The only way to survive is to kill the ones you love.Having barely escaped the siege of Adriel with his life, Luik is carried north to the realm of Tontha in an effort to weather Morgui’s all-out assault on Dionia. Here, he sorts through the trauma of the recent past and attempts to piece together the whereabouts of his scattered Dibor, as well as his friends Fane, Hadrian, and Princess Anorra. When work begins on fortifying Mt. Dakka, Luik returns to the wreckage of Adriel and uncovers far more than he had anticipated. Events unfold quickly, and his path is plagued by mysterious encounters with the taken, and haunted by the increasing effects of evil upon Creation. However the growing darkness also gives rise to the forces of good, including rumors of the mythical Knights of the Lion. Summoned by the suffering of his countrymen, Luik risks everything in search of the fabled City of Ot, and his men embark on perilous missions to rescue the far corners of Dionia. But on the battlefield each faction of Luik’s devout Dibor comes face to face with the greatest opposition of all.Evil, now matured into its most perverted form, pits mankind against father against son, brother against brother. To hesitate means death; to strike means killing those they’ve sworn to protect.

[As I have not fully read this book, I won’t be giving it a star rating]

”What has been will be shadowed by the glorious Light of what will be.” ~Li-Saide of Ot

Alright, so obviously it’s taken me ages to read through this, and I’ve honestly accepted that I won’t ever finish it. I’d say I got about halfway (?) through and skimmed the rest. I absolutely loved this book and the way Christopher incorporated aspects of the Bible in.

A King who sends His son to redeem His people...

Luik and Anorra were favorites, but Li-Saide and his wisdom caught me the most. I would love to sit and talk to the dwarf and learn from him.

I also ended up taking pictures of several scenes that really impacted me.. it was that good.

The book is gory and violent in some places, but it was necessary to fully express the effects of evil and make it realistic. I could feel the pain and feel remorse over the wicked powers of the evil one.

While the book dragged on at times, and I felt bored, I would still recommend to those who are strong-hearted, and are fans of Chuck Black’s The Kingdom Series.

“If the Creators authority is yet greater than that of our enemy’s, so you not think that He will be faithful in this little task to guide us safely?”

“Aye, He will indeed be faithful.”

Amen.

Ok, definitely gory and bloody and horrific. The start of The Lion Vrie was a little slow as well, and kind of confusing for me. But... it did mount up magnificently. And ended... terribly! All I am left with is the probability that a beloved character had died, and another beloved character has been captured by the Dairne-Reih! -And, not to mention, quite a burning desire to read the next book, Athera's Dawn!
The White Lion Chronicles is definitely intense. I read through the last third of the book pretty quickly, encouraged to read more by the great action.
One strange thing about Christopher Hopper's writing style is that he sometimes ends a chapter with a great revelation, and then begins the next chapter as if it never happened. However, it does get talked over after a time. Also, his style is to write with more detail and explanations, which can make for a slower pace at times; but still a deep and great book!
I loved the whole scene of Luik asking for a certain young woman's hand in marriage! It was so sweet and deeply profound. A wonderful message displayed there! Also, always enjoy the dolphin parts!! Those scenes, island, dolphins and all, captivate me.
I'm really excited to see what happens in Athera's Dawn; how this all concludes. Thus far, its been pretty sad, so much death! Horrible battles! But still light, fun, and sweet moments in between. Also deep and thought-provoking moments. This series is getting more interesting. I only hope that the last book in this series ends happy with battles concluded--unlike the first two books!

Am I the only one who thinks they should have sent a dwarf to scope out the situation and avoided the tremendous amount of loss they faced instead?

Taking up where he left off, Christopher Hopper embarks on a tale beginning in destruction and ending in destruction. The world of Dionia is in ruins, their Kings have all fallen, and even the Most High has seemingly abandoned them. Morgui’s power is growing, his might spreading to the remotest parts of the land. The fallen one’s plan extends deep into Earth, as the Only Son prepares to lay His life down.

It is at this point, the weakest in all of the world’s time, that the Order of the White Lion—The Lion Vrie—reveal themselves.

Pick up this book, and enter another world. Christopher Hopper is by far the best world-builder since Tolkien. Matching, if not surpassing him, in languages, cultures, history, morality, characters, and more! The terror is real, the hope is powerful, and the love will bring you to tears. Laugh-out-loud-in-the-face-of-danger style humor and eloquence only the ancient world can bring.

The villains are wretchedly evil, it made me sick. And the heroes are immensely loyal, men and women of God, courageous in the site of hell itself, and broken servants of the Most High God.

