Meskipun 65 biografi di dalamnya diulas cukup singkat, tapi buku ini sebetulnya membuka perspektif baru bagi pembaca dalam mengenal tokoh yang dikenal maupun jarang dikenal orang banyak sebagai sekretaris nabi, yakni orang-orang berilmu dengan potensinya masing-masing. Sebagaimana judulnya, buku ini membahas tentang sekretaris Nabi. Dlm. bahasan beliau buku ini mendahulukan kegiatan tulis menulis di zaman awal Islam. Dari dasar tsb. beliau kemudian menyebutkan secara abjad sekretaris Nabi. InsyaAllah dg. membacanya dapat menambah wawasan terutama dalam hal ihwal tradisi tulis di zaman dahulu yang diklaim oleh beberapa peneliti bahwa belum ada tradisi tulis menulis. WaAllahua'lam

Muhammad Mustafa al-ʿAzami, a leading contemporary hadith scholar recognized for his critique of Orientalist studies of hadith, was born in India in 1932 and educated at Darul Uloom Deoband. He went on to study at Al-Azhar University (M.A., 1955) and the University of Cambridge (Ph.D., 1966).
