This is the third book of the Spectrum Chronicles.

Continuing the story from the second book, Consuela and Wander are separated by a Diplomat from the Hegemony. Wander is taken and, along with other "scout monitors", trained at the Citadel. His mentor/friend Digs realizes his plans and requests to be taken along when Wander is rescued.

As with the first book in the series, 12 year old version of myself loved this book. Adult me is skeptical again.

I appreciate that the main characters were pulled apart and that the escalation of the plot doesn't feel forced. I didn't appreciate that since the books are so short, this one leaves off with little to no resolution.

The writing is sloppy and the plot breaks down a little. I'm not sure if I would like the characters without my 12-year old memories butting in.

A disclaimer: I did not read the first two books in the series, so I came in late in the game.

I really did not enjoy this book. There were quite a few grammatical errors, overuse of some adjectives (pet peeve of mine), and an overly dramatic storyline. This book does not make me want to read the first two.

I still don't like Consulia or Rick very much but the books good. Whats really annoying is the detailed lists of weapons and sceens that aren't very important. :P
Still, I really want to read the last book.
