The twin-engine Vickers Wellington was one of the outstanding RAF bomber aircraft of the Second World War, as well as a capable maritime patrol aircraft and submarine hunter with Coastal Command. Centrepiece of this manual is Wellington Mk Ia, N2980, ‘R’ for Robert, one of only two surviving examples of the Wellington in the world and restored to display condition at the Brooklands Museum, Weybridge, Surrey. Iain Murray gives a fascinating insight into operating, flying and maintaining Barnes Wallis’s geodetic wonder with the help of many rarely seen photographs and technical illustrations.

Published in 2012, 'Vickers Wellington 1936 to 1953 (all marks and models)' is a novelty Haynes manual devoted to the famous British medium bomber aircraft of WW2. As is usual, the book gives a historical summary followed by a nicely detailed walkaround of an aircraft under restoration. This is all supported by a superb selection of well captioned photos and other illustrations. The walkaround detail concentrates on the example at Brooklands, since it is not just a historic airframe with a superb operational pedigree, it also allows for some great detail shots of the dismembered airframe in order to illustrate specific constructional details. A well thought out snapshot of an iconic British aircraft.

An outstanding book ! Novelty Haynes manual ? I don't know what the previous reviewer was babbling about !This book is a really good technical over view of the Wellington bomber....
