Dr. Jane Goodall is famous for her research with chimpanzees in Gombe Africa. We knew very little before her studies. At first the chimps were afraid of her, but she found a peak from which she could observe with her binoculars without startling them. Gradually the chimps started to be curious, and she got to know them and understand their complex society.

Jane learned a lot about chimpanzee behaviors and eating habits. She discovered that they are very similar to humans! They traveled in small groups or families, and were able to make complex, sturdy nests. They tore leaves off of branches to make sticks to catch termites for a snack. Until then, humans were considered the only species to make tools. Goodall also discovered that chimps eat meat and hunt in groups.

Not only do we learn about the chimpanzee world in this book, we also learn about the interesting life of Jane Goodall. Many of her field practices have changed the way scientists do research today. Both the text and photographs in this book are high quality. The text is written in narrative form, and makes the book easy to read. The reading level of this book is appropriate for about fourth or fifth grade and up.

This book it chalked full of wonderful facts and first hand stories and interactions between jane and her chimps. This book it sure to grab many childrens attention. The pictures within the book are beautiful and capture the perfect moment to really enhance what the text is explaining. "It is easy to feel depressed when you think about all the problems in the world When I think about all that humans have done to spoil our planet during the sixty-six years of my own life, I feel very sad--and ashamed of our own species. But I am full of hope, too...nature is amazingly forgiving--even when we humans have really spoiled a place that was once beautiful, it can regenerate if we give it a chance and perhaps some help. And animal species that are almost extinct can, if we work hard to protect them, start to multiply again."

This was full of information and fascinating stories about the chimps Jane Goodall has studied. Kiddo really enjoyed it. We did skip the parts about the chimpanzees going to war and killing other chimps because those were a bit upsetting for kiddo in the biography of Jane Goodall we read recently. It had a lot of information about how the chimps have been mistreated in captivity that made kiddo sad, but luckily it ended on a note of hope.

Jane Goodall’s account of her research in Tanzania, starting with a few sentences about her childhood love of animals, love the photos on each page, easy to read the double spaced text. I learned a lot about these animals and her research methods and style. Book stands up well being 20+ years old, would love to read an updated version with what she’s doing now.

This is a beautiful book written by Jane Goodall. It has photos from her time with the chimpanzees and tells about her life as a child, going to Gombe, observing the chimpanzees and her work now. For those people that love Jane Goodall and the work that she does, this book is a must!

I love this book! It has inspired me to do the same, be a scientist and write books about it. I love how I got to know the chimps like Jane Goodall did, and it was really cool cause I learned a lot.

The book I chose, The Chimpanzees I Love, is a fascinating autobiography. The author, Jane Goodall, does not go chronologically through her life; rather she tells interesting short stories of moments in her life, all of which have to do with chimps. Because her life is so fascinating, she does a great job of making the book an interesting one, not a book that I would have to force myself to read.
The Chimpanzees I Love is a book about Jane's life with the chimps. She begins with how she gets the opportunity. She describes how it was fate that she would end up studying animals. Jane dreamed that she would be able to go to Africa, to study the wildlife. "It all began when I was a small child, loving animals of all kinds." (Goodall, 8). Goodall's stories took me through her journey of learning how to be accepted, learning how to respect animals, learning that animals are not as weak as they seem, and that some humans underestimate what chimps are capable of doing. " I climbed into some of these nests and found that they were strong and comfortable."( Goodall, 12) Jane also talks about the Chimpanzee community, how they socialize, and how they eventually trusted Jane enough that they would come over to her dwelling. As I read through this book, it was evident that Goodall had compassion for these animals; she has a whole chapter dedicated to helping them. Her book has definitely made me want to help, because of its amazing facts and heartwarming stories. A five star recomendation, for sure!

The book Chimpanzees I love: Saving their world and Ours is a book by Jane Goodall that promises the reader the life of Jane Goodall throughout the years from childhood to adult. The book accomplishes its purpose because its a biography on how Jane became who she was in history and how she became the scientist she is today. Jane Goodall was a scientist ready to take a unexpected yet quick decision in her life that changed her future in her case for the better. This book follows an academic tone because of how it's descriptive in capturing the different elements of jane's observations in the the wildlife. The book is not a book someone could easily relate because not many of us can say they want to go live in the wildlife and live the chimpanzees, it takes courage. My favorite part about the book were the illustrations on the animals. I would change the fact on how the story was really boring the eyes of a high schooler like me. I would make it to fit the eyes of everyone and not just adults alike. The illustrations are definitely effective in enhancing the books image because it helped prove and show what she was talking about. I would not recommend this book because yes the illustrations were good but, it wasn't my style. The readers that would enjoy this are the future scientists and animal lovers.

I read this book because it is a biography about animals. I enjoy reading about animals and hearing Jane Goodall's story from her point of view gave me a new look on what she did and how hard it was, I had never realized how much time it took for her just to go to Africa not even including how long it took her to find somebody who would take a female scientist. Her story and discovery never stop amazing me, but reading this book just made me realized what an impact she really had on science and animals. I suggest this book to any animal lover and any one who wants to learn more about Jane Goodall.

Very interesting and lots of interesting reports on the research into chimpanzee behavior over the past many years. However, once she starts promoting her religion of evolution, then I have to part company with her. She reports that chimpanzees are very close to human beings in their physiology, so that humans can even receive blood transfusions from chimps. In that case, I believe that God had a reason for creating chimpanzees to be close in DNA and physiology to humans, not that they evolved that way.

Autobiographical photo essay about Jane Goodall’s work with the chimpanzees of the Gombe National Forest in Tanzania. It includes many beautiful full color photos and detailed information about chimpanzees in their natural habitat and also some information about chimps in captivity. I really enjoyed learning about chimps and seeing the large full color photos. I also like that the book included a full bibliography of Goodall’s other books.

This book aided in inspriring me to go on the path to become a biologist and helped fuel my passionate fire inside of me to work with animals. I read this in mid to late elementry school, and have not forgotton about it to this day. It is a quick and easy overview that gives a taste into the conservation/sustainability idea. But most of all, it warms your heart to see the impact one person can have and helps to shine light on a species not too unlike our own.

(Pair this with PB: Me, Jane) Jane Goodall's photo autobiography depicting her life with chimpanzees combines narrative, sidebar commentary, picture captions, quotations, and a treasury of science about the animals, their communities, and also the science processes she uses to lawn about them. The book includes information about use of chimpanzees in laboratories and zoos, as well as efforts to protect them in sanctuaries and in the wild.

I love Jane Goodall. She is an amazing woman (did you know that she hadn't even gone to college when she started her studies of chimps?!?!) who is an inspiration to us all and she studies chimps which are some of the most fascinating animals out there. This book summarizes her journey to and at Gombe and introduces us to the chimps there. A perfect introduction to Jane and chimps.

I picked this up when I saw Jane Goodall speak last week. It's a picture book and I still haven't gotten through it, which is a reflection of my life lately more so than the quality of the writing. She's awesome.
