When Bella Beaver is born, Grandma Beaver gives her a special gift, a blessing stone. Each year Bella receives a new blessing stone, and each stone guides Bella through the difficult situations she faces as she grows up. But can the last blessing stone help Bella face the biggest challenge of her life?
Beautiful book I read to by daughterd they loved it. Very nicely illustrated. The book folliws Bella from a baby till she is still a young girl bear. The Grandmothers love is awesome as she teaches Bella about kindness, truthfulnesd, dedication and so on. Very nice way to teach kuds how important all these blessings the grandmother are important and great to have. And passing these gifts on.
I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, it was quite good and dealt with its subject matter in an admirable way that would be relatable to by children. But on the other hand, I had understood this book to be a "picture book" and on this score, it failed miserably. Don't get me wrong, the pictures were excellent; it was the text I had trouble with: there was so much of it! I've never seen a "picture book" with this much text before. Even as a read-aloud-to-a-kid book, I don't think it'd be that great, since I would think a child's interest would wander from the illustrations before the reader finished with any given page's text.
A beautiful story of a grandmother's bond with her granddaughter and the blessing stones she gives her every year. A nourishing story in case of loss experienced for a grandchild. Also serves as a wonderful inspiration for starting meaningful traditions.
