Sunshine's Kiss

Rate this book
[Siren Classic Erotic Alternative Romance, M/M, shape-shifters, sex in shifted form, HEA] Sam Bishop is on the run, and the safest place he can think of to hide is the ranch where he grew up. He just doesn't expect Jesse McCaffrey, the ranch owner, to be waiting for his return. The man is both angry that Sam left him five years ago and determined to make sure that Sam never leaves again. But the danger that Sam is fleeing is right on his tail, and Jesse will have to reveal his darkest secret in order to save Sam. Getting Sam to stay after that will take more determination than Jesse might have. A little luck wouldn't hurt either. And if that doesn't work, Jesse will just claim Sam as his Lycan mate and keep him anyway. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

1.5 - I have only read one other book by this author so I really didn't know what to expect from this book. From reading the blurb, I knew that this was a story about cowboys, Lycans and claiming their mates. The beginning of story was good and pretty typical with what I expected even with a past boyfriend showing up and would have been an enjoyable read if the the story had stayed in that direction. But then the story just goes completely in all different directions having faes popping in and out, vampires, kings, princes, mpreg and much more just thrown in that it just became a mess.

I liked this one quite a bit. The blurb doesn't give much away but this story consists of just about everything from abusive past relationships, mates, shifters, vamps, fae, mpreg and even royalty. I was actually pleasantly shocked when I saw hints of the mpreg because I honestly did not expect it.

The story is a bit too sweet sometimes and also a bit back and forth because Sam easily caves to Jesse but then fears and rejects him again and again. It got a bit annoying but was kind of cute the way Jesse acted like a kicked puppy sometimes.

The way the book headed was kind of all over the place because it had so many different elements in the story. Some were a bit obvious while others where kind of like being blind-sided they just suddenly popped up. But I felt like the whole Desmond thing was a bit of a stretch. I was confused by some of the things in the story (like Jesse's dad. Can you say psycho?) and do have questions about it all.

But, I actually like the way this story is heading and the variety of different things the series will have. I'm really looking forward to reading about the rest of the brothers and to see if any of them will get pregnant and what Sam ends up popping out of his belly. I did really enjoy this one because it provided me with a few mindless hours of amusement.

A great beginning to a new series, this story about Sam and Jesse was captivating. It was full of surprises, a lot more 'paranormal' that I had expected, and is not just a very promising first volume, but an adventure of the best kind. The love between Sam and Jesse may be a while in coming, but I loved the angst and suspense on the way, not to mention the explosive heat between them once they do get together.

Sam is on the run from Desmond, his abusive ex, who left as many internal scars as external bruises. Sam is stubbornly determined to find his feet again and hopes returning to the ranch he grew up on will give him the breather he needs. When the home he thought was safe turns out anything but, and the man he trusted claims him without even asking, he thinks his worst nightmare has come true. From then on, nothing is as it seems, surprise follows surprise, and it was hard to catch my breath.

Jesse is pretty desperate, thinking the mate he has lost dos not want hm. But honestly? He behaves like a caveman, or, well, like a domineering werewolf, and expects Sam to just fall in line? He doesn’t even consider Sam’s feelings and by the time he figures it out it is almost too late. A macho who has no clue about relationships, he tends to take over first, then maybe ask questions later. Once he does figure out how it works, though, he turns into a brilliant partner and exactly the support Sam needs to make it through the many trials and tribulations still ahead of them.

If you’re looking for a fun, lightly different and captivating paranormal adventure, if you like hot men and are not opposed to machos turning into loving partners, you will probably enjoy this book as much as I did.

A great start to a new series but there is a bit too much going on. It's a mix between Blaechleah bros, Dark Court and Wolf Creek Pack. I definitely recommend this to those who like relatively angst free paranormal stories. This is a stormy Glenn story I do like.

OH, Sam's Dad was an oblivious too late the hero moron! 4.5 stars

2012 Review:

Why? Why, why, why?
Things were going pretty well. A longer book than they usually are, detailed enough (even if it was odd that interactions with other people remained practically nil), and then… Damn it!

