A harrowing and beautiful glimpse into the lives of soldiers deployed in combat. I had the pleasure of going to a speaking engagement held by Stacy Pearsall. I got to speak with her afterwards and I own this book with a personal message and autograph inside. Stacy is so very talented.

Combat photojournalism at its best, Stacy Pearsall also includes insightful narrative of the "aloneness" of serving behind the camera. Her quick eye for the often overlooked details tell the story of war on a deeply personal level. The level of photojournalistic and photographic talent demonstrated by the young, enlisted shooters serving in all four branches - both active and reserve - continues to blow me away. They can easily go to toe-to-toe with the best coming out of the top tier j-schools. ...more
