OK I don't know who put this on my blog and I must find out & kiss some*** it was GREAT. I love it when I can read a book in a day, and hate it when I get so involved that I forget to make hi-lite and bookmarks. I did get a few quotes but it was so face paced that I was in my bubble and could not get out!Love one of the blurbs: VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED is a modern day "Sex and the City" meets "Broadcast News." SO true.

This story is centered around Charlotte Thomas (Charley) who grew up on Long Island with Rori Sweeney her best friend. While Rori and Charley are young they once pretended to be reporter, the rest is history. Present day Rori is in Miami and a successful anchor/reporter, while Charley is in LA and was just fired for the first time in her life. Once Rori hears this she tells Charley that "The Velvet Ax" aka Johnathan Lefton is looking for a new station manager. So what does Charley do? gets on the red eye and meets Jonathan, accepts the job and starts the most stressful first week of her life. Leaving behind Oz her friend/lover/boyfriend in LA, she is sad, but Oz shows up for the weekend and rescues Rori who was arrested, gets a lot of hot sex and then is threatened by the crazy cop (Jimmy McManus).

I can say it was filled with bog swoon for Oz, lots of spice, bitches (Miranda) and tons of never heard before stories of the newsroom. I am not looking at my KTLA morning news the same again!!

A great "go buy it NOW" read

Breaking News – This Book is a Must-Read!

News director Charley Thomas is a tough cookie who knows how to roll with the punches, so she doesn’t panic when she’s fired from her job in LA. She picks up stakes and her adorable pup, Princess, and relocates to Miami, where she gets a job at a station run by a mega-jerk called “The Velvet Ax.”

Charley has to hit the ground running at WCAR when she’s faced with everything from plane crashes to cat fights and boinking amongst the anchors. I love a book that immerses me in the protagonist’s job, and Viewer Discretion Advised plopped me right down in the entertainingly fast-paced, cutthroat world of local news. I could certainly understand why Charley needed to keep a bottle of vodka in the mini-fridge in her office. Such a high-stress gig would drive anyone to drink! Could Charley take her news team to the top without sacrificing her principles and her personal life? That was the big question in Viewer Discretion Advised, and I enjoyed reading about the journey of this woman who had just as much heart as she did ambition.

Although the book focused a lot on Charley’s career, the author still managed to squeeze in some sizzling scenes with the heroine and her LA friend-with-benefits, the super sexy and so-rich-he-doesn’t-have-to-work Oz (Described as being blond-haired and blue-eyed with a 6’4 Adonis body, I kept picturing the character as Chris Hemsworth, which was a very good thing.) But the parameters of the Oz/Charley relationship weren’t well-defined and they were living on opposite coasts, so I wondered if they were just a fling or if things would work out for them in the end. I won’t say what happens between them, but I liked that the author gave Charley a couple of other viable (and unusual) love interest options. The characterizations of all the men in the book were really well done and elicited strong reactions from me (some of ‘em I wanted to hug, some of ‘em I wanted to smack.)

I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent with Charley and the WCAR gang and I would recommend Viewer Discretion Advised to anyone who likes fiction with a strong, sassy female lead. I can’t wait to see what author Cindy Roesel does for an encore.

The news has never been hotter or sexier than in Miami!

After losing her job in LA, Charlene "Charley" Thomas has found a new job and a new city. Working as the news director for WCAR in Miami, FL. She is working for the tough as nails Jonathon Lefton or better known as The Velvet Ax who is known for going after the ratings at any cost.

Charley barely has her feet on the ground in Miami and she is already throwing strippers out of the news room, dealing with big personalities major stories, anchor scandals, new guys, old boyfriends, more strippers, stalkers um even a possible murder! And that's just her first few weeks!

Cindy Roesel has written a saucy fun novel that is non-stop enjoyment. I loved the news room backdrop of the story, it's something very different than most books. The story moves so quickly--the way I would think a news room world work. I was totally hooked with all the action in the story. I really appreciated how Roesel seemed to anticipate some of the reader questions and made sure her characters asked them.

I would have enjoyed more time being spent on the relationship between Charley and Oz. I found the whole friends with benefits believable, but the quick leap to the relationship being more didn't really convince me.

