i thrifted a 4th printing of this cute little quote book on friendship from out of the closet in weho for $.50 (they were doing a 50% off books and media markdown sale) because i throughly the cover was rly cute (mine is blue, green, and teal cover with a bouquet of blue, pink, purple, and red flowers tied together with a baby pink ribbon inside a pink and white diamond), and i’m writing a piece about friendship and needed some inspo. the quotes i loved from this selection i truly adore, but as can be with the case with selections and anthologies, the overall selection can be a mixed bag of hits and misses and unfortunately that was the case for me here. some of the quotes felt extremely dated, some i disagreed with, some i felt indifferent about. loved the lithographic illustrations by eric carle. overall a 3 feels fair because what i did enjoy i enjoyed deeply and it’s cute, short, and sweet.
These sweet little collections of quotes are really endearing. This one isn't filled with exhausted words, thank goodness. I was also pleasantly surprised that Eric Carle illustrated it.
