Me encanta 🥰

The Edolas arc is all but done, with the boss--a.k.a. the king--being roundly defeated by the usual combination of teamwork and determination. I'm not quite in sync with Mystogan's reasoning for entirely siphoning the magic out of Edolas (paraphrased): "people will be greedy for magic, and therefore it must be removed from the world." So, uh, people will be greedy for money, and therefore it must be removed from the world, too, I guess? All they really need is a system of magic taxation so that magic doesn't accrue in very few people's hands. Right?

Bullet points, since I'm in lazy reviewer mode...

- I'm not a fan of Mashima's cat designs, and out-and-out dislike Nadi and Lily's.

- As has often happened with the latter parts of Fairy Tail's plot arcs to date, the whole thing with Mystogan draining Edolas' power wasn't foreshadowed enough, and therefore didn't have the impact that it could have. Some sort of hint that he was planning a coup, or intending to drain the magic against his father's will (I'm assuming he is the king's son) before that plot point popped into existence in the 11th hour, would have better solidified that part of the story.

- I rather liked the the dragon mages' powers being visually symbolized by dragons, especially when they were all working together against the king.

- Is Lily really going to be Gajeel's cat? Since Lily rescued Mystogan when he was a baby (what's his background, anyway?), his sticking around as Mystogan-the-king's retainer instead would have more of a narrative kick to it, imo, but that could just be me and my love of the "loyal retainer" trope.

- And here we're going to get into fan service, again, so feel free to skip this bullet point if that isn't of interest to ya. If I thought the fan service in this manga was egregious before, somehow it's getting more intense. Some of the poses literally look like they were copied from porn photos or videos (i.e. ep. 193's title page, panel 8 on p. 95), and the Erza vs. Erza battle in particular has tit, ass, or crotch shots on every page, and sometimes more than one in a single panel because there are two female characters.

If this was a fight between two male characters, there wouldn't be this nonsense killing any sense of gravitas. As is, the characters earnestly declaim their beliefs about human nature while beating the living daylights out of each other, all overlaid with vaguely smutty ridiculousness. Obviously there's an intended audience for this, otherwise it would be more subdued. I'm just not part of it. Also obviously. I'm a little grinchy that this gets a T rating, and much milder content like Whisper Me a Love Song is OT.

This manga's freewheeling storytelling is quite fun, if I'm in the mood for it, and it could just be that the characters and situations it was focusing on (fanservice aside) weren't all that interesting to me, and that has made me kind of discouraged about it. It seems to be time to read some more Beth-friendly manga for a while. Bye for now, Fairy Tail! 2.5 stars, rounded up.