If you are looking for a fun fast paced Chick Lit book then look no further.

SO YOU WANT A GLAMOUR JOB ... Cindy Roesel tells it like it is in "Viewer Discretion Advised." She gives us a sizzling insider's view of the local TV news biz with great characters, a marvelous sense of place, and plenty of romance and intrigue. Go behind the scenes and see what it's like on both sides of the camera. You'll never look at your local news programs the same way. And her heroine will have you humming "I get knocked down, and I get up again ...."

Wednesday, June 20, 2012Can You Remember? Blank Slate Kate Review and Giveaway
Heather graciously donated a copy of this book for Beach Read.
Synopsis:

Kate suddenly wakes up in a stranger's bed with no memory of who she is. The only memories she has is of being seventeen years old. The apartment she wakes up in is Jake is a bartender. He decides to take her under his wing and help her figure out who she is. He also asks for help from his friend Hannah. What secrets will Kate uncover? Will she uncover her past? Kate explores Toronto with Jake in hopes of reclaiming her memory. One night she gets a call from the police station saying that they might have answers to who she is. Kate has to meet with her actual family. Kate struggles with the people in her life or how to reconcile her past. What will Kate end up deciding for her future?

My Thoughts:
This is the second book I have read about Amnesia. I wondered would she retain all of her memories eventually? Would she totally change from her past? This subject of amnesia is well researched and well written. I had to say that I found myself rooting for what Kate would choose her past or her future. A person with amnesia has a difficult path to follow because they are often left trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together of their life. I can't personally imagine what that might be like.

What would you do if you lost everything? Would you keep the same life? Would you choose a whole new life? This is another great read by Heather Wardell and she has decided to share with three lucky readers an e-copy of the book. The giveaway is open to everyone and will run from June 20-30. The giveaway will close that evening of the 30th.

Sunday, June 10, 2012Alexandrea Weis Explores Her Artisitic Side in To My Senses

This novel also appeared in the Stonecrest Library International Chick Lit Month Program. Thank you to Alexandrea Weis for her donation.

Synopsis:

We first meet Nicole Beauvoir (Nicci) as a nursing student getting prepared to go into the medical field. She is also surrounded by her loving if not dysfunctional family her dad, her Uncle Lance, Aunt Hattie, and Cousin Colleen. Her father owns the family business of Beauvoir Scrap but has often had skirmishes with his enemy Sammy Fallon. What does Sammy have planned next? Nicci At this party she meets David who has somewhat of a sinister past. As Nicci pursues her relationship with David questions continue to mount about who he is? Will their relationship survive?

My Thoughts:

This novel is the first in the Nicole Beauvoir series. I thought that this novel is a great start to the series. You are fully introduced to the family and their humorous side. The author is great at telling a story. The plot is great! One aspect of her novels I have greatly appreciated is; the plotting of her stories. There is more to the Nicole Beauvoir series and the end is not really the end.

David encourages Nicci throughout the book to pursue her passions. For me my passions are writing, reading, and cooking. What else would be something that you would want to explore? Do you feel that David is right to ask Nicci to explore her artistic side?

Ratings:

4/5

My Thoughts:

I loved this novel! This novel is definitely worth reading. A great debut for Cindy Roesel! I can’t wait to read her next one. I can only imagine that her next novel will be even better!

What particularly stood out to me is the plot. I felt the story line is very appropriate considering the economic situation in the country. Story begins with Charley looking for work. The setting a news room is different than in many other novels that I have read. I felt the conflicts between characters are written well. I loved how the author incorporated news stories into the plot and how it related to Charley’s job as a News Director.

Charley Thompson is a news director that gets fired from her job in LA. She immediately accepts an offer to work for "The Velvet Ax" in Miami. She rolls with the punches and doesn't let anything or anyone get in her way. I was fascinated to learn the in and outs of working at a news station. The book was fast paced, sexy, and fun to read.

Welcome to the world of broadcast news where anything and everything goes and Viewer Discretion (is) Advised!

