I didn't read the book, Kelly did. Here's how that went...

Me: Are you crying?
Her: Yes.
Me: Are you okay? What's wrong?
Her: It's a book I'm reading.
Me: What's it called?
Her: Dirty Money.
Me: Is that the book you're holding? You're only a couple of pages in.
Her: Yes, I know. (She then proceeded to tell me the book plot. As she is a terrible story teller, it was painful and confusing to hear. So I tuned her out, and gave her an occasional "uh huh, yes dear." We've been together for almost 27 rock-solid and happy years, so unless you-and-yours have been together for longer, don't even try criticizing me on that one).

(Next day)
Me: Are you crying again?
Her: Yes. It's the book.

(Next day)
Her: I finished the book.
Me: Why are you still crying?
Her: Now I have to wait until the next one in the series is published.

This young author continues to be a fresh, captivating voice in lesbian fiction. Dirty Money is a seamless follow to Dirty Sex. In this second installment of the Dirty trilogy, Cooper is separated from the twins and struggles through her own journey of crime and mobsters. It's hard to say much about the book without giving away some of the story, but you'll definitely like this book if you like intrigue, mystery or just good, crisp writing.

Ashley Bartlett has taken the old gritty detective-style of novel and given it the fresh, young perspective of her generation. The Dirty trilogy is a must read. I can't wait for the final installment to be released in August - "Dirty Power."
