3.5 ⭐️ This is my first Bre Shadae book and I can see myself reading more of her work. Priest was a real man. I loved the kind of energy he gave off; he was such a protector and provider. I believe that Priest and Satisa had unique relationship. Satisa was trying to get on my nerves, but I had to remind myself that it had only been two days, all these changes could be daunting, and she had a child to consider. At the midst of it, Satisa was very hesitant and insecure and it came off repetitive, but I’m like Priest is trying to spoil you girl. Due to her uncertainty and nervousness, I also got the impression that she wasn't attempting to comprehend Priest and was instead looking for a way out when any conflict or drama happened. Whew did drama happen… the snakes in the grass on both sides was great drama. I believed that Tisa supported her family too much because the energy wasn’t reciprocated.
This was a really good read. Bre Shadae is a new to me author, and I enjoyed her style. We meet Priest. He's young, ambitious, and he's got big dreams. He decided to turn his life around by saying goodbye to the street life. But don't sleep on him. He's still that niģga. He's got his security gig, and it's popping. When I say gig, I mean he's the head of security. He owns it. That's his baby. It's while doing his job, he met Satisa. Although they did not meet under the right circumstances, he was immediately attracted to her. Satisa was a sweetheart and loyal to a fault. She was timid, but she didn't move like that. She had the world on her shoulders while dealing with the recent loss of her mother. She met Priest in Miami, where she was visiting to spread her mother's ashes. Priest and Satisa had crazy chemistry. Priest in Miami, Satisa in Flint, neither could get each out of their minds. When Priest ran into her 2 yrs later, he said he getting his woman no matter what. And the roller coaster these two took me on before they finally got it together was wild. Satisa was for sure gave Priest a run for his money. She was so apprehensive and skeptical about everything Priest was doing. I wanted to shake her for a minute. But what I was not expecting in this story was the backstabbing, the betrayal, and the lying. There were a lot of supporting side characters, and they all could easily get a story of their own. Waiting to see what the author is going to come up with. 4.6⭐️ (-.4 for editing)
In true Bre Shadae fashion, she delivered another banger that kept me engaged and feeling every emotion with her storytelling. In this stand-alone story, we are on a journey with Priest and Satisa and all they had to endure to reach a happily ever after. What was supposed to be a one night / no information exchanged situation is turned into something more unexpected.
It was easy for me to fall for the main characters. I loved how they seemed to “get” each other from their first encounter. Satisa’s story resonated with me a lot- she’s the mature one in her family, has her head on straight, and she wanted to be the best mom for her daughter. I respected her hustle and determination. She did stress me out a few times when she questioned Priest’s motives. I was thinking, “Girl, let that man and his D spoil you!” Princess treatment only, mkay! Priest is everything!! He’s such a provider and alpha male. I immediately knew I would like him from the way he protected Tisa in the beginning. I felt like he wanted to move forward but his former life kept bringing the beast out of him. He handled Tisa in and out of the bedroom and this was something different from this author- those love scenes were spicy and I ate every single page up!
The story is well executed, full of twists and turns, and drama, and it has a complete and strong plot. The main characters had me in a chokehold; I was rooting for them to make it because they were truly better together. The co-characters brought a good balance to the story, as well!! I wanted to lay hands on China, Deja, and Dee for all the ruckus they brought against my babies! The nerve of them to feel entitled; they wore me out but I can’t lie, they were good villains! I loved the way Priest’s family accepted Jasmine & Satisa and how easily Benji meshed well with their little family. I will also say, Prince and I were not friends in the beginning but I respected him in the end, he deserves love!! All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the author continues to push the envelope! Awesome job on this one!
Priest is a book HUSBAND baby. 🔥 Satisa & Priest met & had a one night stand that changed everything for them. The chemistry between them was so hot from beginning to end‼️
Satisa got on my nerves for most of the book being stubborn. Priest came in & didn’t play no games behind her. Big steppa fr. Her family was so disgusting & I’m still mad about it. 😒
I really enjoyed this read but the ending was rushed imo. I also was getting confused with the dialogue didn’t know who was Talking at some points. The spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 This book is definitely a great urban romance.
