I'm so confused about this book. Initially, it starts off pretty strong. Chase and Rachel have a history together. It ends tragically with the death of her father, the circumstances of his death being a mystery. It's now four years later. Rachel has a new job, a new life. Then Chase comes back into town on his treasure hunting boat, chasing the same sunken treasure that her dad died trying to find.

Once the details were laid out and I thought I understood the plot, I started really getting in to

I was asked to read Severed Threads and give and honest review. The title is currently on Kindle Unlimited and with and Audible upgrade of $1.99, I jumped on it.

This is the first novel I’ve read/listened to by Kayline McFarren, and I just have to say is WOW! There was so much action at every turn I was on the edge of my seat! When I thought the story was going to go one way, NOPE, it redirected and completely went another. It was brilliantly fantastic! I loved everything about it; I am moving on

A Fast-Moving, Plot-Twisting, Rollicking Gallop of a Romance

If you love lightning-fast action and high stakes romantic suspense, with an Indiana Jones-style treasure hunt adding an extra splash of adventure to the mix, Severed Threads by Kaylin McFarren was written just for you. Set in the friendly oceanside town of San Palo, California, it’s the story of down-on-his-luck treasure hunter Chase Cohen and grant foundation executive Rachel Lyons—who represents Chase’s last chance for funding a hunt

I won this book in a goodreads giveaway! :)

The whole time I was reading Severed Threads I was like ahhh 4 stars, no 5 stars, no 4 stars, no 5 stars! lol I HAD to give it 5 stars based soley on the fact that it was action packed, interesting, and unpredictable! I never knew what was going to happen next, which is awesome and hard to find sometimes.

There were only a couple (minor) things I didn't get and that was why would he not tell her about his kid, lol. I get why she didn't hear about his ki

GAB I received a free paperback edition of this novel from Goodreads, Kaylin McFarren, and Creative Edge Publishing in exchange for an honest review. Thank you all, for sharing your hard work with me!

This was an interesting, fast read, and an enticing variation of California fiction, involving as it does maritime aspects of SOCA living. The relationships across the cast of characters was entertaining - just when you think you have it figured out you are proved wrong. At times the action becomes

"A romantic adventure set in the exciting world of salvage diving, treasure hunters, and modern-day pirates, Severed Threads is an action-packed, crowd-pleasing page-turner.

Four years ago, Rachel Lyons’ father died in a mysterious diving accident, ending her love affair with the sea, as well as her love for her current flame, Chase Cohen, who was there when Sam Lyons died. Chase disappeared from Rachel’s life shortly thereafter, with no explanation. Since then, she has buried herself in a new co

Chase and Rachel reunite after years of separation. They must set aside their differences in order to find a sunken Chinese treasure and rescue her brother. The twist and turns kept me captivated and kept the pages turning. The description of the ocean's depths put me right beside the characters as they made their way into an underwater adventure.

About the author:

(From her website):
Linda Yoshida, aka Kaylin McFarren, is a rare bird indeed. Not a migratory sort, she prefers to hug the West Coast and keep family within visiting range. Although she has virtually been around the world, she was born in California, relocated with her family to Washington, and nested with her husband in Oregon. In addition to playing an active role in his business endeavors, she has been involved in all aspects of their three daughters' lives - taxi duties, che

Severed Threads is a fast-paced, action-packed thriller with big storylines and many subplots. If you enjoy contemporary adventures with a little romance thrown in for good measure, Severed Threads could be the next novel to add to your to-read list.

The story begins with the death of Sam Lyons, a veteran salvage diver (think treasure hunter) under questionable circumstances. A routine reconnaissance excursion results in his unforeseen death which leaves lingering questions of fault and blame. Wa

The story opens during a diving salvage operation with experienced divers and treasure hunters Sam Lyons and Chase Cohen. Though they’re working on the Griffith wreckage, Sam believes the site also contains the wreckage of none other than the Wanli II—the Ming Dynasty Emperor’s lost dragon ship containing an ancient figure head, a fierce dragon in gold leaf and preserved in resin for all posterity—the gift Mai Le intended for her lover.

Unexpectedly, however, things turn bad for Sam while he’s u

I really enjoyed this book; to me it has a little bit of everything for all readers. It has lies, deceit, romance, treasure hunting, fighting, and of course some good ole lovin hehe. I also have to say the author does an amazing job at capturing the reader’s attention from the very beginning and keeps it, which is very difficult, but she does it with ease by giving little hints into the mysteries of the novel, and not giving too much away at one time like I have experienced before with many writ ...more

"Somewhere on board the ship is the gift Mai Le intended for her lover. According to ancient scrolls handed down by my grandfather, it was hidden in a handcrafted box disguised as a Chinese betrothal chest. After a thorough examination of the wood fibers and inscribed markings, there is no doubt in my mind. The lid your father found belongs to this box. The heart of the drago

Who doesn't like a good mystery with a little sexual tension thrown in? That's why I picked up this book and I wasn't disappointed at all. This was a well written story of who done it and the main protagonists are a couple with a past who are thrown together out of necessity and in the process of solving the mystery they are drawn together once again.

Rachel Lyons is the daughter of a treasure hunter. Her father died doing what he loved most, searching for the ever elusive Heart of the Dragon. Sh

Slip beneath the waves into Kaylin McFarren’s perilous new romance, ‘Severed Threads.’

In the classic dive novel, one of the main characters is after shipwrecks – or more accurately, sunken treasure: a very specific treasure. And treasure is most definitely at the heart of this one, but for far more reasons than money – this hunt is both close to the heart and quite possibly deadly.

At the start, we’re assured that handsome Chase Cohen

This book is about a woman trying to save her family and learning to forgive her father that died searching for his dream. In present day she is faced with terror and villains that have caused many twists and turns in her journey along with a former love that was there when her dad died.

The cover art grabbed at me from the second I saw it. It was very fitting for throughout the story. This story has everything that a person would want. There is lots of action, pirates, kidnappings and love stori

“Severed Threads” by new author Kaylin McFarren definitely lives up to its “Romantic Suspense” genre listing. At two hundred and eighty-three pages it’s a fairly quick read and I found it to be interesting and well-written. I would also hazard a guess and say that McFarren holds some level of scuba certification as her underwater scenes are portrayed both accurately and knowledgeably.

As I began reading my copy of “Severed Threads” I was happy to find that the first chapter was an adventuresome “

If you haven’t already heard me say it before, I love, love suspense books that keep me guessing – and in the new book “Severed Threads” by author Kaylin McFarren, you will find just that!

The first chapter of the book gives you a very good back-story so you learn more about what shaped the meat of the book. I always appreciate when an author does this because it helps get me more interested from the beginning.

The book revolves around Rachel Lyons who lost her father 4 years previous in a diving

Severed Threads by Kaylin McFarren is the story of Rachel Lyons - her dead father and Chase Cohen. The book opens with Rachel and Chase each trying to deal with the blame they feel for Rachel's father's death. McFarren details the events leading to Sam's death and then fast forwards you to 4 years later. There we find Rachel and Chase back in each other's company, but under very different circumstances. Needless to say there is a lot of water under the bridge between the two of them. Rachel abso ...more
