It really does contain a lot. The first chapters will help anyone get started and not just read about it, but get doing. The later chapters, such as those on events and apps contain a bit more advanced strategies. This reference will be kept handy for sure. I'm going to be referring to this book often as I revamp my facebook marketing efforts and as I grow into needing and wanting to do some of the advanced strategies contained in these pages.
I really think this is an excellent resource for any small business owner who wants to get involved with facebook and use it effectively for marketing purposes.
It had some good information, especially if you get into the technical aspect of running a page. Since this book was geared towards businesses, a lot of it didn't apply to non-profits or, in my case, libraries.
"The Facebook Guide to Small Business Marketing" is a good resource for the beginning facebook-er. I found myself flipping through pages to get to the good stuff. Nice introductory on the shelf book for the DIY-er.
