As always Mike Dooley gets it and can write about it so I can get it, too. This book is terrific for those who are in the midst of careers and family. I am retired and have different goals and desires. The premise remains the same I just have to tweek it a bit. I was a bit disappointed by his continuous reference to his previous books. I like books that stand on their own and do not need to rely on the author's other works.

I was overjoyed when I won a copy of Mike Dooley's book, Leveraging the Universe.

Irregardless of how I came by it, the review is the same.

Stellar.

Humor, common sense, plain speaking are all hallmarks of Mike Dooley, this book is all three and more.

A long time follower of Totally Unique Thoughts, it was a joy to see one of my not so guilty pleasures in a longer format.

Would I recommend it to others? Yes.

Did I buy copies to share for the holiday? Yes.

Would I read/recommend him again? Without a dou

This is a really good source to understand what is it that we have to phisically do for our dreams to come to a reality, and what is it that we have to delegate to the Universe. After getting to explore this concepts, it its unevitable to identify our power as human beings. I also got a sense of relaxation and relief by knowing that I dont have to attach to any specific way our outcome that would lead to my dreams comming true, I can just do my part (the easy part) and leave the rest to the Univ ...more

This book was very eye-opening and inspiring. A great reminder of how easy it should be to get the things we want.

Listened to this one. Dooley doesn't "read" it but it sounds like him giving a live workshop. I like him much better when he's speaking rather than when I read his work. He's conversational and funny. If you've read/listened to his other books/interviews, there's not much new here, but it's a good reminder. I do like how he stresses that it's not your job to tell the Universe HOW to get things done. Just focus on the end result and let the Universe work it out. I've seen this in my own life - we ...more

I enjoyed this look, although I consider myself a bit too rational to embrace all his opinions. But what I did like is his optimism and belief that happiness is already in our hands, that we must learn to be happy now, depending on ourselves and not on externals.

I had to bully myself into finishing this, and i can't say i liked it. It was okay, more of the recent new age hubbub about positive thinking being the cure for what ails ya. Didn't really speak to me but i gave it an old college try.

A perspective changing read for me. I think that as humans we regularly see the negative manifest without the realisation we are creating this struggling reality. Mike manages to make it simply clear that we can do the same with the positive, we can create a positive reality and enjoy abundance in all areas of our lives. Thoughts really do become things as long as we start with small steps and do not stop! Start every single day and enjoy your new life. I am just loving visualising my life every ...more

ONE Sentence summary:
Author and speaker Mike Dooley presents inspirational step-by-step instructions on how to transform your life into the life you really want, using visualization techniques combined with taking action in the form of little baby steps every single day.

TWO Things I would have done differently:
This book reads like a speech which can be a little distracting when it comes to tone and being colloquial.
It also comes off a little repetitive at times which drives the point home.

I really enjoyed this book and the lessons which are the secrets to an abundant life to which we are all entitled.

In a nutshell - "TRUE HAPPINESS in NOT contingent upon things happening in your life. Happiness is a state of mind. Happiness is an appreciation for life itself, for yourself, for where you are, no matter where you are."

"You will be blessed with desires, and therefore challenges, forevermore. (Haven't you noticed? They're quite inseparable!) Know this and learn to enjoy the journey

More of the same and all you need to know really is that thoughts become things. I do believe this, but Dooley seems to encourage turning into some kind of robot - never feeling like crap, never having a bad day or a bad thought... That's not human life. I do think that life is easier (better) if you can be positive, and I do think it is possible to make things happen in life if you're focussed on what you want. But would that happen anyway? Do we need to believe in energy and the universe for t ...more

This was a quick fun read. The author believes that we are all part of God and God is all things. With the belief, that all of us (and everything else) are part of God, then we are able to create our reality. We do this wittingly or unwittingly because our thoughts become reality. These laws of attraction are the focus of this book. The author is one of the teachers from the book "The Secret". The author believes that if you remove the dogma from religion you are left with these thoughts he disc ...more