Legipyon crashes into the Lacrima island
Gejeel puts his and Lily’s battle on pause, then proceeds to tell him that he will bring him back to the guild and make him, his cat
The island meets the edge of Extalia, concerning the old farmer cats
Minister Nadi jumps in from of a rock thrown at Carla, which stop the stoning.
The queen (Chagot) comes down to the commotion - she looks like a version of Carla?
Chagot reveals she is a just a regular exceed, having no special powers to aide them in the destruction of Extalia- she only has one wing?
Chagot can see a bit of the way people will die, they used this to claim they could goose which humans die. But they didn’t ACTUALLY make people die
Every Exceed came to help with pushing the Lacrima island off Extalia
Lily was pronounced ‘Fallen’ and kicked out of Extalia for saving a wounded human baby.
They manage to push it!
Mystogen makes it in time to send the Lacrima back to earth through an Anima hole. Sending everything back to normal?
OH LILY SAVE MYSOGEN’ S LIFE AS A BABY??? - and he’s the Prince?
NOOOOO!!! NIGHTWALKER SHOOTS THROUGH LILY’S ABDOMEN
The king is in a giant robotic enhanced armoured dragon (Droma Anim means Dragon Knight)
There is an army attacking the exceeds turning them into Lacrima’s so the FairyTail guys are coming to help
Mystogens Edolas name IS Jallal
He was able to block a blast from the dragon cannon thing - but he was hit after putting an attack on it ‘you fall and die to earth, where you fell’
NATSU, GAJEEL AND WENDY CAN HIT THE MACHINE WITH THEIR DRAGON SLAYER MAGIC!!!
Wendy can buff the boys
This fight is so cool!!
Natsu eats the fire from some bombs that explode and Gajeel is chewing on the dragons tail XD
The Droma Anim evolves to Black Heaven, the King plans to capture the 3 Dragonslayers to continue his plan
Mystogan let himself get hit to be able to check on Lily ;-;
Legipyon gets shot down
Erza vs. Erza - round 2 (“two Ezra’s is one to many, this battle won’t end till only one of us is still standing”)
The Droma Anim drains magic from the whole world when used, that’s why it was forbidden
Gray and Lucy are losing their battle too, to many royal guards. Carla jumps in front of a bullet for Happy :(
Edo-FairyTail join the fight in the last second.
Nightwalker uses her strongest spear: Sacred Spear: Ravelt. So Scarlet requips into Armadura Fairy, an armor named after the guild
Earth-Erza gives Edo-Erza a heartfelt talk, opening her eyes to a new meaning for life and a new reason to fight for the right things.
Edo-Erza genuinely hears her (own) words, and forfeits the fight after the destroyed the entire island they were on.
Mystogan plans to reverse the Anima and erase all magic???
Natsu, Gajeel and Wendy are badly hurt, looking like they won’t be able to defeat it
The three all use their respective dragon breath attacks at once, causing a onslaught of damage
It gets dodged :( - then the Droma Anim attacks them
When it seems as if all hope is lost and they’ll lose, Natsu ‘borrows his tomorrows strength’ and motivates the others to push
Gajeel locks the leg down and Natsu uses Wendy’s dragon roar as a boost and whirlwind to increase is sword edge attack- he breaks it, and wins
The islands are falling because the Edolas worlds magic is vanishing- every Edo-person thinks the world is ending
Mystogan is saying Edolas needs a new king, but not him, he asks Lily to punish him and take his place as king?
Lily refuses
Natsu, Gajeel and Wendy are terrorising the towns people and the castle?
It was planned by Nadi who over heard Lily and Mysogans squabble over the next king
Natsu provokes a fight, and makes sure everyone knows he’s the prince.

There was lots of fighting in this book, really action driven and goosebumps inducing. The plot progressed heaps in this one volume, and I love Gajeel and Lily <3

3.75/5 I still think this story arc is ridiculous. Not terrible but not as good as previous arcs. Volume 23 has the Edolas arc dang near ended and I’m sure it will only be only a couple chapters on volume 24.

There are some cool fights in here and some pretty huge reveals. Mytogen’s origin in general is a big one. Some epic battles here particularly our 3 Dragon Mages taking on the king of Edolas in a giant bastardized Mecha Godzilla. It was fun but dumb fun.

Then the whole world of Edolas is flipped on its head. Resulting in some huge consequences for this alternate world. Once a plans in place to fix that the arc will be done and I’ll be happy to move on to a new one.

The 3 Dragon Slayer Mage’s and Droma Anim on the cover of Volume 23.

Umm. The battle between dragon slayers and King Edolas was fine because there was a big special attack by dragon slayers. However, the interesting was not enough for me a little bit. Eventually, the power or spirit of “Never give up” let them to a victory. Sometimes, it is ok to win a battle without any serious injuries, I think.

Another fantastic volume. The desperate fight to save the exceeds turns into both a larger and a more intimate battle for the future of the world they've come to.

And we are just about done with this arc with our Dragon Slayer's leading us towards victory. This is not my favorite arc in the whole series, especially now that I've read it several times now and perhaps I am tired of it. Oh well, it was still a fun time this afternoon reading through this arc non the less. :)

This will be my full review for this entire series. I already read this comic from volume 1-30. Suppose there 50 volume more of this series but I prefer not to finish it as I don't really like the time-skip idea in this series.

