It took me way to long to read this book. I had no problems putting it down and I just had to force myself to finish it so I could move on to something else. The twist on how vampires were created wasn't enough to keep my interest. Several times I thought, "Oh, I think it's going to pick up now," only to have my attention held for 2 or 3 pages.

It needs editing or even proof reading would have worked better because the author got her facts a little mixed up, she was calling one twin the others n

Janiera Eldridge introduces you to a whole new world of vampires. How they're made? Well, that's still a question left unanswered. There is a creator and the process is a secret. *shrugs* Dana and Ani are soul sisters. Dana is human and will live as long as her soul sister Ani, who is a vampire and was created by Donovan. Dana is immortal and will live as long as her soul sister is alive. But when Dana is drugged and

Wow, what a hard read....

Ani and Dana are ‘soul sisters’ who look like identical twins. When we’re introduced to them, Dana is working at the local department store and her ‘soul sister’ Ani is present only when Dana is in distress.

I had a bit of trouble with this book. For me, the editing needed a lot of help. The text alignment in my e-book version was centered (like in a poem), I don’t know about you but I’ve been trained to read books that have a justified tex

Dana became an immortal in the early 19th century. Though she is not a vampire--that would be the soul sister she helped create, Ani. But when Ani goes a little too far in protecting Dana one night, their creator does not approve...and he wants to destroy them.

Ani and Dana must come together with unlikely allies as they figure out a way to keep themselves alive.

This was quite a short book. It started off with a lot of promise that kind of fizzled for me as it went along.

The story is told with ro

I truly enjoyed this book for exactly what it is a story about love and survival amongst woman, who happen to be Soul Sisters. Looking for something that would spark something so profound and earth shattering that Janiera, who I believe has become an awesome fan of Nerd Girl would thank me for. Soul Sisters is a very interesting read. I have to say that the book grabbed me from the first page and kept me reading until the end. When I got to the end I needed to know what happens next but I will have to wait for book two. As I was reading this book two things stuck out to me, first what would you do for the love of your life? and second what would you do for your sister? These questions were answered for me as the story progressed and I loved how the author drew you in slowly giving you ...more

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. Early 1900's, Dana meets and marries Bryson and is very much in love until Bryson is in a hiking accident. He is at deaths door when Dana is approached by Donovan, a vampire, who tells her that he can save her husband if she gives him her soul. In return she will be immortal and get a soul sister, a twin, that is vampire and will always be with her. She will do anything to save Bryson and takes the deal, unfortunately Bryson is killed in an ...more

This is a unique premise with characters that are rarely seen in most of the vampire stories I have read. Additionally, the ‘creation story’ for Ani was very cleverly presented, and provided a pair of immortals who are inexorably connected in so many ways. The author shows great promise, dealing with characters that develop into fully realized beings while still providing a very clearly defined set of differences for the two sisters. Attitudes and responses are well delineated with a sense of re ...more

This was a unique take on vampires, especially on their creation, the hierarchy and the way they are involved in society. It follows Dana, the main character, throughout her life in the 1800’s to the present day, alternating between now and then. I enjoyed the flashbacks, they enriched the depth of who Dana was and eventually, how Ani came into being and the relationship between the two as ‘soul sisters’. I liked the idea that if one died, the other would too, making the

We first meet Ani and Dana in present day and learn that Ani is a vampire and Dana is human. Then, we learn that in 1912, Dana was married and her husband, Bryson, was dying. A man named Donovan approached her and made her an offer to spare his life. She agreed and Ani was created. The story switches back and forth between modern day and the early 1900's to give us good background on the two sisters. Ani and Dana's lives are now in danger and they round up allies to help them survive.

So, I am very picky when it comes to my vampire books. It's hard for me to just read a "by the numbers" vamp story that follows the basic plot line of pretty much every other vampire book out there. That's why 'Soul Sisters' by Janiera Eldridge was so refreshing. There is so much going on here, and so much of it new, or at least original. I love the idea of two sisters being immortal; one a vampire, one simply able to live forever, and yet linked for all eternity and kind of bound to one another ...more

Once I was left alone long enough, I couldn’t stop reading this book till the end. When Dana’s husband gets sick and it looks as though he isn’t going to make it, Dana makes a deal with her own devil Donavan and gives him some of her soul so she can save her husband. From her soul, Ani is created and is considered her soul sister. Without one the other would die and now have lived for over 100 years even after an accident claims Dana’s husband. They are two completely different personalities. Da ...more

A Review of Soul Sister by Janiera Eldridge

Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this book for an honest review.

I appreciated the plot of this book - it is a very clever twist on the paranormal or vampire tale. The story, however, had potential in its telling for more description on the internal psychological conflict that must surely exist within each twin. There is also a need for further description to draw a reader into the scenes within the book.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book as it is not your normal run of the mill vampire book.
I loved the intrigue and strong story line it kept me turning the page until I realised I had reached the end and I hope there is a second book as I can't wait to see how Ani takes to being the creator and if anything develops between Dana and Christian and also to see what happens now that Ani has become the Creator.

Dana is human who has built a normal human life. As much as you can when she was born in 1912. After making a deal with an ancient vampire shortly after her marriage, she gave part of her soul to create a vampire – her soul sister, Ani. After a long journey over the years, the two now live together, best friends and greatest confidants, the siblings are enjoying their eternal lives in their own ways.

Except Ani’s reckless behaviour draws more attention from the powers that be. Until her passionat

The story
This story kind of feels like an origins story. You know, an origins story is like an introduction. Hou have the fun of introducing the characters and getting to know them, but that takes time. I know the vampire genre has become quite cliche, but I've been a long-time fan of these creatures of the night, and I'm always interested in reading a new fang-filled tale. So naturally I was excited to read Soul Sisters, by author Janiera Eldridge, a story about immortal twin sisters with what others have called a very unique vampire twist. I will say, the "twist" was certainly a different way to explain how vamps have come to be, but that alone was not enough to carry the story and mostly bec ...more

Light-years better than the Twilight Saga series. Characters with a real personality and not only this but also ones that each of us can relate too. Another thing I must highlight is the fact that Eldridge doesn’t make her characters fit the mold but rather opens up a new realm – coloured characters and this is a new/fresh and fantastic thing to see hero’s and heroine’s with a different backgrounds to the otherwise typical and over-represented characters.

WHAT I LIKED:

I adored how unique the premise of this story was. Basically, Dana gives her soul to Donovan in exchange for saving the love of her life. In doing so, her soul sister, Ani, is created. Ani is Dana's identical twin except for one key difference: Ani is a vampire. That right there is an awesome concept and so unique from anything I've ever read. Overall I thought this was pretty good, there was some romance, plenty of adventure, and a great relationship. The sisters are over 100 years

Janiera Eldridge I am intrigued. I really enjoyed the twist in this book and the new story. I read a lot of paranormal fiction, and this has a totally different story, fresh and new. Soul Sisters begins with Ms. Eldridge setting up the relationship between her two main characters, sisters Ani and Dana. Ani is a vampire and kills a girl that Dana works with for arbitrary reasons. The author then flashes back a hundred years earlier when Dana was a girl and Ani was not in her childhood-Quite a hook that kept me reading. Later, the title is explained. Dana’s husband dies and she makes a deal with Donovan, a head vampire, for her husband’s life. Part of the deal invo