Priest knew he wanted out of the drug game and into a more stable life, but what he didn’t expect is those that use to be close to him to change up and go after him. He started the expansion of his security business and sold everything to fully invest in the business. Little did he know breaking up a fight would lead him to a one-night stand with the love of his life. Satisa was only trying to spread her mother's ashes and her cousin Trey and sister China always seemed to ruin everything. China’s boyfriend Reggie and her had a toxic relationship and so much that they were fighting at the club and Satisa was fighting Reggie for going after her sister. Priest pulling her out of the fight was exactly what she didn’t know she needed. The only problem was Satisa said after tonight we don’t exchange numbers nothing! Girl why would you say that?!? The story then picks up two years later whew chile. Priest is a man that knew what he wanted and wasn’t letting up! I felt terrible for Tisa because her family was truly holding her back and would be her downfall if it wasn’t for Priest. The sceks between these two was so good! A toe sucker?!? Sign me up! Also, I want to say this book did leave me with some questions like what happened to Pria, will Prince get better, and what is up with Chaz and Nesha. All questions I hope may be answered in a few more books! This is my first book by this author and I’m open to more! Definitely a WellReadRuby recommendation and I’m giving this book 4⭐️ for now. I may change this to 4.5 later I really enjoyed this book!
Priest was pressure ok. The spice was nice but my 2 star rating is because this book was extremely long winded. I had to muscle through and skip some paragraphs… and pages… I really was interested in their story and I didn’t want to have to add it my DNF list but I was so close to stopping and saying eff it. And then of course the HEA was rushed. This book needs to be edited down about to 200 pages at most.
Beautiful love story but all that crazy family drama was too much. Too many plot ideas forced into one book. One night stand turned into a love child, crack head sister, crack head baby daddy, crackhead cousin, weird ex girlfriend, jealous drug dealer, another crackhead brother, dumbass little sister, loud stripper twin besties, all the damn fires, murder murder murder, and a hair salon. Just damn much for me.

Bre Shadae is a New To Me Author and if this is how she's writing books, color me a Fan! This story had everything I wants in a Black Love novel. Priest is Book Bae Supreme. He was written so well I wanted to pull him off those pages and keep him for myself. The start was slow, but once the full story picked up, it didn't stop. Full throttle. I loved everything about it. Definitely an author worth following. Can't wait to read more.
Come on Bre! Lawd Priest! ❤ He was a man, who his his ish together, to be a youngin’! He paved the way for himself through hard work, and knew he wanted a family. Meeting Satisa was just the push he needed to put things quickly into place. Now, Satisa girl???? I know you had it rough, but your indecisiveness and back and forth, was making me crazy! Ughhh….. I loved how hard Priest went for Satisa to show her he was all in and wanted only her! Then, full speed ahead! I’m like what the hell is happening here. Satisa’s family was a hot ass mess, and she just couldn’t catch a clue! Maybe it’s just me, but they would have been cut the hell off a long time ago, cause ain’t nobody got time for that foolishness! 👀 Then to find out the ish they were up to! 🤯 Dee’s ole hatin’ ass coming out the woodwork, and Prince’s shiftiness! What is really going on with him? I need to know more about Prince, and hope he gets a story next! Chaz was interesting as well, and what will become of him and Nesha? Really enjoyed this read, and anticipating more from these characters, I hope! 👍👍👍
I didn’t think I could read another book this month but I’m glad I did. Priest was not what I expected. It was so much more. How does someone love someone so much that in 2 days, they turn the woman they love and flip her life right side up. Over. And over. And over! My goodness Priest was a MAN!!!!!!!
Priest that man right there is bae all day ok! I love how he came in and treated Benji as his own pretty much! I loved their relationship. Satisa got on my nerves at times! I understood where she was coming from. But at the same time she knew Ty wasn’t no freaking Saint. China surprised me but then again she didn’t. That plot twist though! Fantastic job! I would love a Chaz story or maybe a Prince one.
This read was an interesting one for me. This book has all the things I’m normally head over heels for: instant attraction, secret baby, rich man lavishing riches in a deserving woman. However something in the writing just didn’t resonate with me and I can’t really put my finger on it. I gave it a 3.75 but rounded it up to a four.
Satisa and Priest’s story was very engaging. This took place in my hometown “Flint, Michigan”! I actually didn’t pick up on it until I was well engrossed in the book! Satisa was very unsure of herself a lot which annoyed me. The book slowed down a bit towards the middle but picked up more pace toward the end! China and Ty were the definition of blood not being thicker than water. I was happy how Satisa allowed herself to open up enough to become friends with the twins because they rode for her more than her own sister did. Overall a good read.
First of all, whats up with all the fires? I needed something else. And why was the shop set on fire again?
Second, the editing missed A LOT. Lack of punctuation made this a hard book to follow. I had to re-read some sentences over and over for clarity and most of those sentences didnt add to the story and therfore could have been eliminated.
Third, Satira got on my nerves.
Last, I gave this 3 stars and kept reading for Prince alone. I was really invested in seeing how things would play out. But without him being such a strong character, I would have DNR'd this at about 20 percent because at that point, there were too many errors and inconsistencies.
