If the internet is right and Roxanne Dent is the pulp gothic alter ego of Melissa Masters, then I think the author should have stuck to gross-out Chuck Norris-esque action-pumped bodice rippers. This Satanic Gothic was a snoozefest with only a couple scenes that kept my awake.

Riva Landau arrives in Haiti to save her boyfriend François from getting himself killed in a rebellion against Papa Doc Duvalier. She and François have had an ESP connection ever since they met up and he's heeded her advice