When three time Emmy award winning news producer Charley Thomas is fired from the LA news station where she had worked at for the past three and a half years, she doesn't sweat the small stuff ... within two days she's offered the challenging position of news director at Miami's WCAR news station. She's up for learning from the best in the business, station manager Jonathan Lefton aka "The Velvet Ax," known for his innovative and ruthless approach towards getting the news out first to the viewers and achieving first in ratings no matter what the cost. With a station full of catty and cutthroat personalities, a ruthless SOB of a boss, an alcoholic best friend, a casual/intense long distance relationship, and a crazy cop stalking her, can life be any more challenging for Charley?

Viewer Discretion Advised is an intense, exhilarating and fascinating behind the scenes insiders view into the broadcast news media industry. Written in the third person narrative, the author transports the reader into the intriguing world of broadcast media and masterfully captures the essence of the inner workings of the newsroom. This fast paced story immediately peaked my interest, and the high octane action, twist and turns, and intense drama captivated my full attention. Rich in detail and vivid descriptions, Author Cindy Roesel has used her professional experience as an Emmy Award-Winning reporter, anchor, producer to weave a sizzling insider's view of the broadcast news media.

The author has created a large cast of characters who are complex and intriguing people, whose individual personalities made this story a very entertaining read. I loved Charley's character, she is a strong ambitious lady who knows the media business, and I think her various actions were dictated by what she had to do to maintain her position while trying to stay true to her beliefs. I really enjoyed the casual-yet-intense long distance relationship she had with Oz, can you say sizzling? I loved the contradiction in their feelings/actions within their relationship, I think it was an intriguing relationship that kept my interest. I liked the supporting cast of characters at WCAR, the author does a really good job of providing the reader with varying types of characters within the broadcast industry, I think their interactions and dialogues made the story that much more an entertaining, powerful and compelling read. I really enjoyed the drama and suspense of Charley's cop stalker, Officer "Gorgeous" Jim McManus.

I think the author provided a nice mixture of an insider view into the broadcast media industry, romance and suspense. This entertaining story has whet my appetite for more, I want more Charley and Oz, can a sequel be in the works?

Viewers Discretion Advised is a must read for news junkies that have always been curious about the behind the scenes inner workings of the broadcast media industry. This fascinating story will change the way you look at the news media! Kudos to author Cindy Roesel on a fabulous first novel, I look forward to reading more of your books!

In Cindy Roesel's Viewer Discretion Advised, a news director makes a splashy debut in Miami, where high drama and action fills her life.

After losing her job at a TV station in Los Angeles, Charley Thomas takes a job in Miami hoping to add some spice to her life and to learn from the best in the industry. The best, who happens to be her new boss Jonathon Lefton. With his high demands and the always over-the-top on- and off-air talent, it does not take long before Charley feels the heat.

When one a nude photo scandal breaks out surrounding one of the TV anchors, it hits the fan. A frenzy of coverage and sensationalism ensues to ensure their station hits No. 1 in the ratings, while hoping to snag a few Emmys in the process.

With my background in print journalism, I found Charley's chaotic life relatable. Though print and broadcast differ, our lives often revolve around chasing ambulances and fires with hopes of landing the best local coverage and making a name for ourselves... Oh, and reporting the news along the way.

But even if I did not have my background in journalism, aspects of Charley's life our easy to understand -- the pressure to take a job in today's market, the need to do well at it, the challenge of balancing a personal and professional life. It is all there.

However, Charley's life seems a lot more exciting than anything I was ever part of in journalism. Not only does she spend her professional life uncovering police corruption and plane crashes in the Everglades, but her personal life has a lot of drama.

She has a maybe boyfriend who she loves, but won't say it, because he doesn't either. Only, he is a trust-fund baby who spends his days surfing and loving life (a little different from any men I've dated). Though they say their relationship is casual, it goes beyond that, though neither seems willing of taking their relationship to a deeper level, which adds another layer of intrigue.

Oz, the trust fund guy, is pretty adorable. Like a true gentleman, he tries to treat Charley nice, gives her support and manages to stay super sexy at the time. He is a great balance to her high-strung lifestyle.

The cast of characters in and around the newsroom and in Charley's life, combined with the high action, fast-paced writing, makes Viewer Discretion Advised a fun and entertaining read, I would recommend.

