Sometimes you have to leave home to find your Destiny

Book 3 of the Wiccan-Were-Bear Series

Daeton Stalking Horse steps into a realm that is full of unique creatures and danger she never knew existed in the safety of her were-bear den. A wizard, who would sacrifice her to gain incredible power and destroy the realm, could be anywhere along their journey, as her guards vow to keep her safe. In the midst of their travels, she finds love in the most unusual places with the most unexpected of men - the two from her recurring dreams. With their support, can she keep the wizard from sacrificing her and destroying the realm she's come to think of as home, or will all be lost with one dark betrayal?

This book contains a feisty were-bear princess who hates walking and secrets, two dream men with unique genetics, and a few battles thrown in for good measure. A Price for a Princess is a book for mature audiences only and contains sexually explicit content.

This is book 3 in the Wicca-Were-Bear series. This is the story of Daeton and her two mates. One is a centaur, names Pers and the other is a Leoneman , named Ekho. She is hunted by an evil wizard. She is headed to the castle where the prince of the realm will protect her. She meets so many Were's along the way. She saves two slave girls who are gifted to her. And ultimately saves the whole kingdom. A good continuation of the series. This is of purse Ash and Axe's little Were-Bear sister.

I want to first start with how much I was looking forward to this book. I had just finished the first two in the series and was so excited to see that R.E. Butler, had written Daeton’s story. There was so much promise to the story. When we left Daeton she was leaving for another realm with two incredibly hot guards of near extinct bear shifters. She also had an incredibly important destiny to fulfill.

That being said I have to say how disappointed I was with this book. I didn’t even finish it, I am sad to say. I got about 70% of the way through and just had to stop. There are a few reasons I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I wanted to. First, there was a lot of walking, talking and an inner monologue of complaining on Daetons part and not so much of anything else. We also got a lot of descriptions of the walk and the town. The guards basically ignored Daeton and barely talked, so we missed even that dialoug and instead got how much Daetons feet and legs hurt. With a full length novel, this is ok, even expected, but when you are reading a short you have half the pages to get everything in. I personally don’t want my pages wasted with complaining and town descriptions. I’m a get to the point sort of girl, which the other stories in this series did. I was expecting more, more danger, more interesting dialogue, more good sex.

I also had a problem with R.E. Butler’s choice of mates for Daeton. Ok, I have a pretty high tolerance for a lot. It took me a while to get down with twin brother mates, seemed too incestuous for me, but it ended up being well written so I was able to go with it. But in this book first we get a centaur, which once I found out could shift to human form, I was ok with. I just couldn’t figure how it would work otherwise. Then there was the lion person thing. I can’t remember its technical name. It was just too much animal for me to get down with it. It had fur and a tail and didn’t shift out of that form. Shifters I like, more like love, they shift between human and animal form, all the way. This was a cross between the two and didn’t shift out of the form. When she was describing stroking her mates fur while.. It just creeped me out to a degree I wasn’t comfortable with. It was too much animal for me… If you don’t have a problem with that, cool, then this won’t bother you. Me, it was too much and pushed me further then I was willing to go. If you’re good with it, more power to you, if you’re not you may want to avoid this book. I think this was my main issue with the book. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.

So I left the book 70% the way through and when I left the book they were still walking, again… So I don’t know what happens in the last 30% but there would have had to have been a lot jammed into that last section of the book. We still hadn’t found out anything in regards to the prophecy or what Deaton role is in it, we hadn’t met the Prince, the wizard was still at large and hadn’t made any huge aggressive moves in attempt to grab Daeton, there was so much that was still left unfinished that I don’t know that would have been sufficiently addressed crammed into that last 30%. As mentioned when you have a short you have to more effectively manage your time line, it was like she spent so much time walking that she ran out of time and would need to jam everything into a small section of the book. R.E. Butler did a great job managing this in the previous two books. However, to be fair, I didn’t finish the book so I guess I can’t really speak on this fully, for all I know this could have been a To Be Continued…. And there may be another installment on the way.

I am not actually going to give this book an actual rating, I’ll let future readers who read this decide on their own. Because I do have to admit the main reason I put the book down was the lion/person thing and that is my personal issue. Otherwise, I probably would have finished the book.

I am so glad I realized that I'd missed this book from the "Wiccan-Were-Bear series. It is truly my favorite of the 4 books. Why you ask? It's the Centaurs plain and simple. These Fae and their Fated Mates. Holy Cow! I wish it was that easy in human-dom. Daeton Stalking Horse, daughter of the king of the Were-Bear tribe, is in danger and is sent with two special guards from the Fae realm, to meet and be protected by the king of the Fae realm from a bad wizard who wants to kill her for her (yet undiscovered) powers. She also is a virgin and has never shifted yet to a bear.
She has been having dreams about her fated mates too. That's all I'm divulging. Good world-building, some exciting fight scenes, and a HEA. (happily ever after). Who could ask for more?
Pretty hot and romantic sex scenes so I recommend this book for all over 18 yrs. of age.

