Amazing find. I found this cheap in a second-hand bookstore & out of a strange morning hunger a few weeks later, picked it off my shelf at 5am to flick through. I read the whole thing that day without putting it down. It is a great introduction to Chinese literature. Romance of the Three Kingdoms is amazing, as is the (comparatively more famous in the West, I'd imagine) tale of Monkey & friends in Journey To the West. The former is a tale of a war-torn nation & gives a spectacular introduction to the legend of Zhuge Liang, who became an inspiration to me after reading these sample chapters. The latter you may know from the Monkey Magic show, or even vaguely from "Dragon Ball". I bought the complete four-volume of each shortly after. The remaining tale, Flowers in the Mirror, is not of the same caliber as the other two, but is quite worth a read, & if I ever find a cheap/library copy of that complete tale, I would be happy to dive back into its (rather crazy) world.