When Emmy Award winning news producer Charley Thomas is laid off from her station in Los Angeles, she is quickly scooped up by WCAR in Miami. WCAR is ran by Jonathan "The Velvet Ax" Lefton, infamous for his ruthless methods and "ratings at any cost" mentality. Anxious for a steady paycheck and a chance to win another Emmy and excited to be in the same city as her best friend from childhood, Charley and her precious dog Princess leave Los Angeles for a new beginning.

It is obvious that the author is familiar with what goes on behind the scenes in the news industry. The descriptions and detail were extremely vivid and I felt like I was right there in the newsroom and in the field with the anchors, reporters, photographers etc. The story was extremely fast moving and never dragged. I also loved all of the secondary characters. They were all very distinctive and distinguishable. These were the things I liked best about this book.

If you enjoy a fast-paced, chick lit book jam packed with action, intrigue and gossip, you will definitely enjoy this book. I, however, tend to enjoy books that are more character driven and I just couldn't connect with Charley. For most of the book, I was trying to determine if the reader was supposed to like her because some of her actions were, quite frankly, mean spirited. While she often questioned her boss's ruthless directions, she ultimately followed them without any visible remorse or conscience. While I understand that business is business, it would have been nice to see some internal conflict.

Also, while it is possible I missed it, I didn't see any mention of the character's age. I assumed she couldn't be too young since she was already so advanced in her career and there was a brief mention of the 1970s. I guessed she was at least in her mid-30s, but I really had no idea. Finally, her relationship with Oz was a bit too "easy" for me. I thought he was a casual sex buddy but the relationship between the two of them was anything but casual. I would have enjoyed more build up to the romance.

In sum, a very action packed, entertaining read that I would have enjoyed more had I felt a deeper connection to the main character.

When Charlene (Charley) gets fired from her job and moves to Miami to work as a news director at a local television station, she’s up for the challenge. She soon realizes that her boss, Jonathan Lefton, will go to any extreme to get good ratings – no matter what. After nude pictures are found of a female coworker, that’s just the beginning of her problems. After meeting a very dirty cop who pulls her over, her life is turned upside down even more so! Risking ratings for her show, will Charley risk her life to expose a crime or will she save a relationship with the one she’s sleeping with?

“Viewer Discretion Advised” was a quick read that was filled with TV drama, giving us a clear view of what it’d be like working in newscaster business! Charley, Oz, the dirty cop, John, and Jonathan all played wonderful characters that kept the reader hanging.

I liked how Cindy’s writing was fast and quick, and there was action on each page. She did a great job of defining characters, giving them have their own personality. Though, I had a hard time defining between John and Jonathan (Lefton). While their names weren’t the same and they had different personas, I would’ve made their names less similar. I wasn’t really taken with Charley’s character, nor did I believe the way felt about her job or her friends, or especially her relationship with Oz. As for the book seeming real, I believe it — news is everywhere! There were also quite a few random sentences that just popped up out of nowhere and I had to reread the sentence (sometimes the paragraph) over again that didn’t make sense.

**POSSIBLE ENDING SPOILER BELOW**

Overall, I think that Cindy Roesel has nailed it by writing a book that gives us a reality into the life of what it’s like to be in the news industry. There were parts that were funny, which gave off a lighthearted feel to the reader. I give her a lot of credit for keeping me interested to see what Charley does, though would’ve liked to know the details about her job at the end and what’s said between her, Jonathan, and/or the other characters.

I give this book 3 1/2 out of 5 stars!

In "Viewer Discretion Advised," Charley moves to Miami to become the news director of a news station that she really wants to see succeed. This book has a lot going on for it. It's a fairly light read with some really interesting characters (I really liked the characters but I wish that we got to learn a little bit more about them but more about that later). There's a good bit of romance and even a little bit of a mystery. This book is great for when you want a light but interesting read.

I really liked Charley's character. She's smart and she is just trying to stay afloat in a new job where her best friend, who is also a news anchor for another station, has just gotten another DUI and is in danger of losing her job. Charley is trying to balance her love life and her work life, something that so many of us can probably identify with.

There are a lot of characters in the book where I wish we would have known more about the characters. Jimmy to me was an especially confusing character. I don't want to give too much away. He factors very heavily into one of the main arcs of the story and into the major conclusion but we don't know much about him except for what he supposedly did. Why is he interested in Charley? Why does he do what he did? Why does he think he can get away with it again with Lexi? How is he still on the police force? I think I would have cared a little bit more about what happened if I could have understood more about what he was about. I would have almost liked to see the Jimmy arc be more of the focus of the book so we could have learned more about him.

