This was one of the most amazing debut novels I have read since joining my fellow book lovers in reviewing the works of some of the best indie authors around. From the very beginning I truly loved how the story opened up with a simple act of going to the bank that leads into the incredible lives of some of the most amazing characters, human and non-human, alike. The story was easy to follow as the author carefully walked me through the hearts and minds of each individual without over-describing ...more

First Line: 'Priana Grey’s hands and feet were freezing. Her arms felt like wood and a thin trail of blood was snaking its way down her palm from the fine wire binding her wrists. She wiggled her fingertips but couldn't risk moving more. The man with his fist in her hair would only yank her backward again and the gun at the end of his other hand looked as long as a bowling alley.'
Sanctum Angels certainly gets off to a

"Sanctum Angels" by Edenmary Black was a wonderful paranormal
romance read. I really enjoyed the way the author was able to relate to the reader what she was truly feeling at that certain time. I found this novel very easy to read and understand because you were truly walked through every scene.. with the reader being able to know just what was going on at all tim

Priana or Pria Grey is not an ordinary human as she appears to be but half vampire and half angel. She lives outside of Sanctum much to the dismay of her half brother Keircnan Grey, head of Sanctum's Security. Pria was going to the bank to make a desopit from the Maidenhart Bakery when she and her fellow bank customers are taken hostage. Whitwater demands that Joe Carfaris come to the bank personally. Whitwater blames Joe for his current life and plans on killing him when Pria intervenes. Pria i ...more

Taken hostage from the First Bank of Saint Rushton, owner of the Maidenheart bakery Priana Grey, hopes she won't die in front of a stranger wearing her underwear. She is the child of a pureblood vampire and a fallen angel. Although she possesses the skill to save herself, she doesn't wish to do so at the cost of human lives. At the gunman's request, Detective Joe Cafaris is called to the scene. At this point I do not wish to include spoilers so I'll just say Joe is left curious to know more abou ...more

Story Overview:

Pria is a half angel half vampire that has decided to run a bakery in the human world instead of living her life among her own kind in the Sanctum. One day when she goes to the bank she is taken hostage by a robber. During the events she meets Detective Joe Cafaris and falls in love with him soon after. In the meantime her stepbrother, Keirc has fallen in love with the daughter of a rival tribe’s leader, the ruthless Sebastien Galaurus. As the bank incident becomes better known S

Is praising the cover art of a novel appropriate in a review? Well, I am-because the art of Robin Ludwig Designs is simply stunning, awesome, and truly gorgeous! That said, let me add, I am so totally glad this is first in a series, and that Book 2 will soon be coming our way! The pacing is very rapid, and the setting reminded me more of fantasy rather than just paranormal. Since there are different species here-vampire, daemon, angel-I think it is not amiss to consider this a fantasy as well. I ...more

I was really impressed by this story. The pacing foundered in a couple spots but quickly righted itself. And the characters were so well done that it is easy to overlook that one flaw. The main characters, even the secondary characters, are very well rounded and well real. Even the villain, Sebastien Galaurus, has his reasons for being as he is even though the reasons really don't justify his actions.

Another thing that really pleased about this book is the fact that there were two completely di

Intriguing and touching, the story revolves around two pairs of lovers whose relationship is taboo to their clan and species. While Priana and Joe are the main characters of the story, I find Kiercnan and Iridea’s story to be more intriguing and touching. Reminisce of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, angel-born Kierc, and vampire-demon half-breed Iridea, are from different sides of hostile clans. Their love is so soul-consuming that they always find ways to be together.

Hits all the right marks. I loved (finally) catching up with my discovered writing of Edenmary Black, who has been on my reading radar for months and months. Okay, I'm a slow reader and also tend to read about twenty books at one time. So, if I ever finish reading a book, it's a happy state of being. Sanctum Angels is a fresh beginning in a series and I highly recommend it to anyone who digs the paranormal or romance. ...more

Books 2 Read: Edenmary Black 72 11 Mar 27, 2013 08:09AM
Edenmary Black has been writing since she could clutch a pencil. She has always been fascinated with the mysteries of the paranormal and loves the question all writers answer when they pen fiction. For her, it's all about that magical, "What if?” When not working her keyboard, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family, all of whom are male. She spends far too much on lingerie and is ver ...more