The book is good. Some interesting new ways to say things that many other books say. The three-star rating is because there are FAR too many references to two of his other works littered throughout the book with leading statements such as "I go much farther in this practice in my book (blah-blah), but for now, we'll just go with this". I'm paraphrasing but you get the point. If the author deems these works worthy to the reader as a prerequisite, the books should be mentioned in the forward or in ...more

This is not a book I would normally pick up. Having read it, it is still not the kind of book that I want to pick up. It was well written and the anecdotes were interesting enough it just isn't a book for me. My biggest problem with it was the heavy repetition of the phrases and themes and "what to do's". I made a book exchange with my mother wherein she would read a favorite book of mine-Poison by Chris Wooding, and I would read a favorite book of hers (This happened to be the one she was readi ...more

I thought I was done with the self help genre, but I found this book really inspiring. The basic premise that "thoughts become things" sounds sort of woo woo,but it's really just a new take on positive thinking. If you think you're a looser, you probably are... Add in a little "fake it 'til you make it" and you get the idea. A twist that resonated with me was the approach of spirituality without religion. And I love my Notes from the Universe. Hokey yes, but a great way to start the day. Subscri ...more

What a helpful tool this has already become. A conversation piece with my partner & siblings, a reference with pages bookmarked to guide me back and an overall joy to read. The positivity and reinforcement is contagious & hard to ignore. So many place I found myself saying " I can do that!" I really enjoyed Mike Dooley's writing. A bit redundant at parts but I think it drives his message home and is a necessary function of the book. I loved it and will read sections many times over. ** P ...more

I subscribe to Mike Dooley's email "Notes from the Universe," which are charming, witty and inspiring tidbits that seem to show up in my inbox when I need them most. I'm definitely ambivalent about the concept of manifestation (as in, I want it to be true but I also don't really buy it), which is what Dooley's books seem to focus on. But I figured that his "take" on it might be worth reading, given the beautiful, subtle, humour and wisdom of his emails. Unfortunately, there's not much new here. ...more

Great book! "Leveraging The Universe" gives a fresh insight as to how we as human beings have the power within our thoughts to create and set in place positive changes and experiences within our lives. As opposed to using a preacher type method to teach people how to change their thought processes, this book instead gives examples and then will actually walk you through different practices as to how you can change your thoughts and then make things happen in your life.

I have received Mike Dooley's Notes from the Universe emails for a few years now. I always appreciate the positive inspiration in my inbox. Leveraging the Universe tells Mike's story from unhappy accountant to happy speaker and imparts his 7 steps on how he got there and how to leverage these steps so you can get there too.

I know all his steps from Notes, but it was nice to have them in a concise and easily read format. IF you need a boost, Mike's outlook on life will lift you up.

I'm not sure what was more helpful, the great insight or the humor used by the author to open the reader up to his insight. Both tactics helped to lighten up the topic of an otherwise depressing affliction - the mind. We are much too hard on ourselves and it strangles our creativity. This is an excellent starting point for those who wish to understand mind over matter and the way our thoughts become our reality. As a note from the Universe: Thoughts Become Things...Choose Good Ones!

Mike Doolye's book is practical and sage advice. One nugget I've kept with me since finished this book is to always be turning over the next stone - each day. Each day is a new task to work towards my dreams, no matter how small. He offers great tools and advice for how to do what you can and allow the Universe to take over the rest.

This book was interesting, it reminded me of The Secret. Even if you think it's teachings are a huge pile of crap, (which for the record I don't) it mostly is just encouraging positive thinking, believing in yourself and believing in the universe. Who couldn't use that advise! Also I enjoyed the author's life journey, I found his struggles and his rise above them good reading.

Basic thoughts on manifestation. Some of the writing did not flow smoothly for me. I sometimes found myself having to re-read things to really get what he meant. However, it has some great ideas on how to get started on manifesting the life you want. Take the positive, leave the choppy parts.
