Retired gunslinger Tom Navarro is more than happy working at the Bar-V Ranch while planning a future with the woman he loves. But when a local landowner is murdered, Navarro must strap on his six-irons once mroe to stop an all-out range war.

Ralph Compton's name is splashed in huge letters at the top of the cover page and only in small print at the bottom do you learn that Peter Brandvold actually wrote the novel. It is, however, a good western concerning a range war that ensues when a prominent rancher is murdered. Recommended to western fans.
Great sequel to Navarro. A range war between two competing land owners always makes for a fun plot and when in the hands of "Mean Pete" Brandvold, they're even better. Tom Navarro is a great character, partly because he isn't a young whippersnapper but is instead a seasoned leader with a good sense of morals and justice. I wish Peter Brandvold had written more books featuring this character but since it's been so many years since this was published, that doesn't seem to be in the cards.
The Bar-V Ranch is under attack, and as the Segundo, he is bound to fight off the attack. He, the ranch owner Paul Vannorsdell, rallies the ranch hands, and they fight not only for their lives but also for the life of the ranch. The ranch war starts when the owner of the other ranch, Ranch de Cava, is murdered, and the one who murdered him blames Vannorsdell. Don Franciso was last seen with Vannorsdell making the framing very easy.
Retired gunslinger Tom Navarro. All the women want him. Didn't like that the author killed off one of the characters I liked. Two ranches fighting it out again type book.
Very good western. I'm a big western fan but haven't picked one for long. Finally came to this and enjoyed it thoroughly. It's a range war between two land owners' friends. When one of them died, his spoiled sons blamed the other for the murder, and turned out to Navarro must strap on his six irons once more to stop an all-out range war. Although I skipped the first one "Navarro", there's a very little blast from the past, you can still read this as a stand-alone.