Secret baby is my favorite trope. I loved Priest. That man knew exactly what he wanted and did not play about his family. Satisa had to learn the hard way that there’s nothing wrong with a helping hand and to leave some people where they’re at. My issue with this book was some of the conflicts in the story weren’t resolved. Who was lighting everything on fire? Nothing happened with Deja? Did Prince mom play a part in why their dad wasn’t around or was he just not holding himself accountable?
The editing could’ve been cleaned up a little bit more, especially because they’re tagged on Amazon. What was up with all the fires? That tragedy was repeated way too many times. Who was Drew Gates? Was that Prince’s alias?
Rags to riches is definitely the vibe of this book.
Priest decides to leave the game and run a legit business. But those close to him showed their true colors through the process. Then one night he runs into Satisa and it’s damn near love and first sight.
Satisa was a beautiful lady but she was struggling with so much family shit, weighing her down. She meets Priest and life changes so much.
A one night stand can change your life.
This book had the perfect balance of urban fiction and romance in it.
I hope we get to dig into Prince’s life.
Spoilers:
I was so happy Satisa chose herself. Her family was getting on my nerves. China was just a terrible human. And so was Ty. I was a little mad she took the news the way she did because Ty wasn’t a saint. He was family but not good family.
I was praying real hard Chaz wasn’t a snake cousin. I’m glad he was on their side for the whole Dee fallout.

The main male character was great. He was goals. I feel like the book never connected with the main female character. She was annoying so many thoughts it dragged. I had to skip a lot of pages just to get through it. The sex scene was dry and I didn’t like the main female character. She never apologize. She never took accountability for her actions and she overdid everything. The book never connected at all don’t waste your time. I was being nice with my rating
I disliked Stasia A LOT. No amount of Priest could make up for how much I disliked her. I’d try more from the author bc the writing was cool, def could Use some edits but overall the characters took me out the story.
Honey, Priest did not come to play with none of y’all, not even Satisa. Priest was all about the business (his & Satisa) from the very beginning to the very end.
Satisa, her sister China, and their cousin Ty are on a mini vacay with the intent to spread Satisa & China’s mother’s ashes. The trip is interrupted by the unannounced appearance of China’s trifling boyfriend. A verbal then physical argument ensues between the two which leads Satisa to get involved. In steps Priest, owner of PR Security. He breaks up the fight and it’s an instant attraction between him and Satisa. Ultimately they agree to a one night, no names and no strings attached arrangement. Satisa fulfills a fantasy and has one of the best nights her life. Priest leaves her satisfied and filled with more than a little bliss and pleasure. Fast forward two years later and they meet again. The two have been thinking about each other since that night. Priest vows to make Satisa his if he ever sees her again. Satisa is hesitant and scared, she hasn’t had too much good to happen in her life. She’s always taking care of everyone else so much so that her dream has been put on the back burner. Priest, alpha male with his swag, BDE and diamond fangs steps in and steps up to relieve all that pressure!!! This isn’t strictly romance though, there’s some plot twists and turns, a little bit of action and backs being blown out. I’m trying to find out which denomination Priest belongs to, I think I need to switch congregations. They don’t make ‘em like this at my church. I’m ready to be anointed with oil and drenched in Holy Water
Honestly a let down. I was really just underwhelmed with this. The plot was lacking and Satisa was just very annoying. The amount of chances she gave her terrible family should be criminal, she was so stubborn to let Priest take care of her, girl he rich!! He can afford it! Also the amount of times our FMC was called ‘shy’ gave me the ick, it was so overdone, her nickname in her friend was literally ‘shy’, like we get you’re shy😒 Priest, that is a man right there 😩 He knew what he wanted and didn’t play any games 😍 Love him. But honestly this was so disappointing, will be unhauling this book.
Man listen Priest is everything… Even though it takes me forever to read the good books I really had to savor Priest because I didn’t want it to end it was just too good. My man Priest loved on Satisa, Jasmine and Benji like nobody’s business once he got his woman that was the end and it’s only up for the family… I loved it so freaking much… The clowns in question Deja, Dee, Reggie and China got exactly what they got and every bit of what they deserved. I was glad to see Prince on the up and up though. I loved the family it wasn’t put together and manicured you got what they gave and that brought realism to the pages. Freaking amazing overall and I can’t wait for what’s next
This was on my TBR for a long time but I’m glad I finally read it. Priest, our MMC was 😮💨🥵 and I enjoyed his POV the most. I really like how his relationship developed with Benji. Satisa, the FMC was okay…a little annoying tbh but also relatable. I liked the story and seeing them navigate their complicated romantic relationship, as well as the familial and platonic relationships around them.
I will say this was too long, some aspects were repetitive, and the China/Reggie storyline was getting on my nerves. All that said, I’ll definitely pick up the second book (novella) and the third book about Prince!