The writing in the book is pretty good. Roesel is quick-witted and sometimes funny in the book. For the most part, the writing moved the story along nicely but there were some parts where there was more telling than showing and other places where the writing could be a little slimmed down.

Overall, this was a fun book. I really liked the look at what it's like to work in a newsroom. I always thought that would be such a cool, high paced job! I could see this be a very good beach read come summer!

Charley Thomas is moving to Miami to take the news director job at WCAR, after being let go from her previous position. Everybody tells her she's crazy for wanting to work with Jonathan Lefton, AKA "The Velvet Axe."

As it turns out, Jonathan is far from the top of her worries. In between handling anchor hissy fits, technical difficulties, and a scandal involving one of her least favorite people, Charley is also being pursued by a cop with a questionable past. Soon her personal and professional lives are becoming one and the same, with Charley left trying to sort it all out.

As you can tell by the several weeks it took me to finish this book, I didn't really find it a page turner. There were a lot of different events going on all at once, and the story moved very fast.

Charley is a single thirty-something, a little less than thin, who lives with her dog. She has a longstanding "thing" with the laid back Oz...a thing that seems to be mostly about sex. Charley was OK as first, but as the book progressed I started to find her immature and a little irritating. She made some bad decisions. Readers were inexplicably introduced to the random thoughts that flew through her brain, including but not limited to the need to redecorate her office. I appreciated her work ethic, but just didn't find her particularly deep as a character.

As I said, the book had so many things going on that it seemed one crisis was barely over when another one popped up. In other words, to me the entire book was one big string of kind of unrelated events...except for the fact that they all involved Charley. I think for me, what the book was missing was a sense of cohesiveness. I felt there was no central plot or conflict.

The end of the book was wrapped up nicely, but was a little too sudden for me. I would have liked a little more exposition on what happened to Charley after the events that occurred.

Thanks so much to Cindy Roesel for providing me with a copy of her book to review.

Cindy Roesel delivers an insider's look into the fast paced world of television news in her debut novel, Viewer Discretion Advised.

At the start of the book, her main character, Charlene "Charley" Thomas, has just moved cross country to take a news director job at a Miami TV station. She has her work cut out for her, with a budget minded boss, a ratings crunch, and a cast of anchors and reporters who constantly drag their personal lives to work. The best scenes in the book show Charlene doing her job and sticking up for herself. The modern workplace needs more women like her.

The newsroom scenes showed the heroine at her finest, most challenged, and most resourceful. At one point news team needs to cover a plane crash in the Everglades. This is a huge event, one that offers both action-based and emotional story lines. The crash could have easily stretched over more chapters in a really compelling way. I found myself wanting more of the workplace storyline, which is a credit to the author--dropping the reader into someone's workday isn't usually the easiest way to grab reader's attention. Roesel pulls this off very well. It's clear she knows the TV news business, the grind behind the glamour.

Because this is chick lit, Charley has a complicated relationship with her LA-based friend with benefits turned boyfriend. Honestly, I thought (from start to finish) that Charley could have done a heck of a lot better than Oz, whose main allure is hotness/sexual stamina. Charley seems less herself in his company. I found myself wondering, Does an assertive, highly successful businesswoman really need to make a habit of having quickies in restrooms? Oz does, however, in all his surfer dude, trustafarian glory, fit the beach read feel of the book, and I won't spoil the ending by saying whether Charley keeps him around or not.

Viewer Discretion Advised is a fun, light poolside read, one you'd be happy to tuck into your beach bag.

Many thanks to Cindy Roesel for providing an advance review copy.

Cindy Roesel is currently on tour with CLP Blog Tours and Viewer Discretion Advised. This might be a strange reading taste – but I absolutely love books that talk about TV shows, journalism, broadcasting, etc. Just an odd little niche, but I cannot pass up books with those topics being mentioned in the plot. This novel didn’t disappoint on that end – a lot of juicy stories being covered, a behind the scenes peek at the hustle and bustle of a newsroom – and of course – gossip, romance and plenty of cocktails!

