Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.

Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.

The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

I am using this to teach play scripts. The class are going to translate the novel version into a play script (hopefully!) it is very well done and follows the film closely.

YouTube kanalımda Oyuncak Hikayesi kitabının da içinde bulunduğu kitaplık turu videomu izleyebilirsiniz:
https://youtu.be/a3ctaLux8B4

Didem Madak

Neyse be anne, senle Woody'yi, Buzz Lightyear'ı ve onların bulunduğu evi konuştuğum zamanları özledim işte. Hani Orson Welles'ın Yurttaş Kane filminde "Rosebud" adındaki kızağıyla kaydığı çocukluk ve masumiyet zamanlarını özlemesi gibi ben de seninle sen olabildiğim zamanları özledim. Sanırım her yaşın oyuncağı kendisine özel oluyor, eskiden somut oyuncaklar verirlerken bize, şimdi soyut oyuncaklar ediniyoruz kendimize.

Bilmem niye gelir, nereye gider?
Döndüm işte: acı, yüreğimden beynime sızar
Bugün de ölmedim anne..."

Ahmet Erhan

Tanrıların ona verdiği ceza yüzünden uzanmaya çalıştığı her yiyecek, uzanmaya çalıştığı her su birikintisi anında çekilirdi.

There is so much to praise Disney for with the publication of Toy Story. Let me start off by saying the story itself is great. All of the characters involved as well as the different adventures they seem to get into make a good book to say the least. Andy's relationship with Woody is actually really cute in my mind and i think it adds an extra touch to the book. The way Woody chases after Andy when he leaves him at home is hilarious of course but shows his devotion to Andy as well. Woody shows stellar examples of perseverance throughout the book in hope to reach his Andy again.

"Toy Story," by Walt Disney Company, is a delightful book that brings to life the adventures of toys who come to life when humans aren't around. The story focuses on Woody, a cowboy doll, and Buzz Lightyear, a space action figure, as they go from rivals competing for their owner Andy's attention to becoming close friends. Their journey is filled with humor, danger, and heartwarming moments, teaching readers about the importance of friendship, bravery, and acceptance. The book captures the magic of the animated film with engaging storytelling and vibrant illustrations, making it a memorable read for both children and adults.

This is such a fun book for young readers. Having toys come to life is just about every child's dream. I remember reading this book with my dad. That night I actually thought my toys would come out and play while I was sleeping. I really like this book as it teaches qualities that good friendships have. It also gives children the opportunity to use their imaginations about their toys at home. I would recommend this book for the classroom as many life lessons can come from it. There is also a movie to go along with it that would be appropriate for young children.

Having just read three copies of Toy Story. This one definitely ranked the lowest. The pictures were a little brighter than those in Toy Story (ISBN13: 9781557238290), but the storyline was choppy in this one. The pictures were actually choppy too. The 4-yr-old I read this with was confused by the pictures with insets and pictures jumbled together. Toy Story with ISBN 1570824606 was definitely superior to this edition both in pictures and writing.

I'm in college as we'll with my friend Luccassa, and we read this book together and thought it was horrible and scary! He might have liked it, but me, it gave me nightmares all night. Think about it..... Talking LIVE toys. They portray how I see them in movie 2. That bear in movie 3, OMG! Hugs? That is like so last year! But he was evil in the end anyway...

When I was a child, I watched a cartoon on TV. I've never seen anything like this before. I really liked it at the time and was delighted with this adventure between the cowboy and Buzz. Two completely polar opposite characters finally become supportive friends.

Sid laughed a nasty laugh. Now he had two new toys to destroy!

Is Sid's name an homage to Sid Vicious? I need to read and review a book on British punk soon, because I have so much I need to ramble on.

Is being Andy's toy cooler than being a galactic space ranger? Whatever keeps us sleeping soundly at night.

This one was done a little weakly. Of course these books are a little repetitive in the vocabulary, which is fine once again as an in-between getting kids to read that like movies more, but this one was done kinda lazy. Things aren't explained well. If you've seen the movie, you'll still be a little like... What?

One of my all time favourite movies and this picture book adaption was also really good, but it could have been better, the image quality wasn't great, pixar animation still didn't translate as well but it was better than it being drawn because the animation style is part of what made Toy Story so iconic.

I liked that they had to speed up with RC to get to the toys and Woody had an idea: he lit the rocket that was on Buzz.

The movie is great, but being able to sit down with a kid & show them the movie in book form is such a great opportunity for learning.
