رمزية كبيرة في هذا العمل ، لم ترقني على الاطلاق ، يحاول الكاتب ان يرمي الى ان الكنز الحقيقي هو ما يحمله القلب و ما تستقيم به النفس ، لكنه فشل في اقناعي .

ببساطة، قد تختلف معه عندما تدركه .. لكن اختلافه مذهل. اختلاف آسر.
موريس ماترلنك لم يكن يشاهد العالم، إنه يكتب عقله.
هو باختصار هادئ الخيال، ويُحطّم هوسك على سبيل المزاح.

خدعت في البداية عندما قرأت في عدّة مواقع أنَّ كنز البسطاء رواية وهذهِ كانت كافية لاقناعي بأنَّ أصحاب المكاتبات الإلكترونيَّة لا يقرأون في العادة. أمَّا الأمرُ الآخر فهو جائزة نوبل التي حصل عليها الكتاب والكتاب وليس غريبًا عن حشاشة نوبل أن يمنحوا جوائز لكتب كهذهِ قد يكونوا أقدر منّا على تذوّق الجمال والأدب لذلك منحوها عام 2016 لمغنّي. وخدعني العنوان أيضًا. وأخيرًا خدعتني المواقع التي كتبت أمور شيقة عن الكتاب.

As a deeply spiritual person, I am really excited to be introduced to Maeterlinck and his ideas about the different regions of our existence--than those of reason or intelligence. I understand that he idealizes the overlooked spiritual existence of humanity. Not to say that he trivializes action and interpersonal dialogues, but he certainly prioritizes the inner dialogues with the self and the unity with the whole existence.

L’un des plus beaux livres que j’aie lu jusque-là au niveau du message délivré. J’ai eu un peu de mal à y être sensible au début, comme si ce que l’auteur disait se déroulait bien au-dessus de moi, dans une sphère privilégiée et spirituelle, mais peu à peu, cette distance s’est atténuée et je me suis senti davantage « dans le texte ».

Ce livre a sur moi un effet particulier. Pendant plusieurs mois je l'ai ouvert aléatoirement et ouvert encore, en ai lu et relu les pages au hasard des pages, chaque fois transportée par les mots de Maeterlinck. Je ne l'explique pas. Je l'ai lu en long en large et en travers comme on dit et plusieurs fois avant de le terminer finalement et de refermer le bouquin sur sa quatrième de couverture. Une belle découverte.

A set of wonderfully written metaphysical essays. Maeterlinck's grasp of language and storytelling is unparalleled, and Sutro's translation is top-notch. Prefigures the surrealist/situationist fascination with sense of being at many points. My only criticism is how steeped in turn-of-the-century bourgeoisie thought Maeterlinck was, which shows through only tangentially in this volume and moreso in other works aside from this one.
