Denise Grover Swank is such an awesome author. I love every single thing she has written. Including this book. I wish I hadn't waited so long between when I read the first book in this series. I had a little bit of trouble getting back up to speed. Maybe eventually I will re-read the first one. But "There" did a pretty good job of filling in the blanks in my brain during the first chapter or two. In the first book Evan had a device that enabled him to travel to an alternate dimension where he ...more

Totally different than, but as intriguing and brilliantly imagined as HERE. The inside of this book is as gorgeous as the cover, with characters and a world in turmoil, and the question of how far love can actually take you smack dab in the middle. There's nothing else out there in YA like these two books, so if you're looking for something different and wonderful, I highly recommend these.

There are only two books in this story and I really think the second book was better. I am not sure if it was because I understood how the portal worked and who the characters were by book two - but this second book was just great. I read through it pretty quick because I was so worried for Julia and what was happening. Was the secret government going to kill Julia? Would Julia make it back to her world? Would Julia be able to save Even before it is too late? It was cleverly written and the ...more

This is book 2 in the ‘On the Otherside’ series, and kicks off where book 1 left off.
Julia, Evan and Reece are on the run, minus the black box, and with little idea of what to do.

Julia keeps experiencing the other Julia’s memories,

and they rescue a kidnapped girl called Jo to try and help them get where they’re going.
Can Julia ever go home? With the other Julia take her over? And which boy will she pick?

I really enjoyed the first book in the

(Spoiler Alert: If you haven't read the first book in the series, there will be some spoilers here because it's impossible to talk about the plot without giving some things away.)

I liked the first book quite a bit, but this one was even better. Although I'm not generally a fan of love triangles, this one was written in such an original way that it actually made sense. The Julia of this world is in love with Evan, but as the memories of the Julia of the other world continue to invade her

There
On the Other Side #2

When I read Here, the first book in the series, I fell in love – with the characters and the storyline, it was a book I never wanted to end. When I started reading There I was hesitant, surely it couldn’t be as good but I’m so glad I was proven wrong – it was so much better.

The epilogue made the book for me. You don’t often get an ending that finishes it off nicely but still leaves you wanting so much more. This series could easily go on forever and

I really liked Here, so i was looking forward to reading There.
Unfortunately, i was really disappointed.
There was really slow. Through the majority of it, i was really really bored.

I found some of the storyline quite predictable, and i didn't like where it was going, either.

The characters annoyed me in this one, which only made it more dull.

Overall, the story was dull, and i really wish i finished at book one.

This book picks up right where “Here” left off. Thankfully you don’t feel like you missed tons of time or thing happening where the author needs to help you catch up.
I was in suspense from the start of the book and hanging on the edge of my seat throughout.
I wished I could read faster to find out what happened in the end. But the ride was a wild rollercoaster of emotions, suspense being the main one.
This book has no predictability, it is amazingly put together without giving away what would

There, the follow-up to Here, is a fantastic continuation of the "On the Otherside" series! It basically picks up where Here left off and turns into an action packed journey across what remains of the former USA. What truly makes it interesting is learning that, in spite of the radiation risk, people still live in the nuclear ravaged world outside of the sterile and military guarded "other" Springfield. There's civilization out there that the UR would rather you do not know about. That's where ...more

Julia is stuck in an alternate universe and on the run from the UR. Her and her two boyfriends Reece, and Evan go on a wild ride and pick up the super awesome kickass Jo.
What I loved:
This book was amazingly good. Swank is one of heck of a master world builder and her characters are dynamic and full of life. Jo was an amazing addition to the cast and in my mind made this book what it was. Without all of the twists and turns that her character takes thing could have gotten dull. Julia is faced

What a ride! This was such an incredible journey for me. Denise has opened my eyes to a new genre of writing. Truly captivated by this story of hope, love, desperation, and survival. Here was the first book I read by Denise and although it was out of my reading comfort zone, I dove into it and spent an entire night on edge of compustion to finish. I was broken at the end knowing what a horrible and tragic wait it would be for the rest of the story to be released but my goodness this woman ...more

Wonderfully written!!!! There, was a great addition to the On the Otherside Series. This young adult book, is great for readers of any age.