Priest and Satisa meet when Satisa beats the shit out her sister ain’t shit baby daddy. Sparks fly and Satisa & Priest agree to a one night stand with no attachment. Fast forward, two year later Priest founds out him and Satisa made a daughter. I loved how Priest stepped up with not only his daughter but with Benji. China wasn’t shit… neither was Ty nor Reggie. I’m glad they each other there’s but China deserves to be in body bag too. I low key want a spin-off with the twins especially Nesha & Chaz
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tisa and Priest story was so cute. The fact that Priest was a provider and stepped up the second he found out about his daughter shows how he’s a real man. He was so patient and loving towards Tisa and that’s how I feel every woman should be treated by their man. Tisa was such a sweet soul. She stepped up and took care of her sister and cousin even though they were so immature and very awful towards Tisa. Tisa as well was so good to Priest. I can definitely relate to Tisa minus the kids.
There relationship was beautiful! My only downside about the book was that I felt like there was unnecessary information and drama that wasn’t needed in the book but overall beautiful story!
3.5 for me Overall it was a good story line and def had the potential to be better. Priest the MMC, was love bombing the hell outta Tisa. And that can be overwhelming. I feel like there were pertinent parts to the story that were skipped over, multiple times which is why I couldn’t give it a 4.5-5⭐️ I am still getting used to the fast pregnancy trope.
Priest is such a book bae. He knew what he wanted and never shied away. Stastia had a hard life but it never deterred her hustle. She had a dream and she was going to work for it no matter what. One night changes her whole life.
I enjoyed this book a lot. I can’t to read more from this author.
I wanted to stop reading at 28% then again around 55-60%. Then I started skimming-skipping most of satisa & rolling my eyes…a lot.
I swear all my reviews start the same. I just want a FMC that stands in business abt the MMC. Satisa folded, flaked, (insert another F word) from day 1. Satisa was annoying to her core. Nothing she did or said made sense. You don’t trust him but he hit raw on day 1? You couldnt find him in 2 years but you knew his name and the business he owned..
Priest was pure 6’3 230pounds of steady & constant PRESSURE! That man did not let up. & as much as she was running & creating tension I wish he would have taken his baby and left. Let her be miserable by herself. From night 1 he did everything he said he would do. He went above and beyond protecting & providing. & she started her bs on night 1 too. Because with everything he did & how he moved if she was still finding problems there’s no hope.
She said they wouldn’t exchange names or numbers but Priest was letting her know he wanted more. He told her his sister had an accident , begged her not to leave and promised to buy her another plan ticket home. What did she do? …leave. Then 2 years later SHE says she left because he faked the accident story… but it was real. At one point in the book Priest asked if she’s going to continue having conversations without him and that’s what happened the whole book. She’d come up with these random conclusions/thoughts then pin them to him all while she never Said a word to him. It’s passed by overthinking it’s pure self sabotage that she only had towards him. Not her sister or cousin👀
I just don’t get the trope honestly. How much reassurance and effort does one person need because Priest moved mountains the moment he saw what it was.
This book was full of nothing but exciting adventures.
Who knew a one night stand would turning into a fiery romance 🥰
Satisa seemed as though she was carrying the weight of the entire family and I hated that for her so bad. I was so glad that she was able to meet a Mr. Sit down baby I got this man!
Deja was a the grimmest mf ever. Not only did you cheat but you kept coming around as if somebody missed your mixy ass! 😵💫😵💫😵💫
China … ohhhhhh miss thang i would have had the family slow singing and flower bringing after finding out what tf you had planned raggedy ho!
This book was great and I loved it down seriously. I’m so glad they got their HEA. I thought Satisa was done for a minute there.

At some points the story just got long winded. The author's writing style is weird at times (I found myself rereading sentences that were written so awkwardly) and there are enough grammatical errors that can make reading "Priest" challenging. Based on the title, I was not expecting a dual POV romance and I think the book would've better if it was told solely from the MMC’s (Priest) point of view. That said the novel is very engaging and entertaining with interesting characters.
It has potential, but it needs to be edited. It’s giving ghetto, and I only got through the first 15-20 pages. The paragraphs are overly lengthy. The sentence structure is poor. It was difficult to hold my attention because of all the syntax errors. I wanted to trudge through the trenches of this book as it is so hard to find new writers that are actually good. In this case, I couldn’t. DNF unfortunately.
This book started promising then it got more ridiculous as time went on. The murder, the fires, the dealing, the thugness. All fine by the way. I have nothing against it. I just like cohesive stories. And characters that are consistent. Also when there’s sex literally in every second scene and the characters cope with that -!:/or are the only reason they’re together. I don’t know.