Le sigh. Aside from that… well it was probably one of the more solid books by the author, despite a bunch of things that were contradictory or kind of stupid.
The book also had identity issues, although that might have been on purpose. It started out with cowboys, then turned shifters, then we got smacked with the and fey and suddenly things were just a great big amalgam. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing and this volume certainly set up a series.
I just wish the secondary characters had been less papery. None of them had personality or interacted with the protagonists beyond whatever function they needed to fulfil at the time. Well, and the villains were loud. Oh well.

I kind of appreciate that here the usual elements are rearranged again. The various myths have been shuffled so now and there’s no such thing as destined mates but chosen ones, at which point all the usual trimmings are activated.

So yeah. Mixed feelings. Not a bad book but not a really good one either, if for different reasons than usual. :3
Truth be told, I also got a little bored at some point, but that might just be my mood today.

Well then,
this book almost got me giving it 3 stars
then it started explaining where the "baby/ies" are gonna come from
But wait
seeing as this is some "paranormal" shifter hoodoo
why not make these babies "pups" instead
Yeah

or nah
I chose nah

Sunshine’s Kiss is quintessential Stormy Glenn and I loved it! This story is packed full of hot cowboys and paranormal activity, and if you love both of those genre’s along with M/M than this story is for you.

Sam grew up on the McCaffrey’s Ranch as the son of the housekeeper, but he was raised with alongside the five McCaffrey brothers because their mom died giving birth to the youngest boy. What Sam doesn’t know until he comes home after running five years ago is that all the McCaffreys are Lycan or werewolves. If that isn’t enough to shock Sam, the fact that he is Jesse, the oldest McCaffrey’s mate, might just be enough to do him in.

Five years ago, Jesse finally stood up to his cruel father and inherited the ranch and thought it was time to go claim his mate. The only problem with that scenario was that his mate had left the ranch and never looked back. Jesse’s father had always kept the pack small and kept the boys isolated from all other packs, therefore Jesse doesn’t know a whole lot about the paranormal world beyond the Montana Ranch on which he was raised. Little does Jesse know how much Sam’s return and mating will change his world!

Stormy Glenn does a great job establishing the McCaffrey world with this first book in her new series. I know that werewolves, fairies, and pregnant men aren’t reality and are kinda silly, but Ms. Glenn’s stories are like a nice warm blanket on a cold night that you just want to cuddle into. There’s not a whole lot of angst and no real life situations to deal with, this book is pure fantasy and hot sex and even hotter cowboys! If you like all the things listed above, you’ll love this book!

WAY too much going on!

I loved the beginning and I didn't even mind the , but I couldn't handle everything else .

There was too much. Then it just ended. Ummm...

I did like Jesse and Sam, but I thought Jesse should have talked to him before everything happened. Also, Jesse was a lousy Alpha, in my opinion.

I will read the next book only because I want answers, thought I won't be rushing for it.

This was a really good start to a series. I loved how possessive, not obsessive, Jesse was with Sam. The characters were fun and the plot interesting. I enjoyed the whole of the book and am awaiting the second:)

Haha, so I don't quite know what to say about this book. I did like it a fair bit. I read shifter books because of how ridiculous they often are. This certainly fit that bill for me. Everything was super complicated and convoluted. I like that kind of thing, but I know that plenty of people wouldn't. So I feel like warning people that if you want a story where everything is believable, then this book may not be for you. There were several times where I rolled my eyes and laughed. However everything still intrigued me.

Here is a synopsis for those who might want to see if this is too outlandish for them:

I probably missed tonnes of stuff in that synopsis but you probably get the jist. I still liked it in the same way some people like soap operas. It is like crack to me. I can't get enough of these wacky shifter books. *sigh*

As stated previously by other reviewers, there is A LOT going on in this book. It was an interesting world with some unique tweaks. I loved the characters, and I am sad to see there havn't been any following stories from this world at least at this point. There is not much I can say without giving something away. It's a fun adventure and despite everything packed into it, I never felt lost.