Read this book, and come face to face with the true Maker of this world. Be prepared for your life to be changed. Join the Lion Vrie.

Oh yeah, and be prepared to storm Mr. Hopper’s home. He wrote one heck of a cliff hanger!

The kings of Dionia are dead or disappeared. Humans are turning from loyal men to treacherous Fallen in an instant, slaughtering their own kind without a single moment of hesitation. What is left of the armies has escaped to Mount Dakka, a mountain peak in the north. Luik, son of Lair, overall leader of the Dibor makes a slow recovery after he has recovered, before a long and cold inussle, or winter, Luik travels to find his love and friend, Princess Anorra, for she hasn’t been seen for many days. Once again, he returns nearly dead, alive only from the courtesy of the Most High. And again, the snow, wind, and cold of another inussle hit Mount Dakka. But against expectations, spirits remain high in the Mountain, and shouts of laughter ring through the streets. After the cold is gone, Luik sets to work fortifying Mount Dakka; for he is sure that Mordui will attack it.
And then, Luik travels to the city of Ot. There, he is anointed High King of Dionia, and when he returns to Mount Dakka, he crowns his friends among the Dibor the kings of the seven realms of Dionia. Next, Luik discovers the Order of the White Lion, or the Lion Vrie. But will the new Kings and the Lion Vrie be enough to defeat the evil and trickery of Mordui and the Dairn-Reih?

After reading Rise of the Dibor I didn’t really think I would like Lion Vrie… Well I was wrong, Lion Vrie is an original story about the Dibor, Fane, The Dwarves of Ot, Annora, the Lion Vrie, and The Almighty.

In the sequel to Rise of the Dibor, life is grim…

Morgui has won the battle, Athera’s men are fleeing, women and children are missing, friends have fallen or are missing, Ragnar is dead and it seems as if the Lion Vrie and The Almighty has turned their backs on the people of Athera.

Who will lead? Who is alive? Where to go? Who to trust? Does Ot have the answers? Where is The Almighty? What is Morgui up to?

This book had a good pace through out, the plot was good and fairly original, and of course Christopher Hopper created an epic and awesome world. It was so good that I felt as though Christopher Hopper wanted to show off his world in this book. There was a lot of travel and discovering of new things.

There was one downfall to the book. I’m sure I’m in the minority here but I don’t like romance. Whenever Luik and Annora were in the same room I would most likely stop and roll my eyes at all the romance. It was just to much romance.

Over all this was a great read that I will be re-reading when I get the chance.

The Lion Vrie, written by Christopher Hopper, is the second in the White Lion Chronicles. It is an allegorical christian fantasy fiction that contains many moral developments.
It takes place after the great battle which submitted most of Dionia to Morgui’s control. Luik is taken to Mount Dakka, a mountain fortress, to recover. After he has healed, he sets out to Ariel’s now barren ruins to search for the missing Dibor. There, he instead finds Anorra, and they return to Mt. Dakka. At that point, he organizes the inhabitants to fortify the city further to prevent Morgui’s destruction to continue. Luik receives a mysterious summons to the city of Ot, and he and Anorra embark on a quest to find the city, as well as the Knights of the Lion, the Lion Vrie, which may be Dionia’s only hope in defeating Morgui.
The book is written much better than the first. Although the book is a bit slow, there are some very interesting morals being introduced all throughout the story. The use of Dionian language is reduced quite nicely, eliminating much confusion. Morals discussed are friendship, loyalty, honesty, honor, and all the other frequent morals of a medieval society.

It took about 6 months, before I finally decided to read the sequel of the Rise of the Dibor. Not that the first book was not written well, but all that heavy atmosphere, constant rain, advance of darkness, Adriel destruction, etc. at the end of the first book just exhausted me. But there was one thing that still intrigued me and it was what happened with the dwarf, Fane and the body of king Ragnar.

I was not disappointed when I finished the The Lion Vrie. The chapter of the land of Ot under the Tree of life was magnificent. It worths reading the entire book just for that chapter. Again as in the first book most of the main characters was destroyed at the end. But this time I know that I will read the third book. I just sense that somehow life and good will prevail.

What still bothers me, is that the author introduced a prophecy that God will send his son to die and save the taken. Long before this, there are some of the taken which just made a decision to ask for God's mercy and return on the side of living. This somehow contradicts the prophecy. I look for a resolution of that contradiction in the third book.

I read the Kindle edition. ASIN: B007D44X0E

Once again, Christopher Hopper did absolutely amazing work (through God) in creating this book and diving deeper into Dionia.