The story continues to follow Julia while she is still on the otherside, trying to escape the craziness and get back home. While trying to get away Julia, Reece, and Evan face many dangers such as the radiation and scavengers who don't care about anyone else other than themselves. As the three of them make their trip in search of Reece's mom, Evan gets a

There did not disappoint. Just like Here, I could not put There down! There were so many wonderful twists, turns, and growth of each character throughout the book. I love these characters so much. Denise Grover Swank has a way of writing characters that make them feel real and when I finished this book I felt a void. I was not ready for Julie, Evan, Reece, and Jo’s stories to be over. I want to know how each of them deal with all the changes brought from the book ending. I loved the infinite ...more

Kept me guessing all the way to the end!

While I enjoyed the first book in the series, the second was even better. The plot was in no way perdictible and kept me guessing all the way to the very last page. Just when I thought I had something or someone figured out, BOOM, Denise threw a curve ball! This is a great pick for a young adult book choice and in my late teens or early twenties, it would have definitely been one of my top favorite reads. Even now in my mid thirties, I still enjoyed it and

This is such a great series! I feel like the author could have definitely put both Here and There together as one book and sold it for a higher price but either way, that doesn’t affect the quality of the book at all. It was a fantastic book and although it was a sequel to Here, it was very new and unexpected. I was pleasantly surprised for most of the book and I’m not one who is easily surprised by book or movie plots. The story was very creative and I hated when the book ended. I would love to ...more

Sad for the end

Such a great ending even though it seems like the beginning. I did not see this ending coming and it felt so good to know I was kept on my toes the whole read. This a definite read for any YA who likes sci-fi and the unknown. I was sad to see the story end wishing I had more to look forward to. I would love to have a follow-up to know how things turned out for Evan, Reece, and Jo.

I was so excited to read this after reading Here. I couldn't put it down. There was so much packed into this book. Love, laughter, heartbreak, and danger. I loved these characters who do everything they can to save each other and never give up. I was afraid I wouldn't like the ending. A great story can be ruined by the ending. But I kind of loved the ending to this book even though I hate that it had to end. This series will definitely be one I re-read to visit the characters again.

After reading the first book in this series, I was eager to read this second installment. I liked reading the experiences the characters went through. The experiences that Julia, Evan and Reece encountered kept me turning the pages as fast as I could read in order to find out what happened next. I was a little thrown off by the ending, but enjoyed the book nonetheless. I enjoy Denise Grover Swank's thoughtful writing.

Loved this book! Here and There, were so easily captivating I was interested from the very beginning this book till the very end. There were so many moments I didn’t know what was going to happen and how the book would play out and every time was better then I expected. I would highly recommend both books!

Here or There?!

I loved this continuation of the story from Here. I needed to figure out how they all dealt with their issues at the end of Here. There answers some questions, but the epilogue was my favorite. Some questions are still left unanswered, because the the epilogue. But I really enjoyed this series. It was outside my normal books that I read.

This book was way different than the last. I'm also not sure how I feel about the ending, but I'm glad I did read it.

Julia, the main character, is interesting... I'm not sure I'd say she's the best but she is struggling with a lot and she's only 17 so I'll cut her some slack. I think the addition of Jo was great. She was fiesty and resourceful.

A glimpse into a world that suffered a nuclear war. What an adventurous sequel to the first book HERE. I absolutely loved it. How far they all come and what they went through. I loved all the characters. Such a great story line, just want to series to continue.

Love, Love this intriguing series

Denise Grover Swank once again tells us an intriguing tale that flows well in the storytelling. I waited for the second book in this series on pins and needles. With most of her books, its too hard to put down!

Great ending

I enjoyed these two books. I was on my toes the entire time reading it. Although, the ending was a little confusing, but maybe it’s because I’m blonde haha anyway, another great denise book!

While there was more action and adventure in this sequel, I found Julia rather annoying with the constant crying. Didn't help that with all those AP classes she wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer either. Still it was a good read. I thought both endings were bittersweet.
