Emma Ferdig has heard the term “life sucks, then you die”, but she never knew she was supposed to take it quite so literally.

It’s senior year. Emma should be looking forward to escaping her mundane small town, and going on to college—finally. Her biggest worries should be the fact that she’s feeling something more for her life-long best friend Finn, and how she’s going to

This is a really unique and interesting story to read. I loved the main character in this book, which is Emma Ferdig, who is smart, funny and sarcastic.
It is the night of the high school dance, when Emma gets dropped off by her friend, Mindy, at her house. When Emma goes to look out to their backyard, in search of her parents, she notices a person who is dressed VERY badly. Most people in her small town doesn't have a good sense in fashion. She notices that there is something wrong with this g

Jen Naumann's "The Day Zombies Ruined My Perfectly Boring Life" is an apocalyptic zombie novel about seventeen-year-old Emma and her band of oddballs and misfits. Together, they strive to uncover the truth behind a virus outbreak that claims the lives of loved ones and changes the landscape of the United States forever. The action propels the novel forward at light speed, but the characters slow down the reading fo

I'm a Zombie purist, I like my books filled with blood, guts, suspense and scares. However, if done right I don't mind stories that really challenge the genre. The Day Zombies Ruined My Perfectly Boring Life definitely does that and then some!! I wouldn't call this book a laugh riot Zombedy but it was fun with a capital F! I'd even call this book a welcome break from my standard fare.

Emma the main character was sassy, snarky and oh so adorable. She was an every girl and one I could honest

Seventeen-year-old Emma Ferdig has always considered her life to be painfully boring--not because she has the same mundane things to do with her friends every single weekend, but boring as in there is literally nothing for a teenage girl to do in her painfully small town that doesn't involve farm animals and the threat of law enforcement. But now she would do pretty much anything to go back to that boring life. Emma's life is turned upside down by the discovery of a real, live (better make that ...more

Let me start by acknowledging the previous reviews, and say I entirely understand why many felt this book was immature and a bit silly. I was looking for a filler zombie book, to pass the week faster, while waiting for the final book in other series to be released!

Maybe my expectations were low, maybe I was in the exact frame of mind required to enjoy this book. Regardless, I cannot stop smiling about how entertaining this book was. The plot is zombies, mixed with aliens. Aliens want to wipe out

Okay... Where to start?
Let's see, and I'll give and early warning now: there just might be some spoilers in this, but I'll be blocking them out, I just thought I'd throw that out there though :P
So anyway, this book?
I really did enjoy it. It had a great story to it. I loved the characters. And even though Emma was a complete chicken and wuss, and I'm sure other people have some "other" names for her, but even though she was all those things, she was funny. And when I say funny, I really mean Funn

We are not really into Zombies but this book has changed it all. We fell in love with the main character Emma from page one. She is one of funniest characters we’ve ever met in a book. She has some of the funniest one-liners we’ve have read in a long time. The Day Zombies Ruin My Perfectly Boring Life has it all. We found ourselves laughing out loud, falling in love, shocked, fearful for what would happen next, and even shedding a tear. Each character is so well developed and brings their own pe ...more

The ending!! When is the next book out? Is there another book coming out? Please let the answer be yes.
This is an action-packed and entertaining zombie comedy. I loved it. Emma had me laughing throughout, and I thought the relationship between her and Finn was natural and endearing. The fade to black scene was excruciating - reminded me of Edward and Bella in Breaking Dawn. I couldn't put this down and am sorry to have to say goodbye to Em and Finn. Hopefully this isn't the end.

i read this author,s first book, "What I've Done, and once again...., she delivered! Growing up in a small-town myself this book had so many links to my past I was immediately hooked. Once I started this book I could not put it down! Emma, the main character, had such spunk and such attitude, I couldn't wait to see what she would do or what she would say next!

This book was not one of my favorites. The characters weren't well developed so I had almost no connection with them. It ended in a cliffhanger - which I hate. I would only recommend this book if you have nothing better to read.

Great humor and suspence. Not your typical zombie story. I couldn't put it down. Hope someone turns it into a movie!!

This was such a fun book! Jen really created some quirky and fun characters to take you on an adventure into a world where zombies take over and teens take charge!! Super read. Great job Jen!

I have posted another review stating that this is not my normal 'genre.' But I returned to this author and I was NOT disappointed! Very well written and enjoyable book!