Charley Thomas doesn’t mind being fired from her job in LA – that just means she is officially in the biz now. Quickly seizing a Miami opportunity, Charley soon finds herself in the Sunshine State, finally in the same city as her bff, and working for one of the toughest men in the industry - Jonathan Lefton. Between catty news anchors, firing staff left and right, an alcoholic best friend and a stalker cop after her, Charley has enough going on in her life – but she has ratings and possible Emmys to think about!

This book was fast-paced and very interesting. Roesel is an Emmy Award-Winning anchor, reporter and producer, so you know what she is dishing out is based on the real thing. I find these types of books fascinating. I liked Charley’s character a lot, how she really wanted to stay true to herself and not buy into all the ratings hype – even though she did slip now and again! There were a few editing errors that kept popping up, and I’m not sure I quite understood Charley’s relationship with Oz – they are super casual yet he visits her in Miami from LA? Those were two things that stuck out to me, but overall I thought this was a fun chick lit read!

Laid off from her job in LA, Charley takes a job across the country in Miami, Florida – also home to her BFF. Her new boss is known for being ruthless in the industry but willingly takes on the task and hopes that she can keep him happy (and stay employed!).

We have clashes of personality in the newsroom, divas, and the ins and outs of a fast paced newsroom all meshed together in one heck of a book. Charley jumps in head first hoping for a paycheck, but may end up with more then she expected.

I was really impressed with Cindy’s debut novel Viewer Discretion Advised. At first I was on the fence on whether I would do the tour for this book – I haven’t had much luck with books based around television. Boy was I happy I gave this book a chance!

Charley is tough, she knows what she wants and goes for it. She doesn’t put up with crap from the newsroom divas or anyone else for that matter. She’s spunky, sexy and good at her job. I felt though for Charley, because her job could destroy her love life and is she willing to give up Oz for her job?

This book was action packed and held my attention from the first page right up until the last chapter. It was one of those books that I picked up and finished in an evening because I just couldn’t put it down!

Will I recommend this book? Most definitely! This is the perfect beach or pool side read for anyone who loves a good chick lit/contemporary romance. Will I read more by this author? Yes! I can’t wait to see what Cindy comes up with next!

I enjoyed this story a lot. I know nothing about working in a newsroom, and this novel really gives you the sense that you are there. The author obviously knows the ins and outs of news production and it's fun to follow along as the news broadcasts are produced. In fact, that was my favorite thing about this book - the fact that much of the story focuses on Charley's work. We're there with her while she's managing the news anchors and other staff with their various personalities, handling her sometimes inscrutable boss, and dealing with "spot news" as breaking events throw the newsroom into a swirl of organized chaos. Charley's character knows her stuff. She's good at her job, confident and sticks to her guns, even in the face of anchor tantrums and possible intervention from her take-no-prisoners boss.

There's also some romance mixed in, with a few options available for Charley to choose from, keeping the reader guessing as to who she'll end up with in the end. As some reviewers said, I would have liked to see a bit more of Bachelor X's personality. His hotness was obvious, and he was very sweet with Charley, but I wanted to see more of his personality come through. All in all, a fun and entertaining read for vacation or by the pool, or... by the fire while you pretend you're there in steamy Miami with Charley.

Whew! I need to catch my breath after reading this book. Viewer Discretion Advised is set in a television newsroom which I always imagine and assume is super crazy with deadlines and tons of activity everywhere. The author does a great job in capturing that feeling in this story. I found myself, not necessarily reading fast, but really feeling the craziness and stress that a newsroom would have. Cindy obviously knows what she is writing about.

This book really has it all - the newsroom stress, best friends, romance, murder, a potentially creepy guy who may or may not have committed murder and a stripper, er, I mean dancer. There is a lot going on in this story but that didn't make it complicated. The story-line was easy to follow but it was a hard book to put down. I found myself wanting to read 'just one more chapter'.

So, if you are looking for a fast paced, sometimes intense story with some quirky characters, you really will want to read Viewer Discretion Advised. It has it all!

Okay, so Charley's favorite candy is M&Ms and we find her eating them throughout the book. I love them too. And guess what? Cindy included a bag of M&Ms for me when she sent me her book!

