Die eerste was frustrerend omdat de moordenaar totaal uit het niets kwam en daardoor het hele verhaal een beetje zinloos voelde. Wel interessant idee dat het niet alleen de vraag is wie de moordenaar is, maar ook wie er vermoord is.
Bij de tweede ging ik enthousiast aan de slag om te kijken of ik Agatha Christie intussen goed genoeg kende om haar hints te doorzien. Dus heb ik aantekeningen gemaakt en van alles opgeschreven en ik vind zelf dat ik erg dichtbij de waarheid ben gekomen. De grove feiten had ik juist, maar de details zijn zoals gewoonlijk onmogelijk te raden - behalve als je Miss Marple heet.

Trein 16:50 aka 4:50 from Paddington.
I like Miss Marple stories. I don't remember how I got this book, but it was great fun to read an unknown who-dunnit. The plot grabbed me almost immediately and I have finished this first part in one evening.
Good for a relaxed evening of reading and by the end a sigh: how is it possible "he" did it.
De Spiegel barstte aka The Mirror crack'd.
I have read this Miss Marple story for the first time, and again I was completely drawn into it. It was so difficult to put the book aside and do some chores that had to be done.
In The Mirror crack'd there is a reference to Tennyson's poem The Lady of Shalott, who was a doomed, because of her love for Lancelot.
Three years ago there was a wonderful exhibition of J.W.Waterhouse in Groningen, later at the Royal Academy of Arts called J.W. Waterhouse: The Modern Pre-Raphaelite. Waterhouse has made a painting of the Lady of Shalott.
