Justine Korman is the author of over 600 children's books, including mega-selling adaptations of Disney hits like THE LION KING, plus her original popular GRUMPY BUNNY series for Scholastic.
Justine has been writing all her life. She worked part-time in publishing while earning her B.A. in English Literature, Phi Beta Kappa from New York University. While an editorial assistant at Golden Books, she met her future husband and partner, Ron Fontes, an artist in the Whitman Comics department, who moved on to mighty Marvel Comics.
When Justine started getting freelance writing assignments, Ron pitched in and a children's book writing team was born! Ron brought visual storytelling, theatre, and history; Justine enthusiasm, humor, and a straight-A attitude.
In 1988, the couple moved to Maine, where they have written everything from beginning readers and novelty books to historical fiction and graphic novels. Justine's hobbies include fitness, juggling, gardening, cooking, and playing the ukulele. She also enjoys making movies with Ron.
The prolific couple's goal is to write 1001 children's books.
I saw this at the thrift store and just couldn't pass it up. It's The Lion King (but this was over way, way too soon). I need to rewatch the movie now. JK, I have a lot of work to do. BUT SOON. <3
This book was a pretty good and concise rendering of the movie in children's book format. It is always annoying when the children's book and the movie don't match, so that you spend half of story time answering confused children.
One of my favourite movies as a kid and all the books are beautiful too read too our younger generations today. Also like to draw free hand sketching on canvas of the lion King characters.
I think Simba is the oldest Lion King ever to live. Even before he died he was an ancestor he is respected by almost every animal of the pridelands so 4 me it is 4
This was my favorite story to hear during bedtime, when my mom or aunt would read to me' but I have never actually read this story myself. I decided it is about high time that I do!
I have always loved the illustrations in this book. The sky and the beautiful colors and details have always entranced and delighted me. The story itself was equally as amazing. I highly enjoy hearing and reading this story. I love the metaphors and how things are phrased in this story. There are so many meaningful points that are trying to get across to readers. It is trying to convey and teach a very important message, Never forget who you are and become who you were always meant be! Such a great story! This will definitively be one tale that I plan to read to my future children.
It was a fun read: like a Reader's Digest condensed version of the movie. In some places, parents may have to explain some awkward things about death to their children. The artwork is typical Disney-beautiful.
A good retelling of the movie complete with decent illustrations. If you are a fan of Lion King books or just have a little one who loves the movie and you want a short version you can read to them, this is probably the best one to get ahold of that I've come across so far.
This book is about a lion cub who really wants to become king and thinks he can handle him self but gets into trouble, but his dad saves him and teaches him about the stars and gods.
I love all things Disney. Childhood would have been a little darker without Disney. The Lion King was fantastic, and also promoted respect and love for animals. A treat for all the family.
Disney just rocks. The story of these animals and their journey is beautiful. When Mufasa died, I was so sad. But, the responsibility Simba took on was amazing. Very family oriented.