warning: this wont be for everyone
: This one is another twizzler. In case your new to my reviews, that means lots of twists. The blurb does not do this one justice. It starts out as a great romance, Same is running from an abusive boyfriend and goes home where he thinks he will be safe. He runs right back into the arms of the first man he ever loved. Here comes the first twist, Jesse is a Lycan (think werewolf). Then as you expect, the boyfriend Sam is running from shows up. But here is the second twist. The ex is also Lycan (or is he). After a battle with Jesse, Desmond walks away a little too easily. Sam slowly finds out about the Lycans and how he has lived with them forever. Jesse has claimed him for a mate. Then about two thirds through thing really get wild. Sam gets very sick. New characters pop up (literally).More secrets are revealed about Sam and his family. When Sam’s sickness is revealed its really a shocker (trust me here don’t quit reading if this doesn’t sit right with you. Once you find out Sam’s family secret, it’s not so bad. Besides remember this is fantasy fiction.) Oh yes and then there is another twist! More secrets about the Lycan family. I really loved the nickname Sunshine Jesse gave Sam. One of my favorite things was the last line of the book. I just about died laughing!! So what is Desomond? Doe’s Sam and Jesses get together? What is Sam’s family secret? What is wrong with Sam? What is the Lycan family secret? I’m not telling you. GO get the book!!
I recommend this book to anyone that loves a great romance, Lycan or werewolves, soul-mate, Fae, lots of twist, lots of action, and hot Man-sex

I think this was a fantastic beginning to a new series. The blurb leaves out so much of what is really going on in this book. There really isn't much in the way of a cowboy/ranch story. This is more paranormal with lycans, fae royalty and mpreg.

After being badly beaten by his boyfriend, Sam runs back to the MaCaffrey ranch where he was raised and his mother still works as a housekeeper. Within minutes of being created by various MaCaffrey brothers, Jesse MaCaffrey is there to see his mate for the first time in five years and make sure that he never leaves again. Sam, who as remained a virgin, is soon swept up in Jesse's arms and in his bed. High handed Jesse, acting partially out of desperation, claims Sam as his mate without Sam's knowledge or consent. When the Desmond, the ex boyfriend, shows up trying to claim Sam as his own, a world that Sam never knew existed suddenly opens up. His whole world has suddenly turned on it's axis when he finds out that the family that he grew up with are a family of Lycans and that he is now mated to the Alpha.

This book is fun romp in a new series of paranormals and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for some fun, light reading.

This book was awesome. By the time i got to the third page, i was captivated. I loved this book because it had MPREG...i know...can you believe it...MPREG!! How awesome is that... and this story wasn't the typical werewolf or vampire story, but a DARK COURT LYCAN/FEY story...A.K.A. VAMPIRE LYCAN/FEY.*delighted squeal*

Gah..the blurb for this book dosen't give much away but thats what was cool. You get lots more surprises this way...i'd definitely recommend this book and i can't wait to read the others as well.

Another awesome thing was that i finished this book in only a couple hours within finding out about its existence on the very dame day.. c(:

Okay uhm where to start, all that comes to mind right now is just WOW! I felt like I was reading a Harlequin bodice riper with men. Also, the plot just seemed just so odd to me, and the author left so many plot strings just swinging in the breeze. I know this is a new series but good god some type of closure is needed.

I love alpha men, they are hot and sexy to a point but when you add a mate who is carried everywhere, and lap sitting and crying etc. I start the eye rolling. This is a new author for me, and I just didn't connect with her style of writing.

I didn't read any of the reviews before reading this, and went in blind. Really glad I did. Getting the first hint of the was actually kind of fun. If I had known before reading the book it would have been more groan worthy. There were other things that I didn't know were coming, that I enjoyed more because I wasn't aware of before hand.

Overall, I thought it was cute.

The book was interesting enough until around halfway through and then things just got weird. I can appreciate a good paranormal book and I've read several that combine different elements of fantasy and shifters together to with great success. That being said, this just doesn't fall in that category; maybe if the blending had come about in another way I would feel differently but all this gave me was a huge case of WTF?!

Very enjoyable start to the series. Sam, in trouble, decide it's finally time to go home. it's been five years buy he needs safety. Jesse has waited 5 years from Sam to come home, where he belonged. Now that he's back, Jesse isn't going to let him leave again. But first he has to tell Sam about his heritage, which could be a huge deal breaker.

コンテンポラリーのカウボーイ物かと思ったら、シフターでメイト物だった。
その上FaeとVampも出てきて、パラノーマル勢ぞろい。
もう、ここまで予想を裏切ってくれると逆に楽しい。
