Stan and Jan Berenstain (often called The Berenstains) were American writers and illustrators best known for creating the children's book series the Berenstain Bears. Their son Mike Berenstain joined them as a creative team in the late 1980s.

The Bears are feeling a little crowded, but find a solution to moving in finding the contentment of keeping their old tree. I love this idea of working with what you have to make the best of things, and also the idea of thinking outside of the box in figuring out how to make the most of what you already have.

My only question - why put the baby in the attic, on a separate floor from everyone else? Isn't it time Brother Bear got his own room and Honey could move in with Sister? That's how I would have arranged it.

Following along in a story of the Berenstain Bears is always fun, especially in my opinion the moral filled Living Lights series. Lately I've been following along their official Pinterest page and reading about different tree houses. I remember as a kid reading over these books again and again being filled with questions about their house. It was in this book where all those questions are answerd. The Berenstain Bears: God Bless Our Home is great for teaching children about the blessings from God, but it's also about compromise and making things work. Through out every page the reader is taken on a guide through every room inside and out of the bear's tree house, even under the stairs! For a long time fan like me, I love this book for what it shares. Then also for my daughter it is great fun where she was able to name rooms and family members and is learning a bit more about the rooms in her own home. (Also able to point out that even Honey Bear has to get out of Mama's bed eventually!)

The Berenstein Bears never age! I remember reading them to my sister when I was young, and now to my own children. You can read and reread about these bears and laugh each time. There is something genuine and pure about them and I love that each story gives a clear message.

Ahh, contentment, something I know I have struggled with, just as Papa Bear does in this story. The tree house is becoming too small as his bear cubs grow and he feels that they need a larger home. The cubs don't want to leave all the wonderful memories of their tree house though. Can they find a way to work with what they have?

It is all about perspective really. In many other countries, the smallest of homes here is grand over there. Papa Bear and the family relive many memories in this story and continue to grow as a family. I love how the Berenstein books relate to life and guide, without being overbearing.

God Bless Our Home takes the readers on a trip with the Bear family down memory lane. Where the family was living before the tree house, what the tree house was like when they first arrived, to how it had and was still growing over time. Though I did not love this book as I do most others in the Berenstain Bears series, I do think it can be helpful with children who are needing a little help with big changes going on in their life. From family additions to moving to other events that result in big changes, this story may be able to help children understand why the changes are occurring and/or why the changes are necessary. I am sure there are a number of children who will love this story, and that it will help them when they need a little extra guidance. The back of the book also provides a mini activities/discussion page. If there is something bothering the child, this extra page can be a way to open a dialogue and allow the child to receive some help that it requires/requests.
