This was my first chance to read anything by Bryan Thomas Schmidt though he has been in my TBR pile for some time. Below are my thoughts.

-Very fast and fun read.
-Not sure if was intentional or not, but I felt like this really worked well as a MG/YA story.
-The story started a bit rough, but found its stride about a third of the way through.
-Good description, especially in the latter half of the book.
-Good buildup to the final conflict.

-The main conflict seemed a bit

This is a fleshing out of the history behind the rivalry of Davi Rhii and Bordox which is so central to my Saga Of Davi Rhii novels. This was an amusing tale about arch-rivals out to get each other. I started the series in the wrong order, though. This one made more sense after I started The Worker Prince. Rivalry on a Sky Course seems to assume the reader knows the folks. I felt a little info-deprived at first. I caught on, though, and enjoyed reading about Bordox and Davi getting on each others' nerves.