In this second book, we get to see the secret world of the dwarves, Ot. While this is happening, we also get MANY twists and surprises and great things.

There’s little to no fighting until late in the book, which personally I like. I love all the in between stuff where it’s not slow because they’re finding a bunch of things out, having fun, or going on adventures (even if they aren’t fun adventures and end up leading to some unpleasant things). It’s world building without world building if that makes sense.

Hopper builds on so much in this book, as well as building the characters. We see more of the Dibor and get to know them better, falling in love with them and getting hurt.

It took me a month to read this, but that’s because I have already read it and have been dreading the final book. Also, there’s a good amount of description that doesn’t necessarily need to be there that sort of makes the story drag ever so slightly.

But other than that, this is my favorite “Christian” series and book two is such a well done book.

This is a unique book that took a while to draw me in but had an epic ending.

Hopper seemed to have much potential for a good style. There were frequent well-constructed phrases and clever metaphors, but the story was bogged down with many, many typographical errors and frequent confusing sentences.

Plot-wise, there were pros and cons. As I stated before, it took me a long time to get drawn into the book; it was nearly the end before I was truly enjoying it. In many ways the plot or characters were annoyingly predictable, but there were a few unique, dramatic moments, moods, and ideas. The ending was unexpected and very intense. I enjoyed this book more than its prequel and I eagerly await the series' final book, Athera's Dawn.

What an action filled fantasy book! There are so many twists and adventures that you will not want to put this book down!

This is the second book in The White Lion Chronicles and is the follow up to “Rise of the Dibor.” It is a Christian fantasy book, which you don’t get a change to read very often. This particular book is written in an easy to read language.

The story follows Luik as he is injured and travels to reach his loved ones. He encounters many mishaps and interesting characters.

This book was fun to read and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

I was given this book by christianreviewofbooks.com to review.

This, the second installment in The White Lion Chronicles, was indeed darker and more intense than The Rise of the Dibor had been. It is so difficult to see the characters you have come to love endure so much loss and pain. And I have come to feel their pain. To see the world you love plunged into despair and separated from God's continual presence must be heart-wrenching.

I think that is what I love (and hate) about the book. It doesn't ignore the fact that life is full of pain and suffering. And through it all, the author built the characters so believably well. This has been a great sequel and I look forward to reading the final installment...Athera's Dawn.

This book leaves much to desire for the final installment. Everything is left in shambles. Can the realm survive the brutal attacks from all corners? Who will be at the frontlines to see the dawn of a new age, where (hopefully) evil will be defeated and righteousness will prevail! Well written, thought provoking, and a definite page turner: this is a must read for all fantasy lovers.

The land of Dionia has been shattered by evil's overwhelming tide. As the few survivors struggle to regroup and survive, fear looms. The battle left them without a king. How can these broken people heal?

From the underground world of Ot to the summit of Mt. Dakka, the fight for freedom rages on, for Morgui will not rest until every son of Ad has been utterly destroyed.

Who is the High King's son? Where are the mysterious Tribes of Ot? Do the people of Dionia have enough faith and strength left to combat their enemies... even if their enemies are themselves?

This book, while I have enjoyed other books just as much but in different ways, was a very good kind of unique. The originality of the book is amazing, and I really felt like I was there, the world building skills were fantastic! Mr Hopper made me believe it was really happening; it was no longer just a story. All in all, this is an awesome book, one problem though. Before you start to read it you need to have the next book ready to read, because Christopher Hopper leaves you with quite some cliffhanger.

What if all you knew was lost? What if Destruction surrounded you? How would you rebuild? And where would you turn for help? Would you believe in God? The Lion Vrie is a wonderful, classic book with love, hate, war, and dilemma. This novel by esteemed author Christopher Hopper contains many twists and turns in the plot. I thoroughly enjoyed these books by Christopher Hopper and cannot wait to read more by him!

As Luik discovers his true history, his friends Anorra, Brax, and the rest of the Dibor stay together as they find the secret behind the Lion Vrie…
The Lion Vrie is better than the first! It is more interesting, and more capturful(not sure that’s a word) I highly recommend it, and if any of you are lovers of fantasy, then you’ll probably like this.

As book two of the White Lion Chronicles the Lion Vrie loses none of the pace the first pace sets. As Luik and his friends encounter new enemies they must learn how to discern between friend and foe. A great book and I recommend it to anyone who loves a great tale with even greater depth.

This was a pretty good book. It taught a lot on friendship and courage and humility and I enjoyed that. It was a little slow in the beginning, but once you got past that it picked up speed and ended well. I can't wait to read the third book Athera's Dawn and find out what happens.
