Not That Type of Guy is the sweet and sexy story of Aiden and Trace. Aiden is a CIA agent with a tough job. He keeps people at a distance, especially woman, thinking he really can't get into a serious relationship. After an unexpected sexual encounter with another man, Aiden has to face the reality of his feelings and what he's been hiding from himself. Aiden's character was written in a way that we were able to feel his conflicts and emotions. He had had it drilled into him his whole life that ...more

SUMMARY (50 words or less)

The first part of this book was stellar. I thought I was going love it. Then the second part happened. There were just two things that really bothered me. The story still remained interesting and held my attention until the end with a bit of eye rollin
2.5 stars. Appealing cover and blurb. This romance is between CIA assassin Aiden, who is fighting his attraction towards Trace, a young and honourable doctor. It's self-published and does contain some editing mistakes. At times the writing is a little flat and awkward, and the plot stretches your credibility. There is also a bad case of insta-love but the story is somewhat redeemed by the author's portrayal of Aiden's desperation, first with his admission of his sexuality, and later his need for ...more

Not bad at all.
The abduction, abuse and murder as the blurb mentioned, are not part of the main characters per se. It's as a background plot part of the undercover work. Some parts were sad, however it's a light read.

It didn't work for me.
it's basically a no plot - all sex type of book, with some spy story background.

Aiden Johnson is trying really hard. The CIA assassin walks the straight and narrow, doing his job, dating gorgeous women, being the man his dad would want him to be. He's never really done anything about the lingering thoughts he might have about other guys.

Until a fellow agent, on a mission with him, goes down on him as part of dodging the bad guys. That may have been taking their cover a bit far, but it did the job. And made Aiden think those thoughts again.

I was very excited about reading this book. The premise of the book has a lot of merit. Aiden is a CIA assassin who is struggling with his sexuality. Trace is a sweet, innocent, doctor who tempts Aiden. I had a really hard time connecting with the characters. I found I just didn't care. When I should have been upset Aiden and Trace were having problems, I just couldn't bring myself to be worried or upset about it. I also found parts of the plot a little difficult to believe. Things regarding Aid ...more

Meh m/m romance about a CIA assassin who's been in denial that he's gay until something happens on the job that makes him reevaluate things. The plot was over-the-top implausible and the relationship between the two MCs had me rolling my eyes.

My review is in spoiler tags because it hasn't been edited yet. It probable has too much negative stuff as that's what I tend to think to write down. If I'm enjoying myself, I don't want to stop reading!

I loved how attraction and self-realization tore Aiden apart so much so that he kept fighting that same attraction. Love and lust can make a strong man weak and human. Aiden had always fought his inner self and his attraction to males. He denied it. He was a mess.

The private desires he had weren't for real, just pent up lust. The need for release had him hot and bothered. No gayness at all, just desire making his dick hard and his balls full. Liar, liar.

Trace did not deny being gay. He didn't sh

I wanted this book to be good, but it was just really not. It was insta-love not insta-lust, and some of the things were just so over the top, reactions to each other, the way Aiden struggled with his sexuality, Trace rolling over after being mad about him not calling, how much he told him about his job, all of it. Then, the fact that the whole book takes place in something like 5 or 6 weeks where they both leave the country for 2 weeks at different times without contact. I rolled my eyes so man ...more

Aiden, a CIA assassin, finds himself struggling much more in his personal life than perhaps even in his profession. On the outside he seems to be the epitome of masculinity: big, buff, and beautiful (cough handsome). As a means of fostering these masculine ideals he seems to be rather disconnected from the rest of the world.

This inner conflict that arises when his masculinity is called into question or at least in his mind when he struggles with potentially being gay. Eventually he meets a love

I love a book where I can feel like I am the characters while reading. Not just one but all of them, good bad or ugly. Sara accomplishes that very well in all her books. I was not disappointed with this. It was above my expectations.. I could feel Aiden’s conflict of his emotions. I could feel his needs, his fears of having to come to the realization that he was gay. I ached with him. I cried for and with him. When he melt Trace, I felt his want his need his desires, his hunger, his confusion. I ...more

Not That Type of Guy starts off with our protagonist, Aiden, in the middle of a CIA operation, tailing a criminal. To avoid being detected, he slips into a bathroom stall with a male team member, Chuck, who ends up performing oral sex on him to throw off the mark. This encounter leads to Aiden reliving his past with his abusive fath
The emotional display of the MC's in this book was a bit much for me throughout the book. I'm sure men do cry but it just felt a bit out of place when presented in the story. It took me about halfway into the book to get interested in the story. Yeah yeah, sex sells and all that humbug and I'm sure the beginning of the story was meant as an attention grabber but for me it just kind of grated on my nerves a bit since reader's find out that Aiden is in denial and is so for a few chapters.

This was most probably closer to 3.5 stars for me. It was a nice story, pretty typical "my work gets in the way of love" plot line. Surprisingly, I didn't have any issues with the exchanging of "I love you"'s after only knowing each other for maybe two days but I can see how that might bug other people.

Overall, it was a good, short, fun read. No editing/grammar issues that I picked up on either so that was great :)
Romanticamente Fantasy

if you are not ok with M/M book this is not for you

Never read anything by this author. Stumbled into it through another author. This story was super intense and full of discovery. Aiden works for the government and thinks he has everything figured out in life until a mission starts to go south. Aiden discovers things about himself that he knew deep down but refused to accept. Grace is a doctor who was okay with who he was. Situations happened making both understand the other side. I really enjoy

Blog Post:
Aiden Johnson is an assassin for the CIA. Whilst Aiden is on a mission in London his partner ‘Chuck’ has to take evasive measures when Aiden is being followed, the only problem with that is the evasive measure Chuck takes is pulling him into the men’s toilet and gave him the best blowjob of his life! The only problem with that is Aiden isn’t gay but the thing is, he really likes it! He has to keep telling himself that he’s not gay!

Hmmm... I was expecting an "assassin" story... and I kinda got a "OMG I can't be gay, but he sucked my dick and I liked it" story... which is OK... BUT...

I must say that the scene with Trace in Rio was really the only one that really got to me... Maris? My heart was broken and at the same time I was ecstatic with joy... what a weird feeling! If the whole book had made me "feel" like that scene did... then this would have been a 5-star read... or MORE!!! :D

Don't get me wrong... I liked Trace and

“Not That Type of Guy” by Sara York is a heart-touching, adventurous, romantic look at the CIA operative Aiden who has the deep realization his sexuality has come into question. In his world and in his reality, this is surreal to him. When he meets Dr. Trace Williams he is instantly attracted and they begin a romance which is a roller-coaster of emotions and heart-centric questions of who he is and what will really make himself happy. Personally, I did not care whether this was a m/m romance or

I would rate at 3.5. The story line was ok and the text was fine, just sometimes the dialogue seemed a bit off for me.
The story is about the realisation by Aiden that he really is gay, despite having denied it all his life. His father's voice is a constant refrain early in the book and I would have liked to know more about his family now and how they would deal, but there is only passing reference to his mother.
Aiden's conflicts increase when he meets Trace, a doctor - first as an eye flirtation

Aiden Jackson broke my heart. He is tough as nails working for the CIA as an assassin, former Navy SEAL and fighting the fact that he is gay. God what would his father say? He was beat to within an inch of his life for masturbating to an NBA calendar (and not the one with the cheerleaders) by his dad and brothers. He can’t be gay. But then why did he like it so much when Chuck kissed him and gave him the best blow job of his life? Was it just the situation? That doesn’t explain his attraction to ...more