How awesome is that?!

Viewer Discretion Advised is a fun romp through "In Your Face" TV news. Emmy winning producer, Cindy Roesel, takes you behind-the-scenes in the newsroom, introducing you to a cast of characters straight off your TV sets.

Roesel, one of the innovators in the "If it bleeds, it leads" style, dishes out an almost too true to be real story that you know came straight from the real events. A combination of sex, ego and corporate "win at all costs" mentality, this novel shoves you right into the heart of sweeps week.

With an Emmy already in her pocket, the main character Charley finds herself looking for a job. Miami, Florida, the hotbed of crime and passion comes calling. Find out whether she throws it all away to create the next big thing in news.

In her debut novel, Roesel delivers a fast-paced and fun escape. I can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve next.

Viewer Discretion Advised was a cute, quirky chick-lit story which I found quite enjoyable. The author has a background in television broadcasting, which you can definitely tell by the extent of knowledge she has on the subject. The descriptions throughout the book were quite vivid and precise, which made for a pretty interesting read.

I was a bit confused about the relationship Charley had with Oz. It seemed to be very casual, but at times I questioned that. I also found Charley a bit difficult to relate to. I was unsure about her intentions. Several times I thought she was sweet and different from her mean boss... but then she would do something mean herself, which made me second-guess her good nature.

Overall, this was a cute chick lit story which I think many will enjoy, especially if you have an interest in the TV broadcasting world.

I have to admit that when I began to read this book I was a little worried it would be strictly about working for a news station--which I know nothing about. My fears were quickly snuffed out when I got a few pages in. There was a romance where I cheered Charley on, a dirty cop who I just knew would be up to no good, and a boss who reminded me of plenty of bosses from my own past. Cindy Roesel is a talented, entertaining, and imaginative author. I loved this book and am crossing my fingers that she will come out with a sequel!

I rate this book a five out of five stars! A quick read that will grab your attention and make you secretly wish you were in the television station business. I cannot wait to read more of Cindy's books!

I want to work in a news room!

Well, sort of. From what I gathered by reading Viewer Discretion Advised, I'd be in for endless days jam-packed with action and adrenaline rushing all over the place. It sounds really exciting, although I fear I might crack under the pressure after a week or so. Luckily Charley Thomas is made of sturdier stuff than I am!

It was fascinating to be dropped into Charley's world (a world that I'm totally unfamiliar with) and to vicariously experience all the crises, triumphs and dangers that she did, not to mention the time spent with a wildly diverse cast of characters, including some very prima donna-ish "talents". For a fast-paced thrill ride, I definitely recommend picking up a copy!

Viewer Discretion Advised is an exciting fast-paced read that has loads of sex, drama, and work stress all in one.
Cindy did an outstanding job with this book. Her personal experience in the field of journalism helped make this story come to life for me. The drama of the naked pictures of Miranda to the crazed policeman adds layers of excitement as you read further into the story. Her emotions and the way she describes everything with such detail makes me wonder if on some level any of this actually happened. It is that believable! Great job on such an addicting read!

What a fast-paced and fun story with a heroine I just loved! Charley is wonderful -- smart, sexy, humorous and full of life. I wanted to just follow her around to see what she might do next! Loved the inside peek into the news industry, as well as some of the deeper issues the author addressed throughout the story. Cindy Roesel did a fabulous job with her debut novel. I hope we'll be able to look forward to another book from her soon!

highly entertaining! I worked in television for years and the detail Cindy pays to the industry is spot on. I finished this book in a few days. The characters she's created make you want to keep reading. The storylines keep you on your toes. You don't except them to go the way they do. I highly recommend this book to someone who's looking for an entertaining, light read.

A behind the scenes look at a news station in Miami, FL through the eyes of the news director, Charley. Charley is fired from her position in L.A. and decides to move to Miami, close to a friend and under a boss that is very well known in the industry, it seems like the perfect idea.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Viewer Discretion Advised." It was a fun, fast read. It was like watching a few episodes of the new HBO series "The Newsroom." This book could serve as a reference for the show. The book encompasses a fast-paced drama with many amusing scenes that I found myself chuckling especially with the various news cast characters like Miranda. I highly recommend it.
