Steven W. White has written science fiction and fantasy since he was a teenager. Along the way, he's been a Christmas tree farmer, a rocket scientist, and a snake handler. Lately, he's earned a Fiction MFA from the Northwest Institute of Literary Arts on Whidbey Island, Washington. He writes, teaches, and occasionally plays with fire in the Pacific Northwest.

An interesting short story set in historic Alexandria. The author captures the interest in higher learning and the diversity of people that would have been living in Alexandria quite well. Surprisingly it turns into a mystery and although some of the dialogue would not have been spoken in this time period (a little too modern) it does add some whimsy to both the characters and helps to lighten the intensity of the story. Overall I really enjoyed it!