3.5 stars. An easy entertaining read once past all the travelling part.
Whilst this was a good story with quite a lot happening, I just found the main part of the book revolving around Daeton’s travels seemed excessive. We had days of walking and talking about really nothing.
I really liked the interesting mates Daeton ends up with. Perseus who is a centaur and Ekho who is a Leonemen, a cat person, not a shifter.
Once Daeton meets Perseus things improved for me and I did like what happened once they reached the palace.
I have owned this book for many years and have read and reviewed it a long time ago but reviews submitted from the back of books seem to be missing.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 - I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!!
Daeton is the definition of “reluctant royalty,” and I adored her. The journey into a new realm gave this book a fun fantasy twist while still keeping the emotional stakes high. Her dreams becoming reality? Loved it. Her unexpected mates? Even better. The danger felt real, the romance was intense, and the sense of destiny mixed with rebellion totally worked for me. I liked how the story shifted from protection to power—from being guarded to becoming a force herself. It’s the perfect fairytale-with-claws type of vibe.

This book is everything you can want and more. The story of Daeton and what happens to her is interesting and Not what you expect to find. The journey that she takes ISIS hard and very dangerous but well worth it in the end. Finding her mates and putting an end to the tyranny of a king that didn't care enough is just a side note of what took place. You haven't checked these books out. You really should.

A good tale and a good read.

Well somewhat confusing at times but it winds up in the end. Characters are sometimes confusing but retain a strong presence. The story is long but a pleasing read. Well worth the read.

Unexpected but good

This book was so not what I was expecting at all. While reading the second book I thought that the 2 guards were gonna be her mates not the 2 that ended up being her mates but all in all still a good book.

For her protection, Daeton Stalking Horse finds herself in a realm full of unique creatures and a danger she never knew existed and told that she’s a princess. Along the way to the Prince, she finds something more important than a kingdom…she finds her two mates in this captivating paranormal romance.

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on their toes with lots of action, suspense and romance. The story comes to life with well written scenes and details and the suspense and intriguing realm draw the reader deeper into the story. The strong compelling and magical characters grab the reader’s attention and ensure that they want to know more.

Daeton had to leave her family and her world behind and she’s understandably unsure about what’s really going on in the new world she finds herself in. The reader can’t help but get caught up in Daeton’s story as new discoveries are made and she meets her two mates, a centaur and leonman and the passion between them explodes into a feeling of rightness and belonging that assures Daeton of her place in this new world.

Suspense builds as the group head to the palace and the danger escalates adding lots of spice to the story and the author has introduced a fascinating new realm and intriguing new characters to her series that adds excitement and lots of future possibilities to the series. I really enjoyed Daeton’s story and I must say she’s a very lucky young woman in regards to mates….yummy. Where was I? Oh yeah, I can’t wait to read the next one.

I really enjoyed this book. I actually kinda liked it a smidge better than the others. :) It was just so sweet and romantic and oh so yummy mates she found. I ACTUALLY thought Rysk and Tyrant might have been her mates...boy was I wrong! LOL. I was oh so pleasantly surprised at who her mates actually were. This realm she was whisked to was so interesting and majestic and really different. I love how Ms. Butler made this unique realm. Still on the mate front she meets Perseus, a centaur...yep you got it! He was really hot and so very nice and good to Daeton and then later she meets Ekho who is a Leonemen which is sort of a cat of some kind. He has a little fur on his body but functions like a man. He can't fully shift into an animal thats just the way he is and he's so sweet and cute too! Those are very good to her and treat her so well. Tough when they need to be but have great senses of humor and are so soft to their mate. The place where she is supposed to be safe from Prince Aedan's castle but along the way things seem off but we get to know once she gets to the castle with her mates and protectors that this Prince sold her off to the wizard who's after her. Ha...conveniently her first shift happens because she is sooo mad and takes that guy out! Now, although Rysk and Tyrant serve the Prince they had NO idea he betrayed them all. I felt bad for them. They were really nice guys and protected Daeton. I'm hoping they would get a story but it doesnt seem so. :( It was a great story and enjoyed reading it.

A Price for a Princess was an enjoyable read, bit more YA then the first 2 in the series but dateon is just 18..so I'll let that pass.
This book is basically made up of a bit of romance, lots of boring walking, unique characters & creatures, some hunky guards (because who doesn't want that) with some tantalizing sex scenes thrown in for good measure.

I gotta admit tho i was a little disappointed, mostly because it wasn't  what I expected....even tho really i enjoyed it & I really like dateon & i loved Perseus (dateon's first mate) & i mean LOVED! Not sure if its from my the lion, the witch & the wardrobe obsession as a kid, but I love centaurs...there so damn sexy...in a odd kinda way..lol. Then it got super weird with ekho (dateon's second mate) who's half lion & half man.. it was kinda creppy, he seemed ok & all but I didn't know where the flesh started & the fur ended... Maybe I'm thinking about this a bit much but what about his ummmm...member would that be hairy?? So yeah it was defiently Diffrent But hey that's what you want in a book right, twist & turns that you didn't see coming & some you don't want see.....Eva.
All in all ok but not as good as the first to, hopefully the 4th will be a little better.

