This is first in a series featuring Homicide Detective J. J. Thomas and Detective Fawn Shadowhawk. All the books in this series are stand alone. There is no need to read them in order. No cliff hangers.

They are investigating the discovery of a woman's body. She's missing some body parts, her eyes and lips are sewn shut with thick black thread. This is not the first body found in this condition .... and it won't be the last.

They call him the Sandman because he dumps the body in the sand. Some are

I've said this before, but I do love it when a suspense novel keeps me guessing until the end. This was one were I had three possible suspects for the serial killer and I was wrong on all three (dammit!!).

Meagan McInnis, has horrible luck with men. Her ex-husband was an alcoholic, her ex-fiance mooched off of her while he watched porn all day, her ex-boyfriend was a cheat who lied to her about being married, the manager at the salon she works at is openly hostile towards her after she spurred h

"I understand that you've been running from the man That goes by the name of the Sandman..." - Sandman by America

Meagan McInnis is a magnet for jerks and creeps. despite her disastrous love life, she keeps herself busy with her work and enjoys the company of her girlfriends and her faithful canine companion Godzilla. when someone plagues Meagan with calls late at night, she realizes that her life could be in danger and that the mysterious caller could be the Sandman himself - a serial killer on

*Possible Spoilers* and disclaimer - Just because I don't love something doesn't mean you won't. I suggest if a blurb sounds good to you, pick up the book regardless of any reviews you've read. I can't tell you how many books others didn't like that I did...and vice versa! :)

With a serial killer on the loose, Detective Thomas knows he has no time to spare. The Sandman is escalating his kills and leaving tortured womens bodies for the cops to find up and down the coast of California. They all ba
This was definitely not a read for the faint hearted! It's such an intense and thrilling read that I found it hard to take out my earplugs, I just had to see what would happen next. It's the type of book that will keep you guessing till the very end. At one stage I was suspecting nearly all the characters as been the Sandman. lol.

There are quite a few characters but all were well written and developed. Meagan has somehow found herself the focus of the serial killer known as The Sandman. She has

Sandman is described by the author as a romantic thriller. There is a nice romance brewing in this debut novel even if the protagonists do not connect until the second half of the book. The heroine has been hurt often, has no luck in the romance department, and is unwittingly looking for Mr, Right. The novel is also a thriller of the serial killer variety complete with troubled detective seeking redemption. Yet my complaint with this book is that I can sum up the characters and plot so easily. I read this one last year and just saw it again while looking through Goodreads... this was one creepy ass book but it was sooooooooooooo good. This was when I was going through my "Romantic Suspense" faze ..which I do from time to time.. Megan is being stalked by a crazy ass psyco and crazy ass is putting it mildly. This guy gives Jason Bates a run for his money... then of course you have the uber alpha detective, JJ that comes to the rescue and of course he is smokin hot, seriously dripping sm ...more

Parts of this book were good - fast-paced, action and suspense, but others were not - romance, sex and annoying, silly M.

This would have been far better without the romance, sex... but maybe that's what sells?

Some very good writing in parts and the concept was 'performed' well for this genre.

Really liked this one. Glad I picked it up. There is a serial killer on the loose. He picks certain women, tortures them, then displays them for the police to find. J. J. Thomas is the detective assigned to the case. Meagan McInnis is being stalked. Everything points to her being the Sandman's next victim. J. J. will be doing his best to keep her safe but will it be enough.

Good story, likeable characters, and a series I could sink my teeth into.

Sandman was an unexpected surprise. But a pleasant surprise to be sure. Now I must admit, I don’t read a lot of mysteries and thrillers. I’m more of the pure romance type. But when I read this, I found myself loving it as much as if I was reading my favorite genre. It was a very well-written story, perhaps with a little bit of grammatical errors inside. But a very small bit. Like 5 words? I don’t know, I wasn’t keeping count. What I want to say is

Today's review is on Sandman by Morgan Hannah MacDonald

At first, I wasn't so certain that I had made the right decision in accepting this book for review. Once I got started however I was hooked. I found myself looking at the clock late at night telling myself that I would read just one more chapter, or read for just fifteen minutes more. I had to force myself to put this book down so I could get some sleep. It was not an easy task.

Meagan McInnis has had the worst luck with men. Having ended her

Meagan McInnis has had her share of up's and down's. Her very love life is a testament to that fact, yet she doesn't let it deter her from achieving what she wants in life. Things are soon made difficult for her when one of her ex-boyfriends inadvertently becomes her boss. Despite this, she's determined to hold her head up high and continue striving for her hopes and dreams.