To clarify, I love the idea of time-skip. But, in this series, I really hate it. It make Natsu and other main member weaker. Why make them weaker? I want to see MC progress throughout the series. Then, suddenly become weaker. Not to mention when MC want to win each battle, power of friendship keep coming back each battle.

Furthermore, there are a lot of un-explained things happened in this series. The dots are not connected rather than scattered throughout the series. It just there to fill the plot-hole. Rather than explaining, Mr Hiro keep continuing the series and keep adding new characters each volume.

So, after the time-skip, I determine to stop reading this series. I don't want to ruin my memories of this awesome series. For most part, this series actually had huge potential because of interesting and lovable character, but the plot is keep on damaging this series slowly.

Thoughts on this volume:
• Gray meeting Edo Gray for the first time and the two of them immediately commenting on the others clothing habits.... real.
• WHERE is edo-Gajeel? I just wanna talk.
• The Chagot reveal with her one wing was very cute, but props to Wendy for getting incredibly angry with the racist cat people pelting her with tomatoes.
• Why were the cats so racist? Why couldn't they have been like "we are benevolent gods" like ffs
• Dragon robot is so stupid, Gajeel should've just ate it all.
• Erza vs Erza ending was crazy good. Like yes, we have a good heart! I know because you are me! We are you! Together, we is I!
• Mystogan hitting the "no u" button and immediately reversing everything. Okay, slay.
• Also, Mysto-Jellal immediately sacrificing himself as the villain? He and Jellal really are the same. (Number of self-saxrificing, near suicidal plots by some version of Jellal count: 3 and counting).

The exceed of Extalia and the fairy tail wizards coming together to help save Extalia was so wholesome omg it actually brought tears to my eyes.

And then the team up of Natsu, Wendy and Gajeel?! It was something I didn’t know I needed but now I need more of it!

Loved how the fairy tail it edolas came to the rescue of the the earth-land members <3

“No matter what world it’s in. . . This guild is so boisterous.”

Ezra vs Ezra… but make it Ezra Scarlet making Nightwalker see the errors of her ways. Hehehe

I’m looking forward to see how Mystogen is going to come out on top, will he become the new king of Edolas? And what does Natsuc Wendy and Gajeel have in store to help him get there?

This story arc has been one wild and crazy ride...and it comes to an unexpected conclusion in this volume. The King of Edolas has been defeated.... but the big surprise is by whom! The Two worlds are in turmoil and it's going to take a hero and a villain in order to bring peace and balance to it all. Who will that be??? Also, the Ezra versus Ezra battle was mighty cool as well as the Dragon Slayers! This volume had it all, and even though I was not onboard for all the changes, I do feel this volume excels and does so much for not only this story arc but the entire series! Great stuff and always amazing art and quirky adventures abound in each and every volume of Fairy Tail.

I was really excited during the lead up to this final battle but honestly, it wasn't as epic as previous ones. This was really good because I love the slayer magic so much and it's so interesting to see all the different ways it functions; especially in this different world. The issues with Erza and Erza were pretty great! Her heart and willingness to do anything for her friends/family is the best thing about her. It really shined bright in this volume. I'm very interested to see how the decisions reacting to magic in this world will play out in the next one.

I'm getting really tired of this arc - too many characters and alternate personalities. Please tell me this arc is over soon.

The only reason I'm giving this two stars is for the artwork - the dragons are amazing.

I jumped through this thing so much action in this volume, and they still had time to make fun of Lucy. HA!! I love the cat people, they are so cute and fierce. I am so glad I have the next one to start on.

A long and noisy battle between the dragon magic members of the Fairy Tale guild and an evil king, who is in a big cyberdinosaur that has been sucking up all the magic in the kingdom. It's okay, but I didn't really get anything out of reading it. It didn't make me feel anything.

This volume really saved the Manga version of the Edolas arc for me, very exciting action packed and has some of the charm the Anime version ends up having.