Daeton is the king of the were-bears daughter and in the last book it was discovered that there was a plot against her. She had to leave and be bound to two men who will be her protectors and who will keep her safe. These men will not be her mates though. She has been having dreams of her mates. And she is hoping that she will find them in this new realm.

She does find her mates. One is a Centaur and the other one is a type of feline shifter that cannot fully shift and stays in his half cat form constantly. Her protectors are not happy about her finding her mates because their king believes that she is his true mate. But there is more to their king then they realize and his intentions may not be as good as they think they are.

My opinion: I gave this book 3.5 Hearts. I thought the book was great. I was looking forward to Daeton's story. Once I found out that the Centaur could shift into a man for the intimate scenes I was fine with that but the other guy is the reason I didn't give that it wasn't four hearts. I think that he was a great guy but the fact that he constantly stayed in a half shift I found to be a little weird. With that aside. I think that is definitely worth reading and I highly recommend it. Although it is book 3 in the series it can be read as a stand alone. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

A Piece for the Princess
Daeton Stalking Horse steps into a realm that is full of unique creatures and danger she never knew existed in the safety of her were-bear den. Having been around magical beings for her 18 yrs does not prepare for what she will find while on the run from a Wizard that wants to sacrifce her. She must trust the 2 men who will give their lives to protet her. Her dreams continue to haunt her of 2 sets of hands bringing her pleasure. She will find love in unlikey places and with beings that she never knew exsited.
This book was Awesome. I felt like I was right there with Daeton as she journeys through another realm.
The author was so descriptive that is took no imagination to picture the sights and sounds of Daeton journey.
M/F/M and Hottttttt!!! I loved this story line! What fantastic story telling! This realm that Daeton is in right out of some of the best magical paranormal reads I have ever read. I wish R.E. Butler would write more of this realm. The story was to short!! I want No I need more of this this realm!

I really liked the first two books in this series and decides to try this one. It was ok but not great. I think the real problem with this book it that the author spent so much time in the first half being overly descriptive about walking, walking and more walking and about how much her feet hurt that the last half of the book felt rushed. I could not get a sense of the characters especially the male characters. They felt shallow and had no development which is a shame because I felt with some work and more time they could have been wonderful. If this had been a full length book the start might not have been so bad because there would have been more time to flesh out the story but as is it does not work.

I found the book surprising good. I read the first two books of the series and liked them but wasn't sold on this series by R.E. Butler. This book changed this for me and I can't wait to continue the series. The sex was hot. The plot had interesting twists and turns.

Daeton Stalking Horse left behind everything to save her life and her family. While on her journey to meet her new protector, she meets her true mates. In order to find happiness, she must come her journey and make a life changing choice.

A short sexy read. Yes it is a bit too HEA at times, but if you take it for the sexy short story it is, it's enjoyable. Usually I find that love at first sight thing too much, somehow here it just worked. If you buy the whole soulmate concept then it seemed ok for Daeton to find her true love, or in this case loves, so quickly. The sex is pretty yummy, and not the entirety of the story so not overwhelming.

Great world building in this one. Plenty of action. Bad guys and heroic acts. I loved that Perseus is so open to giving Ekho a place in the mating. He realizes that Daeton is supposed to have two mates, so there for Ekho belongs. These guys are wonderfully sweet, protective and willing to do whatever Daeton needs to be happy.

Can't say I'm very impressed.

More so in this book, but also in the previous books, it feels like a a string of statements rather than a story with conversations.

Like always, the idea behind the book sounds good (which is why we read them right)... But the final product was well off the mark. I think the author relies on the sex to distract from the lack... It doesn't.

Daeton has had to leave everyone she knows to keep them safe. Her protectors have taken her into another realm and she has no idea what to expect. But into this new world, she is going to have an opportunity to meet new creatures and find the males she been dreaming of hopefully. This story will let you know how she's doing. This is a quick hot entertaining read. This is a reread.

A Price for a Princess ( Wiccan-Were-Bear Book 3)

This was a good story... But I was a little disappointment because I thought it was going to go in a differemt direction. I would really like to see a book with their lives after then settle down, to see how everything worked out.

This book was great! The only thing is was it was all romance and a less action. It was also over pretty quickly. But I still enjoyed it but I wish it had been more steamy like the first! Other than that I loved it.

This princess can kick some serious butt!

This book is different from the other Butler books that I have read in fact it reads more like an epic fantasy. There is the long and difficult journey with many hardships and battles along the way. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it.

While I thought this story started out kind of slow and predictable, the action kicked in and Daeton did save the day. I enjoyed the different realm they now live in and all the different otherworld species mentioned. I will continue with the series.