Her life seems to be going dandy and things have started falling into place. When her friends take her out one night, she m

In this creepy suspense the author doesn’t have the two protagonists meet for a good chunk of the book, but by doing this we get a good glimpse into both of them before their lives converge over a sick twisted killer.

J.J. Thomas is a Homicide Detective that is clearly on the verge of burnout. Between the grieving over the death of his wife and the gruesome cases he deals with day to day he has become an insomniac who drinks too much. His latest two cases involve women being found on the beach m

I loved this book! It had thrills, chills and blood spilled! It even had some adventure, mystery and romance in it. Sandman is a suspense thriller about a serial killer that has been on the loose for many years killing women. Read along as the police try to put together a trail to capture the killer.

The author, Morgan Hannah MacDonald did a wonderful job on this book. The plot is perfect, and the clues had me guessing through out the entire book and I was wrong every time. This is my first read

SANDMAN-Morgan Hannah MacDonald

This was a free kindle download and I started it expecting something mediocre. I read before sleeping and I choose something that won't stimulate me into insomnia. THIS was NOT what I expected.

The pace was great. The story line gripping and the characters extremely likable.

I can't remember the last time I read a book in two nights. I loved it and was sorry when I finished it. I would have liked to see it continue but it ended at precisely the right spot.

'Sandman' pulled me in from the beginning and I had a hard time putting it down when things like eating and sleeping begged me. The storyline was well written and extremely thrilling. Full of mystery, action, suspense and great characters. J.J. was a great lead. He's hot, smart and a great detective. Meagan made another great lead. She's unpredictable, sarcastic at times and isn't the usual size two, salad eating character. I liked that she felt real. The way this story played out had me guessin ...more

One of those different psycho thrillers that occasionally come along. There is a serial murderer plot, a person that moves from psychotic to normal depending on real or imagined circumstances, and two detectives trying to figure out what is happening as women/girls continue being murdered. What is neat though is there are a multitude of characters but the author keeps them all separate and individual so the reader is not confused over who is doing what. A intriguing book well worth reading. Not ...more

This was a free or inexpensive kindle book that I downloaded along with some "bargains." After reading the book, the postscript referred it as a "romantic mystery." Not to be prejudicial, but this book may be targeting a more female audience (?). The mystery was mediocre and the "romance" was annoying. Spoiler: The end was anti-climatic (although the romance part tended to dwell on the none anti-climatic part (sic)). I kept waiting for a surprise or twist, but there was none. Basic plot: sadisti ...more

Very good thriller ... scared me a little and definately kept me on the edge of my seat. Author switches between the viewpoints of the police, the creepy stalker and the victims and kept me reading ... even when I didn't really want too. The ending was ... nope, you'll have to read it to find out. Read on my Kindle and/or the Kindle Fire and I don't remember if this was a freebie but it is definately worth a read. Enjoy!

Megan McInnis is a hair sylist and she has a stalker. Could it be an ex-boyfriend or her crazed new boss? JJ Thomas is a detective working a case that the killer is leaving dead naked women on the beach, half buried.
Now the killer is after Megan and her and JJ's lives cross. He has made it a point to protect her no matter what....

I love MacDonald's writting style and it was a constant ride the entire book. no rest stops here!
I am once again sad to finish a great story.

I wasn't sure what to expect since it was either a freebie or a 99 cent download on my Kindle. It gripped my from the start and I finished it in 2 days. I even stayed up past my bedtime because I had to find out who the serial killer was. I don't know if this is going to be a series or not, but I'm sure going to look into other books she writes. This was well written and no errors in the editing.

This was a really good book and so easy to read. I just could not put this book down it is a page turner. I found myself guessing about what would happen and who the sandman was. You will not be disappointed if you read this thrilling book. I can't wait to read another of Morgans books. There was only one bad point and that was the book ended and I didn't want it to end.

This book was really, really good. I must admit that I was at home reading this book, mainly at night, and I was spooked. This book was really graphic in describing the murders of the victims. It kept me on edge trying to figure out who the killer was. The ending was not predictable, and I was completely shocked to find out the identity of the Sandman. Excellent Read!

Excellent book that kept you guessing until the end. The only thing that I would warn a reader about is the graphic and explict language. This is the first book I have read by this author and I can't wait to get my hands on more.

This is a murder mystery - Not usually what I read but sounded good. And it was! Author tells the story well and develops characters so well that when the Sandman gets closer it is a book held in a vise grip that you have to deal with.
