Rogue Scandals #3

A Most Unusual Mistress

Rate this book
Why be a wife if a mistress has more fun? All Adriana has to do is get Ashley to agree...
***
Finding her intended bollocks-deep in his mistress when she is trembling with wanting and unsuppressed desires, does not impress Adriana. If being a mistress entails being a part of such passion, then a mistress only she will be.

Ashley, Earl of Addersley, thinks otherwise. He wants a wife on his terms. Terms that would send this lady of the ton screaming…or would they?

An agreement, a challenge, a single night of mind-blowing passion very well may determine the outcome. Wife or mistress? Which shall it be?

A Most Unusual Mistress was a fun read, an erotic novella with a lot of naughty going on.
The heroine, Adriana, spied on her husband to be, when he didn't succumb to any of her subtle hints that they enjoy themselves before the vows were said. She did not like it when she caught the kinky Earl bare arsed and balls deep in his mistress. A livid Adriana decides to call off the wedding.
Ashley, the Earl of Addersley, gets tipped off to her plans and he has no intentions of letting his fiance go. He's stunned at learning her reasons, and at what the lady has been up to. Even more shocking is her declaration that she'd rather be his mistress than his wife. So began a game of cat and mouse that had they both hope to win.
This short novella was steamy as it gets. Adriana discovers that the whispers about Ashley's dominance were all too true. The Earl had some serious kink going on, and the story had some very explicit scenes.
I never warmed up to the hero, even after the writer kinda gave an explanation for his attitude. Ashley was a straight up douche. Even as he's trying to seduce the heroine, the guy had his mind on returning to his mistresses and kinky activities. This knowing what his woman was offering. One minute he's thinking that no other man would have her, and then he's contemplating a three-some. I know it's cause he's into BDSM, but he was bald faced lying to her, and that was what made me dislike him.Not that he was an alpha jerk... those are my favorite heroes. But I do not like liars, and he was one.
I loved the heroine, cause she stood up to her man. I just wished she had made that liar grovel. I get that he probably wasn't gonna do that, but she deserved it. She didn't get it though, Ashley called every move she made.
I enjoyed it. It was a fun read, and a steamy one. I'd recommend it.

Adriana and Ashley are engaged to be married. Adriana cathes Ashley "bollocks deep" in her seamstress. That's where our regular run of the mill storyline takes a delightful detour. Adriana refuses to stand idly by and watch her fiance' share his body with someone else while placing her on a pedestal as wife material with unfulfilled needs.

Adriana was a woman after my heart. She was independent, headstrong, and temptestuous. When she confronted Ashley about his misdeeds I couldn't help smiling at the spunk she showed, particularly for a woman from that era. Ashley takes her up on her challenge and escorts Adriana to heights she's never known. I loved that Ashley was so willing and open to change his preconceived notions about the roles of women. Their chemistry was absolutely explosive and the steam level is off the charts hot.

This was a short, spicy read that you'll be glad you tried.

Rose has realized that she will be forever a ‘spinster’ in the eyes of the society in which she lives. She is known as the ‘chaperone’ of her niece, but that is in name alone.

Jasper and Nathanial don’t bend to what society expects. They have returned to their home country and have discovered over the years that as twins they want to share, everything, and Rose is someone they want to share.

After hearing her niece and her men in the throes of passion Rose realizes that she is missing something. But could she want what she has heard, two lovers.

She is accosted at a party by the dashing young twins who wish to have her between them. They bet for her company during a game of cards.

When she loses the bet they will go to extreme lengths to make sure she doesn’t run from them. And when they finally get her, between them, what will Rose do? And how will she react when the night is over?

I find very few authors who are comfortable enough to write characters, especially the heroine, who are older. By older I mean over the age of 30. I do enjoy when the heroine is of an age that isn’t the norm for books these days. Raven isn’t one of those authors who writes books about dimwitted, spineless, twenty year olds. Her female characters are strong, independent, and smart woman. And these days that’s a treat.

While this book can be read as a standalone (as can all the books in this series) Rose is introduced and spoken of frequently in To Please A Lady. Raven also refers to this as a sequel to that book.

Raven never disappoints with her regency and this tale is no exception. Such a wonderfully spirited and unconventional heroine, and a swoon worthy hero. What more can you wish for. My only complaint - it ended!

Fabulous!