This book started out interesting and had me completely hooked through the middle. It had well written characters and the storyline about two best friends who realize at the end of the world that they’re in love with one another was what kept me hanging on every page.

I loved Emma; she was just so honest and funny. Her relationship with Finn was sweet and natural and I loved watching the two of them realize their feelings for one another. I also liked watching Emma banter with Cash and all their

I won this book in a giveaway and I have been dying to read it so I was glad to be able to dive into it finally.
I liked how this was told in the point of view of a teenager and it wasn't all just a happy go lucky adventure. The humor within the story between Cash and Emma I loved it, when a zombie story has a humor though death is through out the book it makes it a better read to me.

It all starts when Emma sees her first zombie in the woods she rushes to her best friend's house to tell him what

This book is just plain silly. I enjoyed it, but by the end the characters were starting to rub me the wrong way. What was initially funny and amusing, became annoying and jarring. Emma was funny and by the end she did step up and do something brave, but most of the time she was whining about walking, cowering in the corner, throwing herself into Finn's arms, mocking Cash, or making sarcastic, unhelpful comments. I didn't completely hate her, because she was kind of funny, but I don't want to re ...more

It all starts when Emma sees her first zombie in the woods she rushes to her best friend's house to tell him what she has seen. From that point on it seems that Emma, Finn, Cash, his girlfriend and their aunt need to leave town as soon as they can, because of the zombies.
As we progress in the story we see what Emma and her friends go through as they travel up north where they are suppose to be safe. We learn that there is something weird about this apocalypse and food and water should not be con

Actual rating: 1.5 stars. I hate to give one star ratings, but this book torpedoed itself with a random amnesia subplot. Up until that point, it was your standard zombie apocalypse story. Emma's character was a great mix of snark and self-involvement. It was refreshing in a way. But Emma (view spoiler) was just stupid and served no purpose. The (view spoiler) virus was actually an interesting take on zom ...more

Omg, talk about a horribly sad and unresolved ending, can't believe I was sucked into another book with such an ending ugh!

And what happened to Linda, Emma's dad and Finn's real Mom and why did the clone Elizabeth let them go? AND how come Marley turned but Finn didn't? They both ate something and if she's about the same age as Chase she can't be that old, just too many loose ends dang it

And one last thing Emma was a very hilarious character! Hence the two stars

I have no idea how this book has such a high rating. It is terrible. The humor is very juvenile, it is riddled with grammatical and word choice errors (way too much thesaurus use apparently) and it is completely senseless. On top of that the book has over 300 pages on my nook. When you get to page 200 or so the book abruptly ends and then the book repeats from chapter 10. Very annoying and hopefully a formatting issue rather than an attempt to just include filler to bump the page count.

I won this book from a GoodReads giveaway and really enjoyed it. It instantly sparked my attention and I was hooked. I had to keep reading to know what was going to happen next. It reminded me a lot of the movie, Zombieland, so if you enjoyed that movie you would probably enjoy this book. I plan on reading other books by this author.

I have to say I chose this book because of the title. I thought it was hilarious. The book did not disappoint. I love the whole new reason why Zombies are rising. I've never seen it done this way. I found myself laughing my ass off at some of the things Emma would say or do. This book was def not boring. I was so happy to learn the sequel is already out. I'm going to be reading it this weekend.

This book was so much fun to read! I enjoyed every minute. After I finished I thought, this could be a great movie. ( Think Zombieland, and the recent Warm Bodies. Absolutely! )
There was a perfect blend of humor, horror, drama, love, and action. Did I mention the humor?
I honestly think this was Jenn Naumann's best book yet!

This book started off great and I found myself laughing out loud. Then I found myself getting board and I wanted to quit reading it, but I'm so glad I didn't. It really did get good and I really liked all the characters. I even found myself shedding a tear at the end. I hope the next one comes out soon. I can't wait to see what happens with Emma and Finn.

I really enjoyed the hilariously cheeky characters in this book. I loved the first half of the book. I was ready to give this book 4 stars. The second half of the book lost me. It got too crazy and I started to see it being less funny. I found myself skimming some pages.

I enjoyed the premise and the tone of this book but the writing and dialogue were just awful. Hated the ending and I haven't decided whether it's worth enduring another entire book of just to find out what happens.
