Quick & Dirty: A hilarious look at the true lives of superheros.

Opening Sentence: I sat at the bar, stirring an amaretto and orange and waiting for the blond muscle head in the corner to look my way.

The Review:

In Temptress, there is a quirky, fun world where superheroes are the norm. A world where supers are still like everyday people that relax, have hobbies, get married, and subsequently trashed at the bachelor’s party. But if a superhero breaks the law,

They date, party and sometimes get in a little trouble that requires the assistance of the lovely Temptress. It was good! Short, so there were some places where the worldbuilding was lacking... and the logic, but I really liked it!

Why are there not more books like this?! Am I blind? Have I missed them all? As soon as I read the blurb I was sold. My two favorite things in one book - superheroes and romance - uh YES PLEASE!

Dodge had me at hello, I write superhero novels *sigh* and what a novel it is. I think my only grump about this book is that it's too short. I've come to realize I'm greedy with books, if I love it I want MORE MORE MORE MORE. Temptress is no exception. Jenny is a

My Kind of Action...

I was super excited when Lola Dodge contacted me and asked if I would like to review her recently published novella, Temptress. Her description of the book was something along the lines of, "It's a superhero book, but you don't have to love superheroes. It's geared towards lovers of Paranormal Romance." She had me at "superhero." I was the girl in the comic book store when I was a kid. I read X-Men and Superman (

I finished Temptress book one in Manhattan Ten series in one sitting, I love superhero stories, and this short story focuses on strong female super who is actually the strongest character in the novella. As a comic book fan I loved stepping into this comic type setting.

Temptress follows Jenny known in the superhero world as Temptress; she has the ability to take powers from other supers. She is a

Like some others out there, this book reminded me too of X-Men to some extent. I love those movies and reading a book that revolves around the very theme of a group of superheroes that have different powers and a perfect mix of romance made me like it all the more.
Among all the superheroes, Thinktank and Temptress are kind of the lead characters in this book. I liked their story, how the romance started and developed. Even though the author did not show any explicit r

Review: Manhattan Ten Series: Temptress by Lola Dodge Jenny Ray is a kick ass superhero with a sex appeal to kill for, but add her unique ability to take on the powers of others.....and she can be downright scary. When a collar for the local Vegas police takes her into the middle of the most infamous hero organization in the country, The Manhattan 10, things go very wrong when she takes the powers of their leader ThinkTank, and can't give them back. The other problem is that they seem to be extr ...more

I had never read about superheros before, certainly not sexy superheroes, so I was excited to pick up Temptress. Jenny Ray, aka Temptress, works for the police as a kind of bounty hunter. She tracks down superheroes who are under arrest, seduces them, steals their powers with a kiss, and brings them in for their trial. Her most recent job doesn’t go quite as planned. She finds her mark, takes his powers, but on her way out she runs into another superhero, Thinktank. The only way to get by is to ...more

I am a huge fan of Superhero movies like X-Men, The Avengers, Fantastic Four and was excited to find a Paranormal series with yummy Superheroes.

Temptress is a fun, quick read with a smidge of romance. While Temptress is trying to give ThinkTank his powers back by kissing him every time and having to spend time together until his powers are back they are slowly falling for each other. The action, nice build up to their romance worked well for me. There was not an actual l

I really enjoyed reading this story. It’s kind of like X-Men meets the Avengers. I found Temptress and Thinktank’s romance and adventures to be a fun, fast, action packed read.

Jenny does the occasional job for the police in bringing in super-villains or superheroes to face a court hearings and jail time. With one kiss she can remove any super power from any individual. She then has access to use it at any time. Thinktank can read minds as well as he can glance around a room and know every bit of
Short but fun story in the Manhattan Ten series, which is a group of 10 superheroes with different powers. This story focused on Thinktank, who is part of the Ten, and Temptress, real name Jenny Ray, who is a rogue super.

Temptress works freelance with the police department to bring in errant superheroes who have broken the law. I like her power, she is able to kiss another superhero and take their powers from them. She can restore their powers by kissing them again and doing a "transfer", but s

Jenny Ray (aka Temptress) has the ability to steal a superhero's powers with just a kiss. She freelances for the Vegas police, and is called if there are any supers acting out of line. On a mission at a club to detain Steel, a superhero with super strength, Jenny's cover is blown by a member of the group of superheros he belongs to.

Thinktank, the leader of M10 isn't easily fooled since his super power is all about the mind. He is able to read thoughts, see statistics/ratios at a glance, and sev

There is a lot more plot than the characters can carry in a short novel or long novella. This is a fun read but be prepared for some gaps. If this first published work is developed into a series we may get the details that are missing here. I hope so, because this is a delightful change up on the super hero trope. I see a lot of potential in Ms Dodge’s writing and look forward to reading more of her work. This is a very good book that could be great, so let’s see what she writes next.

This book really surprised me! It was really good, had a unique heroine, and an interesting hero. I liked the fact that it was a superhero romance, but somewhat on the clean side. It is a good alternative if you like the Bigtime series, and are not in the mood to re-read the series while waiting for the next installment. My only complaint was that it was entirely too short! I'll be grabbing the others in the series for certain!
