I really like Al Ewing’s work on Mighty Avengers, so I really wanted to like Zombo. And I did like Donald Trump as president in the first story and the Fantastic Four spoof in the second story. But, overall, this just didn’t work for me. Maybe it’s because I read this without reading the first volume; maybe it’s because this volume was very light on Zombo and heavy on the supporting cast.

Henry Flint is a genius so nearly a 4. Feel sad saying the story is inaccessible to unfamiliar readers, dialogue is often flat with occasional moments of cheeky brilliance. Theres a great imagination in setting up stuff for Flint to draw, which he does with perfect use of space and form, working in a variety of mediums, and working the pages to full awesome. I'm very keen to see more of Flint's stuff.

Still as smart and crazy and ever, but it's incredible what (SPOILER) the loss of the series' protagonist for most of the book does to it! The heart amidst the mania did it a lot of good!
