to be quite fair, i was having a bad day when i read this. also, i have problems with books about the disorder that all emphasize to "have hope. this is not a life-sentence, this is not a prison; we have medications! So Many Medications that can help you not act like a mental patient." but only if i stay on meds, sacrificing my kidneys--amongst other things, and never ask if there's another way. but all the books say that very same thing and in that way, this book feels only okay. anything you find here can also be found in the bipolar survival guide, surviving manic depression, or any of the dozens of others on the subject. (just stay away from the memoirs.)

overall, this is laid out well and clearly and the writing is very thorough, (without including a manic freakout every other page which can be tough to read if you're trying at the time to not maniacally freak out), so if this is your main bipolar resource to surviving your bipolar express train to a bipolar life, you'll probably be pretty happy with it. very happy.
